I love elasticated trousers to be honest, the soi carrie trouser will be lovely, I think I have that pattern but haven’t made it up yet. Next month is memade May, and I always use it to look at the gaps in my wardrobe, I know trousers is a big gap for me especially more fitted ones x
As someone who was dressmaking before you were born Becky I have seen many techniques come, stay or go. One thing I have never embraced however is the invisible zip in clothes. On crafts they’re fine. I just don’t think they go over curves very well. In my opinion a properly inserted lapped zip does the job much better. I look forward to your updates!
Thank you, that’s really comforting to know. Didn’t think curves would effect but really interesting when I look back on the few I have done as to why they haven’t looked great. I will share when I have done and be sure to update you on the zip issues 😊 x
Good plans, I am working up to going through my patterns, mainly to see if I can modify/hack into new, as I have decided, I do not need to buy anymore patterns, disclaimer is I have Mabel on the table ready to cut out ! What are we like ! Thank you for taking the time to share
Great plans. I’ve got so many things I want to make, but obviously I still kept pausing the video to quickly put lots of those patterns on my wish list!
That will be as lovely one, I want to start on it straight away… but I am being patient as I have plans in there that will be wearable with the weather over the next month or so 😂
Well this one will be made up fairly soon so you will see the final garment, someone on here has just said it comes up a little short in. The torso so I will let you know when I make it 😊 x
I can't wait for warm sunshine as my weather is very much like yours. I was inspired by your dress version of the Anna Allen Anthea pattern and just finished that us today. I also.want to try the Pietra shorts.
Make the Pietra in wide leg you won't regret it! I made this pattern in a wide leg and was pleasantly surprised because I am tall and I didn't need to alter the pattern for the length.
@@whatbecsews I used a cotton drill from Spotlight. Not a high quality fabric but it had no stretch. I do have a stretch cotton I thought of using with this pattern and I've printed it off again as my first pair is now a little bit big for me. I'm 184cm and the inseam seems to be just right. Have a go. The pattern itself is very easy and straight forward and they do look lovely on. I think the next pair I make though I will try doing two channels of elastic - I'm not really a fan of elastic in trousers because of bulk and I think having two rows of elastic might help to ease the bulkiness a bit better.
Hi, do you know that if you put a 1 1/4 inch wide strip of iron on interfacing on both the seams where you place the zip, normal or invisible, your zip insertion will go much more smoothly. Your invisible zip should be 2 inches longer than the length you need. Press a fold into the seam where the zipper teeth will be. This will stop the fabric from stretching as you sew. Kate
Your plans sounds great 😊 I have made the Sew Over It Alex as a shirt, twice. I remember that I sized down one size and I didn't regret it. But then of course it depends on how loose fit you want. The Erin skirts I made turned out more true to size. Best Regards from Anna in Sweden
That’s good to know, I do prefer a fitted version so I will bare that in mind, and thanks for the info on the Erin skirt because I was wondering how true to size it would be and was thinking I might need to toile x
Hi Becs, lovely plans. I made the mccalls version C back last summer for a wedding and it’s a great pattern but comes up larger and I could have sized down once maybe twice!! X
Love your plans, I'm going to try that last dress you mentioned, I think Adele said it was the same as her Liberty dress. Also, thought I'd mention TAL high cuff sweater, comes up very cropped, I lengthened it for my second one by an inch but it's still too short, going to make a third and lengthen it again, I possibly just have a long torso though!!! Enjoy your sewing, Happy Easter.
That’s great advice thank you, I will measure the pattern when I do it 😊 yes I think Adele is bringing it with her for the social I am seeing her at next weekend. Happy Easter lovely x
Hi Becs, I’m looking to join some sort of sewing club in the Walsall/Lichfield area of the West Midlands and wondered if you,or any of your followers, would know of any.. not so much crafting, but clothing sewing. As most of you know, sewing is quite a solitary hobby and I’m feeling the need to connect with some like minded people. If anyone can help, can you leave me a message please. Many thanks.
Hi, I am attending one this month that is a trial run, I think if it goes well the plan is to run that regularly and I believe it would be relatively close to the area. I will ask over the weekend and let you know x
Fab plans Becki. Trousers are on my list, I need more workweek, I might try the SOI carrie trouser as they have elastic in the back and no zip 😊

I can't wait to see your mcalls dress ,I've got the pattern and it'll be my first time making a dress

Great plans Becky, I’ve been lusting over the double sided double gauze too and I’ve been swayed by u to finally buy the TAL cuff sweater ❤

What fabric did you use, I think this is my biggest reason for not making them yet, I feel I should be using a structured fabric x

Your voice goes up and down in volume..... difficult at low volume to deciminate
Someone else’s said this the other week, I believe it’s device related, I have altered my settings a few times x
