VERY nice! The petticoat and corset cover would make a nice outfit to wear on its own in the summer! If you don't tell people it is underwear, very few would guess!
Yes I counted 19 too😅I saw your remark and immediately took out a wad of paper and a pen and put on the CC, very helpful😜 and the petticoat turned out great! I can imagine you want to take it to the next level with the embroidered fabric 🤩
Lovely…as always…I don’t have any patience to sew but I love watching how it is all done. The only thing that comes to mind when I’m Watching you work is you are a Fabric Magician 😊
I always tie the pointed end of the dart and backstitch the top. Also, your button holes might work better if you back them with interfacing or a stiffer fabric. The fabric is too thin to make a good button hole. I love that color it is just a happy color.
Can't wait to see your videos for the dress! Not many costubers are using polyester on their gowns (or at least not advertising it) and for someone with budget restraints is really nice to see someone with experience working with these materials ❤ petticoat looks awesome and that corset cover is so pretty with the lace contrasting with the orange 🧡🧡
That's so pretty. Looks like it could be used as a cute modern summer outfit. Still love your stripy petticoat too. Wont be able to watch the short as I have to have my screen scaled at 200% which is still ok for full screen vids, but makes trying to watch shorts impossible.
With darts, depending on their placement there might be differences in how they look when backstitched. I usually gradually decrease the stitch length by the bust point and curve the seam line ever so slightly to follow the natural curves of the body to make pressing the ease out easier. Depending on the fibre content, some fabrics would lend themselves to pressing easier than others, so curving the dart works best on polyester, but I do not bother with straight darts on wool. So, if the dart is straight I can backstitch it and call it quits, or if it needs to be curved and picture-perfect then tieing them off and hiding the thread in the dart it is.
I suppose how I end darts depends on the fabric. With thin fabrics I tend to tie them off, with heavier, fluffier fabrics i backstitch. Lowering the needle into the fabric on the last stitch and turning it by 180° can help make the backstitches more inconspicuous.
I love that as more than an under dressing here's why ! (I love the color too!😁) Back in the 1970's we wore outfits that were in the styles of Victorian pettycoats in mid length and a matching corset cover. To this day I love that outfit. I had one in dark navy blue skirt with white flowers , eyelet embroidery and white lace trim with matching separate of a white corset cover top with dark navy blue satin ribbon . Most of those old pattern that can be found and the styles on movies and TV did not really show the true young fashion of that time. It's like saying that a house duster was the dresses of that era.... thing along the lines of cottage core with sturdy demon jean we naturally wore out or beat up until they looked it with flared legs, a tee (graphic or not as some were dressed up) we were more earthy, rustic and even a little country like natives or gringoes than the looks on TV at the time. I rarely see pattern that could make what we wore without alterations. Well that's what my friends and I wore but hey we were next gen hippie/rocker/hard rock- metalheads. We were average American teens too.thebstyles on TV were older sets that were late 1950's to 1960's teens. That who wore that and our hip parents ...
Regarding backstitching the points of darts...I stopped and went to the tie off method because I did notice a difference, as I could never actually backstitch on the same line.
Dart points? I do neither. I follow Kenneth Kings method, about 1cm from the point I refuce to 1mm stitch length and sew off the fabric. It has no bulk, doesn't come undone and reduces the pointiness, although I have no idea why.
Not that I want to admit to the sin of backstitching a dart ( nor the worse sin of starting from the point) but I have only noticed the backstitch of it's wonky or the wonkines falls on the side of the seam where it's going to make a pucker.
Let's Play a Game! How many time do I say "Petticoat" in this video 😂😂 Leave your count down below!

So nice to see colour in undergarments, so used to seeing white. I love that floral petticoat with that ubercool lace ruffle.
I've seen several colourful extant undergarmets, and they are so fun! The Met has some beeeeeautiful ones in their collection.
VERY nice! The petticoat and corset cover would make a nice outfit to wear on its own in the summer! If you don't tell people it is underwear, very few would guess!
"But I feel cute and I'm gonna wear it anyways." No better reason, in my opinion!
The automatic captions read petticoat as "Bety goat" 🐐💕

19 petticoats and I adore that sunflower yellow.
Looking fantastic, and it'll be even awesome with the extra ruffle when time allows. ❤
Thank you Amanda 💜 I am very excited to add the extra ruffle!

Great project! I think late victorian petticoats are the more suitable to ladies. Congratulations Enchanted Rose!

I, too, back stitch the end of my darts. Shhhh. Don't tell the dart police.
Heehee they won't hear it from me 😉🧡🧡
so pretty! i love the bright happiness of the yellow fabric
I sure enjoyed the video. Yes, I also counted 19 "petticoat" references. Fun video!

I want to make that Met petticoat into a skirt for me. That's a gorgeous example!!
I mostly back stitch my darts but do notice a difference with gauze/muslin and will tie those off.
Very pretty. I completely agree sometimes you need an easy win to keep you going!
thank you for this video. And the colour of that Petticoat, is WOW, so beautiful!
Loved this video! The end result turned out so beautifully!
This is making me want to dye my petticoat!
Oooo, that color is so gorgeous!
Beautiful colour! Love petticoats!

How pretty!!! Love the color!! Not many people use orange 🧡 🎉😊
It is not a colour I am usually drawn to, but I love how it come out! 🧡🧡
Absolutely lovely! great work.

I don't tie off my darts. Instead, I reduce the stitch length to quite short and take several very small stitches. Never had a problem.
It’s beautiful! I love the color!

Thank you Erika 🧡🧡🧡

I have never backstitched darts. I wonder if I remember any time i had to squish down the dart in a triangle shape to press flat???

Os pretty ❤
I love fluffy skirts, but I hate hemming them. I recently made a lolita/1950's style petticoat; the hem was near 10 yards. 😅

The undertext thought you made a "Betty goat" 🤣
😂😂😂 the question is now do I change it 🤔 😂
Those are called pettypants.
