- Here is a closer look at what I use to work the Sat band with explanations of why and how with info regarding what everything does.
This video was made for those that have asked me about the equipment through comments and emails. I have repeated the same information many times. I hope you find the answers to your questions here.
Grab a pen and paper and write down the equipment/antenna info it's all in the clips clearly animated.
Thanks for watching 73
Great Station. Great Operator. Top Work Simon 🙂
@@J1mbo888 thanks Jimbo you always was my fav 👍 lol catch you later buddy thanks 👍
Amazing.. thanks so much for showing us how it all works
@@jacko101 my pleasure, thanks for watching and leaving the comment.
Hi Simon Paul again excellent video learning so much from you the why you explain is very good - on a lighter note I love your action man figures. Take care Paul in Kent
@@paulmark63 hi Paul, thank you buddy I'm really pleased to hear that you are getting something useful out of the videos. I enjoy sharing info on our brilliant hobby where I can and also I like making the odd video every now and then 😁. Well spotted with my action man figures, they love been in the shack lol. I sometimes consider tidying them away but I still like seeing them around. One is a old school 1974 old boy. He is my favorite 👍I am even older still a 1967 model lol
Thanks so much, Simon. Great video, lots to think about there.
Hi Phil I was going to reply to your email with this video attached lol. Hope it answers a few of your questions and look forward to hearing how you get on. 73 👍
Getting good at doing this talk Simon ...A very good practical walk through
Cheers John. I can every now and then act slightly sensible when producing videos but not too often thankfully 😁
On a serious note I have hopefully answered a few questions for a few newcomers to the SATs who might be interested in a similar set up. I get quite a few inquiries about the equipment especially the antenna and rotators. From now on I can forward this with any other information that I might have to aid operating Sat band.
@@M0YKSHamRadio That was delivered well !
Nice set up, interesting to hear how it's all linked 👍
@@sptvids thanks very much glad you got something out of the video. Best 73 to you thanks
Nice👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 going to download that program 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
@@2metercrew389 nice one bro it's very cool and you will have a blast working SATs from Pee rock. Looking forward to seeing your next episode 73
Brilliant comprehensive Sat setup vlog there Simon. I couldn’t keep my eyes off those Action men up top so be sure to include those in a future video. 😂
Thanks
Thanks buddy I enjoyed doing it. The Action man are still well respected this side 😁. I spent a lot of time as a kid swapping and dealing with my school friends with different equipment and accessories for action man. We loved it, I had tanks, helicopter jeeps and motorcycles lol. One of the Action man you can see in the tank commander uniform is a 1974 model and still stands 😎🤙
@@M0YKSHamRadio Brilliant, i was well into it too, i still have my eagle eyes but it has had a very hard life. Great to see yours in the shack.
Hi Simon, Bloody great explanation on all the kit and software. I have put all my gear up tested it but still haven’t had the time get the software to hook up. You have just given me another push so maybe this week I can squeeze some spare time to set it up 100%.
Thanks again Simon

@@M0UOO hi Richard cheers buddy 😁
Nice one on your set up ready to go. Look forward to hearing you soon on the SAT bands. The settings are easy enough to get into once you start playing around. It seems a lot at first but the hints and help explains the set up preferences really well on the Tab that is found under (?) just in case you need it.
Looking forward to watching this mate ,cool ,hey Simon eh' .I'm a Simon ,good name ! :) And yea I got ISS on UV'5r it was well clear with a NAGOYA cheap enough arial ,could see it too clear night ,so thanks for the tips on that Simon :)
@@ce5circle656 well done on your ISS success I love hearing from you guys telling me that you are into it. Awesome stuff keep up the good work buddy 73
@@M0YKSHamRadio Thanks MOYKS and great informative vid ,enjoyed watching this :)
Thank you 👍 I appreciate the comments 73
nice setup simon👍
Thanks Mark you always sound great at my end 👍
@@M0YKSHamRadio yeah i have quite a modern setup simon, the ic9700 and the csn sat controller are at the centre of it, together they are a cracking combination👍
@@MarkCarp the Icom looks like a good choice for Sat operating. I have noticed quite a few ops have the Icom. I am about to look up your SAT controller as I haven't seen that one. 😁👍. My FT-847 is still keeping me happy so I don't see me parting with it until it dies lol but I am from Yorkshire so what do you expect 😁 we have deep pockets and short arms when it comes to parting with money. Catch you again soon, I'm looking forward to RS-44 passes that suit my evening operating. For now it's a bit quiet with mainly SO-50 by the time I get on. 73
@@M0YKSHamRadio the csn sat is a great bit of kit simon, it's specifically designed for icom radios, i think you'll see more and more of them as time goes on. I notice a low pass of rs44 is getting earlier, it's around 1am-ish at the moment so it won't be long before it's back👍 73.
Simon, great video, why does the frequency have to constantly shift ?
It moves frequency as it is travelling so fast it's called Doppler shift or Doppler correction
@@M0YKSHamRadio so unlike other satellites these aren’t geostationary ? No engines etc ?
@@justmejonboy these are low earth orbiting LEO SATs. That's why they move so fast as they are closer to earth so it's more noticeable
Should see my set up. One idiot twiddling a knob to a fixed collinear! 😂
@@Dougsterxplor hey Doug it works well for you so keep twiddling
My satellite gear is only about 70% complete. ; ( Someday, maybe I'll try to catch up with Simon (by then he will probably have his own satellite), but that's all on the back burner for now.
In the mean time, I'm building a portable multi-band (20m through 10m) telescopic 2-element Yagi to be mounted with a remote tuner on a Channel Master rotor atop of a 24 foot mast, fixed to the bed of my old Dodge V-10 pickup truck. I'm thinking of doing a road trip from Arizona down to Brownsville Texas i.e. Starbase, headquarters and launch site of SpaceX. My plan is to see the launch of Flight 5, with a possible tower catch of the super-heavy booster, while reporting the event Live on HF, maybe. That is, if the FAA ever allows Elon to launch; apparently they are punishing him because he allows free speech on X and he spilled a little potable water during the last Starship launch.
I'm pretty sure you will perfect your station for Sat bands when you want to. As for the portable multi band Yagi, tower and truck.....I can't wait to see a picture of that. The V-10 must sound sweet. You need to video the engine block running I love that stuff. I hope your plan works out it sounds crazy and cool all at the same time 😂. Elon is becoming more and more interesting now he is giving out some pain to the big wigs. I can imagine he will be continuing his amazing work with space exploration which is also amazing. Catch up again soon Doug, best 73 to you
