If Jibo gets damaged there is no repair facility to fix him. Here is my letter from Jibo company. Hi Jim, Thanks for getting in touch with Jibo Customer Care. I am sorry to hear that Jibo was injured! We do not currently offer a repair service for Jibo, though we do hope to have that sometime in the future. The biggest danger I see with social robots is the erosion of privacy and the loss of the final bastion of private life: the home. Add to that human susceptibility of forming an emotional attachment and trust to something like this, and you have a potential avenue for abuse.
It be adorable and at a very affordabl price. I was planning to buy a Softbank 'Pepper' Robot, but was turned away at its obsurd price. Jibo is great and looks like it will be very helpful!
I wish we could bring these personalized robots into our virtual systems like our pc's gaming vr ar tablets and phones when we are away from the actual unit. Maybe even our drone oneday.
My opinion is that they have BS all over themselves. They are over promising and underdelivering. It will be a iPhone Siri on a swivel. The social and emotional AI won't be any where near as good as the promotional videos. Don't get me wrong I would own one if it does what they say, it will but it won't not for at least 5 years. If it can recognize your moods like they promise I will be shocked.

Harry Ze Medic no Jibo is a bit more advanced than Furby for sure but I have had conversations with some very intelligent AIs designed for communicating and well I just don't see it as becoming a "household buddy". Also; any cell phone can do all the things you just mentioned and they are portable. Don't misunderstand me Jibo is great for the technology we have available but AI capable of human interaction is a lot like VR was back in the 80s; it's a great idea but the tech just isn't there yet.
