What religious people don't understand about race

- Are the Jews the chosen people? Are the Arabs, Rastafarians, Americans, or Brits, chosen by God? Here's what religious people don't understand about race, ethnicity, and the notion of a chosen people or master race. Religious people who think they're the chosen people are really scientifically confused. Here's why.

Yea but saying race is only skin deep is bullshit.
@@bretert Why is it bullshit? You know, most anthropologists don't believe in race? Race exists because people see race but in scientific terms, race isn't a good way of categorizing people. There can be more genetic variation in two people who appear to be the same race then there is between white people and black people. You can see two people who are to you, the same race but genetically, they're more distinct than two people who are of different races. Humans really are genetically speaking all very similar. We look different but those differences really are only skin deep. Two neighboring tribes of chimpanzees who live a few miles away from each other in the rainforest are often more genetically variant than all of humanity is to each other.

No alt-righters are religious. I know as I debated them for years. Chased them all to Twitter. None of them mention scripture. They sure do mention a lot of biology. My favorite are the differences for when babies of different races sit up on their own for the 1st time. They've listed every little detail like that. They love stats and percentages. Not one time have they quoted scripture.
The irony, they are always willing to debate the science they are parroting. Some of my most productive arguments have come from debating them. That's how I concluded the Chinese are the 1st people. Something science once said until 1 bone was found in Africa. DNA proves the out of Africa theory is false. If man originated in Africa, and if evolution takes as long as proposed, how are we so different?
Deductive Reasoning So you’re saying that debating alt right racists taught you more about biology than science currently understands, and you’re certain that we’re all from China despite what anthropologists and other ppl with an actual education in this field have concluded? *OK*
Deductive Reasoning We actually aren’t that different, dude. We’re all still the same species, and evolution works faster depending on if there is a strong environmental preference to naturally select for diverging traits. Native Africans have a higher amount of melanin and darker skin pigment because that was an adaptation to the harsh sunlight they were exposed to while Europeans weren’t. Europeans were the among the first people to spread a gene that allowed them to drink cow’s milk, because they were the ones at the time that domesticated cows. Other than random little things like that, we never became that differnt of each other, and have become less a d less different now that we live in an increasingly interconnected and changing world. With artificial selection, dogs have evolved way more distinct and varied breeds in just a couple centuries than humans have in thousands of years.
William Sherman Do Go on and explain what kind of disaster you’re talking about....
Deductive Reasoning Also, plenty of alt-righters are religious. Your either lying or ignorant to suggest otherwise. Sure, a lot of them aren’t religious too, but that doesn’t dismiss the existence of the religiously motivated ones. And also look at the fact that most of alt right rhetoric is extremely similar and appropriated from former conservative Christian sentiments, just with new bullshit rationales and excuses put forth in place of arguments of faith or theology.

Recently came out of Institutionalized Christianity and I remember arguing some of these points with my adopted parents. The whole chosen people concept doesn't make any sense from any kind of morality and if cultures or people never come into contact with the "correct one," how can they be held responsible for not being "believers?" Their responses were pretty much like well I guess they're not meant to go to Heaven, or, the bible says very few will make it in. Honestly now that I've left the faith and done some real research, christianity just feels like a massive cult. Anything that allows you to justify inhumane treatment of another creature, human or otherwise, is not of a perfect and loving god.
Not to be rude I don't think people are held accountable if they have no access to gospel and when Jesus meant by narrow door it meant many will reject Jesus .

A few years after my dad died my mom started seeing a guy who had some weird (racist?) views, he believed he was one of “Gods chosen people” and as such was against blood transfusions because his blood might get contaminated. Mom thought this was really weird and tried to talk some sense into him, but unfortunately he was pretty firm in his beliefs, so much so that after he was in a bad car accident and the surgeon told him he needed blood transfusions or he would die, he refused. And he died within a few hours. Mom tried to argue with him but he was convinced it was all God’s will and he was going to go to heaven. Unfortunately she never dated anyone else after that, I think his (totally preventable) death was more traumatic than she would admit.
Oh my God. That's horribly tragic. I'm so sorry. Religion is responsible for way more unnecessary loss of life than anyone will ever realize.
Holy Koolaid mom was a pediatrician and twice had families where the parents refused to allow life-saving surgery for a child because it went against their religion. In both cases she was able to talk the parents into allowing it, though in the one case only by threat of having the child taken away if they refused. Both times the children had good outcomes. I think she knew how to talk mother-to-mother about her child in a way that cut through the bullshit religious programming. Didn’t work when talking to a stubborn man about his own life...

