As a kid in the late 1970's, Shakey's was the #1 place to have my birthday party. I loved watching the 4-piece band play live music. They showed cartoons on the movie screen. And, everyone got a giant pink Shakey's balloon with cardboard feet. So much fun! The Shakey's building where I grew up was torn down a long time ago. I do miss it.

They had "Death Race", a controversial arcade game where you run over very low resolution people.... and Foosball. Good times.

I am with you. When I discovered Shakeys still had locations in California, I scheduled my vacation there. I ate at Shakey's for 4 days in a row. I brought Shakey's back to my house in Phoenix and brought a pizza for my best friend who also loves Shakey's.

The last Tucson location became a sushi bar several years ago. I'm no foodie, but I have fond memories of Shakey's Straw Hat, and Funhouse (a local pizza pub) as a kid growing in KCMO in the mid 70s.

I grew up just down the street from THAT Shakey's Pizza Parlor. We went ALL the time since I was a kid. Every time I drive by, it's like stepping back in time. So glad to see it hasn't changed much.

I grew up near Chatsworth and Tampa, not far from there. My wife and I moved out of our apartment in Northridge in 2002, but my parents STILL live in the same house at Chatsworth and Tampa. We visit 4 or 5 times a year, and Shakey's is a regular stop on our trips. Interesting to know the chef on the billboard is the only known one, as I took it for granted growing up and living nearby.

My father played the piano for St. Petersburg and Tampa Florida Shakey's. I remember spending lots of time in the St. Petersburg location exploring and watching everything that went on. I remember pizzas coming out of the ovens and placed on cardboard and sliding it into a white bag and the open end being stapled closed. I remember the wonderful taste of the pizza.

How I miss Shakey's! Use to frequent one in south Texas in late '60s
into the '70s, until it closed for good. I can almost still smell the
aroma when you first opened the door and walked in, oregano, dough,
cheese and marinara filled the air immensely. In the late '60s &
early '70s they had a 'Birthday Club'. It was age limited but if you
signed up you could go there every year on your birthday get a discount
on pizza and choose a plastic figure or stuffed character about 6" to 7"
inches tall, from a small mock wooden mini-roof line structure with
wooden shingles which stood about 8 feet high that protruded from a back
wall area. It featured a various selection of figures secured to the
shingles in different positions spread out so you could see them
clearly. You could choose one, and it was absolutely free if you were in
the 'club'! I still have all the figures I chose for 3 years in a row
until I became to old for the club perks. Still have Yosemite Sam,
Speedy Gonzalez and 'Tabasco' stuffed bull (when new had the odor of
Tabasco sauce). Also still have a few lighted Yo Yo's that feature the
Shakey's logo. Still wish I had one of the free foam hats though!

I loved our Shakey's! There was a great local piano player and banjo duo that played weekends and then the silent movies and sing alongs were always fun. No Shakey's left in Georgia now.

Dude as a kid my father would take us all to Shakey's.... probably every other weekend for like seven years straight. That was our Chucky Cheese, he understood good food, atmosphere and vibes, that place had it ALL. We were spoiled in a nutshell. Just as well as the mojos, the taco pizza was LEGENDARY

It was a lifelong favorite and probably the most popular pizza place in town but in the south, it doesn't exist any longer. Fortunately, we had a Shakey's near us until about 2014. I'll always miss it.

My 1st job at 14 in 1974, was at Shakey’s Pizza Parlor in Venice, Ca. On Washington blvd. all I can say is, it was a great 1st job! So much fun working with the young staff and all the customers. Friday night football games would mean we would get a rush right after the game around 11:00 pm! My Shakey’s had it all, John and Shirley on the banjo, pinball, jukebox, silent movies!
When I graduated high school in 1976, I graduated to 9-5 Monday thru Friday and I ended up doing the bunch a lunch as well as do ALL the prep. Let me tell you, the quality of the ingredients was top of the charts, incredible! Everything wears prepped, cut, sliced, tossed, etc. by me!
Image this…the sausage I made by using a carving knife and cutting all the meat off of bone-in pork chops and then putting it in the grinder. Than it went into the walk-in for a few days before I tossed it in the sausage seasoning! Can you imagine that being done today?!
All in all great experience, it is still my favorite pizza anywhere! It has a flavor profile like no other pizza. I live now in Vegas; I wish there was one in Vegas, maybe someday soon!

