  • Learn how to construct a simple survival shelter in the Australian wilderness where materials are limited. We aim to make an effective shelter that will keep you warm and dry if you are to find yourself in a survival situation. Our sustainable approach by using fallen logs and sticks, as well as selectively choosing a small amount of stringybark off each tree provides minimal impact on the environment.
Supporting logs are laid tightly together to form the framework of a protective roof. Pine needles are used to provide insulation and are stuffed in gaps between logs. Strips of bark are then placed on to hold insulation down and make for a watertight roof.

I'm not sure but ,if anyone else wants to uncover survival shelter plans try Mahorrla Protect Ownlife Method (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now )?
It is a good one off guide for protecting your family from danger minus the hard work. Ive heard some super things about it and my neighbor got excellent success with it.

Love the enthusiasm boys ! May I suggest consider the lay of the land, in the rain water is gonna soak you running around and down that rock.
Just a friendly tip from an ex digger.

This is the sort of video I like, simple shelters that are quick and easy to use. Too many are days long processes, then turn into a cooking show for half the video. I’m Canadian who spent a hell of a lot of time in the bush and has built many quick shelters during 40 years of search and rescue. Too many show days of building in the alotted timeframe of the video, with a 10 pound cast iron frying pan to cook on( which, along with much else , is never shown being carried in). It’s like a craze to get on UA-cam,just make a video, edit and become quasi famous.

You've built it smack bang in the middle of a water collection point that will be a flowing waterway when decent rains hit. Definitely a lot of bush skills need to be learned but those skills will develop as you spend more time in the bush. At least you're giving it a go.

Good point, might need to dig a drainage trench!

The rock face is good to reflect heat back, but having your shelter up against it means you’re likely to funnel the water down the rock face and into your shelter. Same applies for using trees for shelter support - next time it rains watch how the water cascades down the trunks and pools at the bottom.

It’s definitely wise to be careful of snakes, but in practice, snakes generally don’t want to be anywhere near people. And I’ve had mates who have woken up to snakes under their tents or swags, so I would say this shelter is realistically no more likely to have snakes seek shelter in it than any other type, so long as it’s in use of course.

But only if you have a large enough rock handy. I was surprised when they started adding more of them than the 2 in place at the sides. I thought the thumbnail showed a tarp lean-to shelter, but that wasn't "primitive" enough.

What was the purpose of this video? You're going to build something a strong gust of wind can blow away them go in and sit on the dirt? Since we are careless with our time when it comes to watching Bush craft, humour us by doing something we can learn from, huh? Lost me for SURE.

    • @jamiejenkins5643

Yeah and when it rains the world is going to run down the rock into the dirt