You are asking for sense from adults with imaginary friends. Might want to rethink that.
I think he tries to ask for common sense from people sitting on the fence - relatives, neighbors and other aquaintances of, as you put it adults with imaginary friends.
And it's not unheared of, that people with imaginary friends grow out of it at some point. Thomas himself for example. And most ohter vocal atheists on the interwebs.
Then you have other morons who don't actually THINK about the questions and just mock others. Namely atheists... who reject rational inference to the best explanation and then appeal to their own personal state of mind: lack of belief. But ask them to explain anything rationally and you discover that they believe (irrationally) that nothing (no thing) is actually something that has existed infinitely or popped into existence uncaused like magic without a magician (cause) and then lots of other magical stuff that is never witnessed happens. They then declare themselves to be beacons of light and the voice of reason! It all really is quite comical.
@@jessebryant9233 No, that's not how they do it. That how you CHOOSE to perceive it because it affirms YOUR world view. And btw, it sounds like you are talking about the big bang. Ask any atheist how something is created from nothing, at a moment such as the big bang potentially proposes, and they'll give you theories... but then ultimately say "But we don't know". Not knowing what something is and then simply attributing it to "God did it" is quintessential God of the Gaps fallacy. It's ok to not know... that doesn't give greater credence to "God did it". Don't get on here trying to act all smart with words that ultimately don't mean anything. I'm being logical, as are many others who share my views. technically, we are the human species, not the human race, but your point is still valid and I strongly agree with it.
The terminology changed over time a bit, now we understand the world bit better it is problematic to define species and other labels (apart of clade) do not make too much sense and are intrinsically imprecise.
Human race is intrinsically imprecise, Human species is not.
Species: a group of living organisms consisting of similar individuals capable of exchanging genes or interbreeding. The species is the principal natural taxonomic unit, ranking below a genus and denoted by a Latin binomial, e.g. Homo sapiens.
That definition is not imprecise, it is extremely precise.

Your right about the TP. I was a travel agent for almost 20 years and have seen more up scale hotel rooms (most that I was not staying in) than I needed to and the TP is always over the top. You can not make the neat folds on the end otherwise.
Also, check out the patent for toilet paper, OVER the top!
Plus you'd scratch your nails on the wall trying to get a decent angle to tear it, plus it is backwards and so on with the errors - which is why OVER is the correct way! Plus, added bonus fact, the original patent for a dispenser has it draw going OVER not UNDER...
I agree with over the top Except if you own a cat that likes to unroll it.
Pretty folds at hotels, patents, and wall scratchings are all excellent arguments. I've honestly never heard any of them before.
But I grew up with the 'under' method, so that inherently 'feels' right to me. And 'over' just feels wrong. It frustrates me. My hand feels off, and I feel mad. And I want it 'fixed' to my way. And I get angry at those who oppose me.
Holy shoot, I think I understand theists now!
I very much am a believer in the "over the top" method being absolutely correct, for the many reasons listed above. However I am willing to make a single concession. In a household with pets (cats, at least, maybe others) or toddlers the "under" method has one important benefit: a child or animal randomly pawing at a toilet roll holder (that is typically at or above their head height) is much more likely to completely unravel an "over" roll than an "under" roll.

