The saying goes everyone has a special other half to complete them in life, not everyone is so lucky, my special someone came along early in life and I knew he was the one that I wanted, now passed on he is still the one that I want, the character Jamie Fraser makes life more palatable with his charming countenance, winning ways, bewitching smile and beautiful expressive blue eyes, Diana Gabaldon knew what she was about when she envisaged the Captivating Claire,Beauchamp Randall, falling head over heels in love with the Dashing Scottish Highlander James, Alexander, Malcolm, McKenzie, Fraser, and of cause like all legendary fairy tale endings they became “The Perfect Match” another brilliant Song Choice as always by the amazing ‘Shania Twain’ 👍🥀🤗
I‘m very sorry for your loss. Not everyone is lucky enough to find that one person in life. The loss must be unimaginably painful 😢 You are forced to go through life without your love, incomplete and heartbroken, knowing you will never find that special other half again. We see this with Jamie and Claire during their separation and suffer with them (I dealt with this topic in “How do I live”). But we can also experience their reunion and the joy of being “still the one”. 20 years of separation haven’t changed their feelings and with this awareness they enjoy each other's presence and their love even more, always in the fear of losing it again. No wonder Outlander has captivated you, me and so many others. The series takes us from the darkest abyss to the brightest light and back. ✨

Those opening scenes and the spoken words fit hand in glove. I was already a goner...
Through this song (perfect for them!) I came to realize more clearly that from the moment of their marriage the odds were already against Jamie and Claire
~An arranged marriage It was a necessary for keeping her safe from BJR
~One sided love He was already in love with her, knew she came to him under duress, yet was thrilled that she stood before him at the altar of marriage
~She was using him Though he stirred her heart, was magnetically drawn to him and became bifurcated, her primary objective was to get back to her husband in the future
~She had serious secrets She came from another time! And was married, not widowed
~He was a penniless outlaw barred from his rightful home and title
~He was also locked in a covert battle for his life against his powerful uncle
~Their marriage was not at first taken seriously and already under threat Same powerful uncle had designs on her, despite the marriage to his nephew that he himself arranged
But they held on and made it. 😭🥲 How? They realized that there could be no other love for either. They would do anything to stay together. And they ultimately lived to enjoy the fruit of their marriage, in spite of the incredible odds against them.
Despite ensuing threats, attacks and obstacles
~Her almost rape and subsequent desperate attempt to get back to the future
~Capture and assault by BJR
~Cultural differences and resulting broken trust That spanking and the seemingly insurmountable rift between them because of it
~Laoghaire Claire's arrest, imprisonment and kangaroo court trial due to Laoghaire's malevolent, almost fatal attempt to remove Claire from Jamie
~Her risky revelation to Jamie about being a time traveler
~Jamie's capture, imprisonment, torture and rape by BJR He was broken not only in spirit, but in his will to live. She saved him physically & emotionally, both suffered from his PTSD
Even though they hadn't even been married a year!
But there were more to come
~Their inability to make love for months on end and emotional separation
~The broken promise to save Frank by waiting a year to kill Randall Claire's trust in Jamie is broken again
~Jamie imprisoned - again
~Loss of Faith Claire's near death and dealing with grief alone in a house bereft of Jamie's presence
~Bitterness, anger and blame directed at Jamie
~Claire sleeps with the King in order to free Jamie A bitter blow to him, though he understands
~War and deprivation
~The loss of each other as Claire unwillingly returns to the future
~Twenty year separation
The list goes on after she returns to him but I don't want to take your time by belaboring the point. We all know they experienced horrific situations which nearly cost them mental sanity and/or their lives.
But they still beat the odds - they made it. ✌🙌
Every scene underscored the lyrics and lets us see that they're "still the one", the one they run to over and over again all through the years. The way she looks at him with such heart eyes...the way he looks at her...you can see the adoration in his eyes. And when they fall into each other's arms my heart swells. Seeing them older and "still together, still going strong" no matter what comes their way inspires and touches me so very deeply. 🥴 😭

I felt the same way. Those first spoken words... I immediately saw the images in front of me, they are perfect. It's amazing how much the combination triggers, even though the song hasn't really started yet, isn't it?
The song is perfect to show how much it was ultimately worth it to hold on to their feelings. How they hold on to each other despite all odds, how they are still together, going strong… You can use the text to show all the hurdles, but also the beauty and strength of their relationship. I won't repeat them all here. You've managed that wonderfully😍 And the song radiates something very positive, the joy of defying everything together and the pride of having such a relationship.
I haven't seen the video for a while, but you're right, it's really nice to watch (I hope that doesn't sound weird or conceited🤔🫣😅).

@@thevicarage9841 I know what it's like to get carried away, as you know😁. Sometimes it gets too much and you just have to get rid of your thoughts. I think it's wonderful that it's not just me. The passion for this story just shines through. And that as a reaction to my work is a great compliment. At least that's how I see it. 🤗🥰
