Dave,, I almost did the same last week, wasn’t going to weigh in as I thought 6lb 6oz wouldn’t put in the points but it did… !!!!,. Unlucky mate we all learn a lessons from this. That said what a tun at the beginning on the video “return of the Mack” that will be you 👍👍😉
The same thing happened to me a few months ago. The match I was fishing only paid section winners. There was no main prizes. I had around 11lbs, but the best in the section was flying away with it. So I put my fish back without weighing. Come the weigh in, the flyer had more than the net limit and was disqualified. The section was won by the only other guy to weigh in. He had just under 2lbs. So you see it isn’t just you who makes stupid mistakes, Dave. 😢

I remember doing the same a few years ago on a winter match had 2 carp put them back no one else had a bite then had roy marlow on my case he said "Always weigh in if you don't you,ve caught nothing!"...Needless to say i weigh in every time now regardless & as for the peg...."YOU CAN ONNNLLLYYY DO YOUR BEST!"😅.
Dave I learnt my lesson many years ago on the north bank, didn’t realise that the section had fish poor all along, tip my fish back at least 5lbs to be told that 2.5 lbs had won the section!! Never again Dave we all live and learn 🎣🎣🎣

Well you managed to catch 5 pound more than I did from that same peg on golden reel this Saturday but at least I got to chat to you at the end so that cheered me up a bit 😂😂👍
Not freshwater but boat angling at Whitby festival years ago, my wife and I fished off one of the boats, same me with my nothing much but the wife caught a Whiting about 2lb, the skipper said it won't get anywhere chuck it back, at the weigh-in the ladies prize for the biggest fish her Whiting would have easily beaten all the ladies, it was a new rod and reel. Bugger!
Looking back Dave what would you have done different? Do you think you could have got more from your peg if you fish out and out for skimmers /silvers ? And obviously weigh in 😂😂😂
You tool 40 quid is better than a smack in the mouth and I’ve done it 3 times thrown back and could’ve won my section but lesson learnt.Keep on bagging
Lesson learned Dave😢 you didn’t seem reved for it at the beginning and as soon as you pulled 39 you were talking yourself out of competing. It’s also not a good day when you can’t get a bite while having a snack😮 The amount of fishing you do I am not surprised some days you lose your mojo! Sometimes Dave it just doesn’t go as planned, bad draw puts you on a downer , but in hindsight you did really well in your section and would of won it , better look next time Dave , all the best pal ,
