I love that you shared this. I made many things from that craft book. I am now a great grandmother! LOL. Thrift stores are also a great option for finding “grandma’s “ doilies.
So this is an item that I don't really wash. I use it as a decorative bowl to store some items on my desk. Of course, if it got too wet or was washed, the sugars could dissolve and the bowl would lose it's stiffness. In that case, it would need to be restarched. :)
I haven't personally used rice starch on a crochet project, but I have heard of starching crochet projects with rice starch. I'm not sure how sturdy it would be compared to the sugar starch I used in this video. If you give it a try with rice starch, I'd love to hear how it goes for you!
I saw someone recently use this method of searching and she set it outside then found it later and the bees were loving it 😄 beautiful bowl!
I was definitely expecting bees and wasps to be all over it! But I guess we still have enough blooms to keep them busy elsewhere. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for this , been wanting to try this , my granddaughter loves doilies , so I wanted to do this for her.

Great idea about checking thrift stores!
Thank you I was looking how to keep/create a form. Very helpful.
Beautiful bowl. Thank you for a great demo.
Thanks! It was a fun project to make.
How cool = I’m going to do this in October then use the bowl for both Thanksgiving & Christmas dinner biscuits 👍 thank you for this video
Great idea! Thanks for watching.

Cool 😎 Namesta 🤗🐞🥰
Great grandma 👵 would give these to us when we were teething, I’m told, so called it a sugar tit. Hysterical how we lived in the 60’s.
That doily is beautiful. How about a tutorial on make it😉
I'd love to share the tutorial! But it's not my pattern and is copyrighted, so I'm unfortunately not able to do so.
I wonder if you could do the same process with UV resin?
That would be so cool to try! I wonder if they make molds so you could have several smaller doilies suspended in the resin... Now I'm super curious!
It would be easy enough to make some bowl molds with corn starch and silicone.
Won't it need restiffening after every wash?

Can we use rice starch instead ?