@@HolyKoolaid yes...lol but also for standing up to religion/cults and opening talking about your own experience
@@HolyKoolaid
This is why I won't have much respect or tolerance for religion until it isn't considered "bravery" to stand up to theocratic beliefs and think differently
Thanks so much Thomas. All the great information, all the positive views for the future. I really need that in my life buddy. You are just awesome! (aka Mark)
Thanks, Mark. That means a lot to me. The future is bright so long as we build it that way. :)
Hi Mark,
Hope you're doing alright.
If you're in need of a pick me up, something that's bittersweet but moving, consider watching this past Sunday's "Talk Heathen" with Eric and Jamie.
I think it's the clip "You cry you lose" but it's a young lady who is shunned by her JW community, struggling with needing acceptance and considering atheism but feeling so guilty and in tears.
Eric and Jamie are fantastic and the phone call changed her life. I was overwhelmed.
Hopefully it will add to you day.
Cheers!
@@p.bamygdala2139 I am doing really well tonight, thanks for asking. I will do it straight away, thanks P.B. have a super night/morning or day. (depending on where you're located.)
Love your videos!
I can see the old pastor in you..
You talk in a way that makes people listen..
And I love it
Bomb Diggity, bro. Keep scratching the itch!😘
This was an amazing experience and rollercoaster ride of information... Thank you Holy Koolaid.
Great video Thomas!!
Great job Mr. Westbrook!!! Wow! Your brain is amazing!!! I appreciate all the stuff you put out!
Yes, finally, well said!!! Thank you.
Thanks Thomas for everything you do, I really do appreciate it
If I were financially independent I'd be a patron in a heartbeat- however I'm not, so I want to ask you, what other ways can I support you and your work?
You know what I do Evan, is tell everybody I know about the channel and share links. I think that is much more important than a few bucks.
Thanks, Evan. It means a lot. Not everyone is in a position to financially support my work, and that's quite alright. Liking and sharing my videos definitely always helps.
So glad i found this channel lol instant subscribe
No man, you're amazing.... keep up the good work
He's absolutely right. The end of the TP roll goes over the top
Unless you have a cat who loves to unroll the whole thing on the floor. Lol
Blasphemous
@@jewellevy We used to.
Which way is it not going over the top?
@@OldBenOne Let's put it this way: open end to the front, NOT the back, against the wall/cabinet. Anything else makes Baby Jebus cry.

Thanks. :)
Best vid I've watched in a while 😊
The choosen content
If a creep expects kowtowing at all times wants to through me in a lake of fire I'm all for it,. At least I would not have to spend eternity with that craven evil jerk. Of course since he does not exists I will not have to worry about that. Why don't you try enjoying and saving this world instead of prepping for your imaginary one. This is the only life you have.@Tim Webb
What a nice guy, fuck him and his shit, glad he does not exit. Hope you enjoy your eternity groveling before the Lord and missing your loved ones who did not grovel. Oh right, you will just not be there because you are you and that is it, quit wasting your life on an imaginary being and use the only one you have..@Tim Webb
This is by far one of our very best presentations!
Loved this!! Spot on!
I still pretend to believe in God in front of my mom...
Shes 54.. i do it to make her happy....
Ion want her to cry because of me
you should be doing that.......it could bring out the evil in her...if you don't.....so....
When a man lies he Murders some part of the World,I don't like lying to People The thing if your Guiding Principle in life is to find solid verifiable truth if you don't shield yourself from these truths way should you shield other from them ,Does your mother Shield from her truth
It's never too late to learn. Ask her if good makes her love other people, or if she does it on her own.
Could you visit Nigeria soon? It'll be a genuine thrill to watch you speak live! 🙂
Is there a skeptic/atheist group there? I'd be down to visit and give a talk, if you have a big enough event to attend.
@@HolyKoolaid Many religious fanatics in Nigeria. Don't visit. Too dangerous.
Your videos are brilliant, thank you.
Beautiful video man... You're very well spoken and extremely intelligent. My children will learn from you
I've maintained for years that religion is divisive, where it ought to bring people together, it simply drives them apart.
Big plus for science and technology over religion, ironically, that removal of barriers and increased understanding that we're all the same, must make the divisive religious bigots apoplectic with rage.
Twitter is trying to separate us even more, they toss out more and more labels and you have to fit all of them in order to participate.
Also patriotism
Well it focuses on the small scale, it seeks to drive communities together (internally), making them apart from the _rest_ of the world. My guess is it aims for a snowball effect, but luckily it never got to the critical point. Seems to be too prone to self-fractures way before it gets there.
Thank you for this much needed sentiment. I’m officially subscribed now. Lol I’m not worthy, I’m not worthy 😆
As an atheist I have no religion which means I see everyone as equal that are perfect beings no matter what race you are.✨
Amazing video!
