hello Dean thank you for your question No a weed membrane is a no no as this will hold the wee we have found most base work if done correctly there will be no weed growth this is normally air Bourne growth and more so with sand filled grasses

Granite dust is used to form a stable base the zeofill will hold the urine till bio enzymes cleaners are applied .

My question is how does it hold up to a dog who is sick and it's movements maybe more liquid then solid and unable to be picked up

I don’t recommend doing that because paver sand is expensive . Just use decomposed granite for your 3 to 4 inche base.
So this turf won’t get hot?
k9 turf yarn wont get hot in extreame temperatures and the zeofill will also help to reduce this

We don’t use sand in k9 turf the only sand used sometimes is silca sand this is down to the dog with allergies to zeofill