Thanks so much for the fond memories! We currently have about 50 locations throughout California with a couple in Washington State. After 68 years, Shakey's is still the beloved brand for generations of families. Hey...there might be franchise opportunities in the near future...maybe you want to get back in the game in Las Vegas??? :-)

My mom used to take us to the Shakey‘s in Richfield, Minnesota. They had a plexiglass window in front of the kitchen so you could watch them spin the pizza dough into shape. It’s not a Shakey‘s pizza if it’s not hand tossed ha ha. And another thing I remember, their player piano always had an out of order sign on it every friggin time.

I grew up by the Northridge Shakey's Pizza. As a teenager in the late 70s I would share a $4.05 large pizza with a friend. Sadly they have disappeared in most places but I visited a Shakey's a couple of years back in Puerto Princesa Philippines. It was tasty!

Wow! Shakey’s still exists! I used to go there as a child. I remember my parents taking me to the Princess theatre to see the premiere of the Aristocats and we went to Shakey’s afterwards. What a big day ! Also went to birthday parties there. They ran silent movies and had a player piano. And I remember the waiters in those striped jackets and straw hats.

Please bring back the red, black, and red with yellow font logo signs. The new logo and signs are so nondescript, oval and don't get your attention. For reference the logos you guys use in 1984. Could you imagine if McDonald's or In-N-Out Burger changed their logos and colors?
They are so iconic just like the older Shakey's sign and font.
At least you guys have them painted on the walls of your remodeled stores.

Me and my dad loved shakey's pizza me and my dad both grew up to shakey's pizza and I started eating there as toddler til was 28 years old but the new owners Jacmar Companies Alhambra California took it away from me when they bought it. The last Shakey's by me was in West Allis Wisconsin were forced to closed down in June 2008 by me in I feel like a big part of me has died. I tried to email Jacmar Companies About bringing them back again You are told they should make pre made frozen Shakeys pizzas and Mojos that I could buy at the local Grocery store I never heard back from them which really breaks my heart. I would pay $500 for a shakey's pizza and mojos right now

Im sorry I will open up a new and better pizza parlor. It will be better not just because of the food but the customer service. I hope the show the world that if you treat your employees right they will treat your customers right something I believe most corporations truly have forgotten I hope to see you all in my new restaurant "Better than your pizza" and yes it will be better than any Shakey's Lamppost CiCi's buffet style/ pizza restaurant and I hope to open this restaurant in the next five years to put the shame on all the companies I've worked for. I will own the best pizza restaurant with my experience thanks for all of those companies I've had the dishonor of working for I will be better than you.

I loved Shakey’s until they changed the recipe. Pizza tasted nothing like it did back in the day. The sauce used to be really red, thick and rich with a very spicy flavor. Now it’s just watered down and generic. I pine for the good old days of Shakey’s, Round Table and Pizza Hut before they tasted like they were made on an assembly line. :(

Fun little fact when I was with my fam at shakeys in Glendale I was seated in the middle they wouldn’t move I wanted to get ketchup for my mojos lol. Long story short I ended up dipping the mojos on the chocolate pudding I had reserved for dessert! 😂🤣😆🤪🤤

I would love to be involved in some way; I don’t have the kind of money for a franchise, but I would be a great hire/brand ambassador based on my experiences at Shakey’s. I believe Shakey’s would do really well in areas like Summerlin, and Henderson; so many families!
I crave Shakey’s pizza all the time, nothing like it! Keep me posted Charles!
