With Luffy potentially recognizing Shanks via haki, it's been mentioned multiple times that Luffy in particular "sees" character/intentions in people through his haki. Rayleigh was taken aback by this when he was first training him when Luffy mentioned that what kind of person someone was would influence his decisions
Huh, I didn't interpret it as that, originally I took it as Rayleigh being surprised and amused that Luffy judged someone's character before deciding how to fight them. But I like this theory alot
During his training with Rayleigh, Luffy has to dodge 100 hits blinfolded. After dodging 99 hits, Luffy also dodges the 100th. Rayleigh is surprised because he says he completely concealed his presence for the final attack and he asks Luffy how he dodged. Luffy then tells Rayleigh that he felt him smile just before he swung the stick. That was when Rayleigh noticed Luffy's obervation haki could notice emotion and intent.

2 things I loved most this chapter.
Momo becoming an amazing leader and brave person. It's insane that the little boy we met at Punk Hazard is now attacking admirals with boro breath to protect his country.
And Luffy, Zoro, Sanji and Jinbe just chilling there, watching the fight and complimenting Momo really shows how far they've come as a crew. 2 years ago they were at an admiral's mercy.
Aokiji said he’s been a Marine for years but the notoriety the Strawhats had was scary because they gained so much power in a short space of time. First year Luffy beat Alvida, Buggy, Kuro, Don Krieg, Arlong, Crocodile, Blueno, Rob Lucci, Moria & a Celestial dragon. That’s crazy. It took Luffy just 2 years to become a Yonko & he hasn’t even reached his peak. I would say right now Luffy & Kaido are 50-50 strength wise. That’s no easy feat
The monster Trio and Jimbei were just CHILLING in the presence of an admiral, they’re just on a different wave now

I just now realized... Momo telling Zunesha that "He won't be opening the borders yet" probably meant that he told Zunesha to not break down the wall around Wano. Because, considering the Minks could have sailed like Nekomomushi did, for what other purpose would Zunesha come along, if not to bust down those huge walls and "open Wano up" at Momo's command?

I like Sawyer7mage 's take on this. That Zunesha would suck the water out that's over old wano, which then would provide access to reactivate pluton, which would then break the walls around wano.
I liked how the monster quartet wasn't even bothered by the fact that there was an admiral there. After defeating a yonko, a single admiral is basically nothing to the crew right now.
At least to the monster quintet. The lower six still need to level up.

@@nicapunk16 i also think he’s the counter but imo with one piece you don’t have to have the characters be the same level as the enemy and solo them. He can be the counter and work with the other guys and be the main contributor but he doesn’t have to solo greenbull on his own similar to how a Sanji or zoro fight would be
am i crazy for thinking usopp's final matchup is buggy? they both seem to fail upward and it would be fitting for ussop to have the feat of defeating a yonko considering all the crazy lies he's told about his strength. it'd also for sure bring upon the label of being a brave warrior of the sea. feels like not enough ppl talk about this idea

It could be that jack only hot his fruit after he got the poneglyph for kaido. In fact him being a fishman might've been the deciding factor for making him a part of the crew in the first place. Strong or not, most people wouldn't recruit an 8 year old unless they had a specific purpose or ability, and kaido would've then rewarded the baby drought with a df
Yeah, a lof of the people discussing this literally forget that one has to eat a devil fruit. And most of the characters ate their fruits as adults (Luffy, Robin, Law, and maybe Sugar, being the only exceptions so far (If I'm not forgetting someone)
you know what would have been funnier though? If jack already did have his devil fruit powers, so they had to lower him with a rope, and only sent him down there because he could still breathe underwater so no need for other scuba gear

Conqueror’s Haki is being unfolded bit by bit. First we had it being combined with Armament to greatly enhance it. Could this be a mental attack, as in Conqueror’s giving a bite to Observation Haki?
It makes a lot of sense that King's haki is the support type. It is bolstering the other haki types instead of replacing them.

Haki seems to be turning Into a Domain. Like, full extent could basically make the person the actual literal God inside of their own Haki and it's radius.

As was established by Zunesha back on Zou when he sunk Jack's fleet, a fish man eating a devil fruit does not remove a fishman's ability to breath under water, they just get stuck. So devil fruit or otherwise, Jack could have still have made it to the bottom even while being drained by his devil fruit's weakness, which would make your second, more hilarious theory, much more plausible and would make a lot of sense for Oda lmao.
Just imagine Kaido hooking Jack to the end of a fishing line and repeatedly casting until he happened to land on the poneglyph.

In the Fishman Island arc Luffy was shown to be able to move around in sea water, although greatly weakened. Jack isn't as strong as Luffy but he is a fishman so even weakened he should be more adept at moving through water than a human of comparable or greater strength. And since the water under Wano is rain water and not sea water there is a chance that the weakening is diminished enough that Jack could have sluggishly waddled through the water.

I would like to say, I do not think it was actually a failed fruit. I think he succeeded and realized how powerful the ability to create fruits is and decided to list it as a failure to stop the continuation of the creation
Oh I love this! Crazy thing is it would still fit Vegapunk's characterization from Punk Hazard when he tried to stop Ceasar. More and more I'm liking the idea of Momo's fruit being a failure became a missdirection. The less funny, but potentially more plausible explanation, is that the fruit is a failure because it can't awaken or isn't a real DF. The fact Kaido's fruit is a fish not a dragon implies his awakening is the dragon form. Momo only has the abilities of the fruit, it isn't an exact replica of Kaido's, therefore a failure in Vegapunk's eyes.
I still think I understand why he called it a failure because has anyone seen Momo in his hybrid form yet?
My theory about it being a failure is that while Vegapunk succeeded at the transformation aspect, but he didn’t get the other powers quite right.

Shanks went from being the Yonko with the lowest bounty (Whitebeard, Kaido, Big Mom, Shanks), to the Yonko with the highest bounty (Shanks, Luffy, Blackbeard, Buggy)
To be fair, we don’t actually know what Buggy’s bounty is right now, since it’s definitely gone up after the disbandment of the Warlords.

I cant wait to see the Red Hair Pirates in an actual fight. These guys held an admiral at gun point, punked another admiral out of his devil fruit form, AND challenged the ENTIRE WG to a fight with only 9 guys and a monkey.
To be fair Shanks pulled up on a fleet with alot more pirates & Kizaru ignored Ben beckman less than 1 min later.

Momonosuke’s fruit may be considered a failure for a few reasons.
1: The dragon is pink
2: You don’t start as a fish that turns into a dragon
3: It doesn’t have an awakening
4: It doesn’t have a hybrid form
5: It doesn’t reappear in the world after the user dies
6: It’s a success but he didn’t want the world government to get their hands on that power

I don’t know about you guys but it seems everything Green Bull has done up to this point has felt very “performative.” It all seems too easy. From his ranting about the natural order of the world, his near defeat from Momo, to him instantly giving up as soon as Shanks shows his Haki. Me thinks something else is going on here

I actually disagree where you say Shank's appearance is contrived for the sake of film promotion. Once Luffy defeated Kaido everyone wanted to see Shank's reaction as it seemed like the criteria for Luffy becoming a "great pirate" had been fulfilled. And Shanks actually being present at Wano is way for exciting than another cutaway reaction of him reading a newspaper.
Agreed. Lucky Roo and Building Snake even referred to Luffy as a great pirate. Shanks, however, knows that's just one part of the promise.
Luffy and his crew must surpass Shanks and his.
I don't necessarily think that means that all of them must be able to defeat a Red-Haired Pirate in combat, but the Straw Hats need a little something extra before Shanks feels the time is right....especially due to a Grand Fleet member starting a conflict with Shanks.

I honestly feel this Conqueror's Haki (capability) reveal, is also a sneak peak at characters that haven't revealed their Conqueror's Haki, like Boa Hancock.
The thing with Jack, Devil fruits mainly remove the user's ability to swim the weakness part is probably an added on minor side effect. Anyway Jack still have the ability to breath underwater being a fish-men, so ya they probably had him tie to a rope and let him sink then pull him up LOL. Side note Vander Decken IX also had a DF and was a fishmen too
I was more hyped for the Robin and Law lore section, absolutely love seeing a more detail landscape of Wano and more info on its barriers! I absolutely want more Robin and Law together, hilarious pair!
Also side note, absolutely petitioning for a poneglyph collection with lore and translations once One Piece actually concludes.

I've heard a theory about momo's fruit that actually makes sense
Vegapunk managed to perfectly recreate the dragon devil fruit abilities but in the world of one piece devil fruits is said to have a will of its own so in the end vegapunk deemed it a failure due to the copy fruit being lacking of a will.
Can’t wait for a fight like Sabo v GreenBull. Would be extremely satisfying for Sabo to kill/defeat a character which is his foil. GreenBull probably being a noble who praises the celestial dragons and joined the marines while Sabo being the opposite.
I feel like Vegapunk called Momo's fruit a failure specifically because it worked perfectly. He basically was like "Oh shit, it worked!...I can't give this to the Marines" and called it a failure so he could just lock it away and stop further research without anyone getting suspicious
I’m now wondering if/when Luffy will learn how to target specific targets the way Shanks did in this chapter, does that mean that he will learn it while sparring/fighting Shanks? And another thing, if walls suddenly appeared around Wano forming it’s protective barriers, does that mean that it was likely a devil fruit power and that the same power was used to create the Red Line?
My first thaught was that the original person who create this wall was the devil fruit of whitebeard and red Line was already there mate

@@thehitmarkerx I have a feeling that “The Voice of all Things” is more akin to super advanced Observation Haki that can only be accessed by people who have been born with access to it like conquerors haki, but there is no doubt that it is a special technique to hear the voice, never mind be able to project your voice using it
@@Jin-lx7or I could have described it better for sure, at the moment I am thinking that you can target one person with it from what we saw with Ryuokogu but there will be “leaks” or other noticeable traces which is how Luffy identified Shanks from the haki. I also think that in order to be accurate with it, there would need to be a wide AOE effect at the starting point that narrows down towards the target at the end. At least that’s how I was thinking gif it for this chapter. I’d love for it not to be the case cause I’ve not got the greatest imagination

The only word we have of Momos fruit being a failure was third-hand from one of Ceaser Clowns lackeys. Ceaser constantly lied to them, and told them the fruit was a failure.
Vegapunk and the Narrator never confirmed the fruit was a failure. This is something that gets glossed over constantly, but it needs to be brought up more.
Ironically Luffy's voice actress voices a scorching hot waifu named Momo

I think that Shanks appearing is actually the reason the movie will have him as a center piece not the other way around, since they usually get the base ideas from Oda

I like the idea of Shanks being such a genius that he winds up being kind of a dick boss to the rookies on his own ship to contrast him to Luffy’s relative uselessness without his friends and his appreciation of it.
I find it interesting that ryokugyu used the exact same words Blackbeard did when shanks pulled up at marineford

I think momo fruit is considered a failure cuz he doesn't have a hybrid form. Well, he hasnt shown it yet. You'd think after the weeks of healing after the yonko fight he'd train his abilities.
I’ve always guessed it was because it couldn’t awaken. I remember ever seeing Kaido’s awakening, could be all the dragon forms could not. If we may ever see Kaido’s awakening we are in for a treat. I believe Momonosuke will be able to use hybrid atleast by the end of the series.

You failed to point out the most impressive part of Shanks’ attack which was that he shot it over halfway across the entire island of Wano.
I kinda feel like this explains why zunesha showed up when we thought Momo might open the boarders. I feel like when it comes time that elephant will be the one to tear the down the walls. He's just waiting for mom to tell him to.
This week we got Shanks wifi haki and Luffy just chilling while watching an admiral, and for the anime we got one of the best moments for Zoro and crazy thing is we ain't even done yet🤣 One piece is eating right now
I was actually wondering about the Fishman with devil fruit conundrum.. so we know that non fisherman df users sink until either saved or Drown but what happens with Fishman/merfolk df users do they just sink to the seafloor and just lay there powerless until they either starve themselves gone or are the able to crawl along the sea floor looking for either an island or a way to the surface?
I think that’s implied with Koido and the Failing Mammoth lol
Jack was defeated by zunesha and was stuck at the bottom of the sea until he was rescued
I'm pretty sure it was shown after Jack got destroyed by Zuneisha, that he was just immobile underwater and was waiting for someone to rescue him
If you remember when Jack's ship was utterly destroyed by Zunesha, we actually got to see that Jack survived but he can't actually move or anything and just stuck there at the bottom of the sea/ocean.

it’s also seems like in the flash back. Shank purposefully let the sea king eat his arm. I think he let that happen as a motivation and to leave a strong impression on Luffy to follow in his footsteps.

Yamato has become one of my favorite characters in One Piece and as we got closer to the end of Wano, my biggest fear was that someone was going to come up with a reason for her to stay behind and protect Wano. So seeing Momo step up to an Admiral to prove he could protect his home was a huge relief.

And I really can't see the Uta in that silhouette. First, that's not a mic as some say it's part of an arm. Secondly, if it's based on the bow shape saying it's her hair there is already a canon character that fits better; Shirahoshi. She has her hair in a bow like Uta and she would actually be important for this new era (since that image was shown as he was speaking of the new er) as Posseidon. Plus it'd make sense to shade her out in the context of Shanks thinking about the important people of the new era as he's never seen her due to her being locked in a tower but knows that she exist due to the prophecy Shyarly gave Roger.

I really appreciate when we get canonization of anime/movie only characters. It makes the filler feel more like a "what if" situation than a fanfic -- when characters like shiki are made canon or when we got the Jonathan cameo it makes it feel like a story that could've happened instead of one that just simply didn't.

I really hope that Yamato improves as a character after joining the strawhats. Everything is there. Personality, backstory, design, and she fits into the crew dynamic (although I'd like some more interactions with the others, atm she feels like an outsider in the strawhats as she only has had substantial interactions with Luffy). No hate but I feel like the character popped out from nowhere and hasn't really made an impact on the story yet. Momo could literally have found the logbook on his own and things would be the same. I think that Oda can explore her further in the next saga and have her give us some more insight into Kaido through her. I hope that she receives the same attention and care from Oda as the other strawhats, especially since she is the final one.

Let’s get some quiet first then have her join. Maybe have her sneak aboard Law’s submarine or Kidd’s ship by accident and have her join the crew later in the next arc. 🤔
Honestly the longer Yamato's around, the more I find myself just hoping he would stay on Wano, because for one that seems like the route to open up more interesting avenues to explore his character (if he were to realize how Oden had failed Wano and decided to go against what he did based on that, it would help to finally showcase some definitive growth from Yamato as his own person, instead of a continuous stream of Oden-wannabeism) and secondly so far his only actually interesting character dynamic (arguably sans Kaido) has been with Momo.
And yeah, despite how much spotlight Yamato got to hog for himself during the raid and how he was lampshaded as one of the strongest fighters involved, he has somehow simultaneously managed to accomplish absolutely nothing of note since his introduction. It's honestly ridiculous.

I do like that Green Bull seems the most like Garp out of the admirals in the sense that he is loud and 'orders' to him are more of 'suggestions' and he will invade a country by himself even if he was explicitly told not to.

Knowing one piece, the fruit MoMo ate was probably the only real fruit in the lab and all the rest were cloned from it. Or it was one of a couple of real fruits and it was a failure because they couldn’t clone a mythical zoan.

While I agree that explaining jokes makes them funnier, you have to admit that this statement is very dependent on different factors.
The most important condition that has to be fulfilled is that the person you're telling the joke has the right sense of humor. Without dry humor, that can understand hilariousness of the acted desperation of trying to make someone understand the joke, it is impossible the achieve a true sense of funny. Another important factor is the way you are explaining a joke. If you go about it very factual, as if you were holding a boring school presentation, you won't get any laughs. Although there may be different techniques which work better with different people, like explaining in a very scientific way or sadly mumble your explanation, as if it deeply hurts you that the other person doesn't get it, probably the best one is to explain something that is very obvious whilst acting as if you think it would be hard to understand, whilst also keeping the explanation short, so the hilarity of the actual joke helps with the explanation.
I guess I could go on or further expand my explanations, but that should give you a rough idea why explaining jokes can be funny, but doesn't always have to be
