Shapo has to have the most flashy, beautiful technique and game while simultaneously being super disappointing.
yep, I love his game but it's hard to have expectations as a fan
He’s been injured for almost a year, hasn’t played and recently got back to the tournaments…
Bro I can’t believe he lost smh
@@englishinnovationbygamorae6180 was he ? I've heard he took time off and spent more time with his gf who's a player too. Maybe he was injured at the beginning only. Either way even when he's playing it's a lot of ups and downs with him
not only does he not have enough heart, belief, and intangible champion mindset, but he also lacks any gameplan, tennis IQ, and point construction. but yea, some cool strokes here n there, yow! lol
Shapovalov still thought it was Christmas with giving Gaston so much presents. Anyway, good win from the Frenchman while losing in straights sets last week.
Or maybe he still wishes It's Christmas becouse he had such a great time😊
Shapo has doesnt grow up for few years. I remember few years ago, match shapo - coric at Indian Wells. Since that match both of them havent made any progress... About 5 years 🤣
Shapo did not quite live up to his WC
Shapovalov will never win anything in his life. I said that four years ago when he reached his ATP rankings peak. He doesn't have the tennis IQ or mental toughness. Gaston, a player with limited weapons, was able to outfox him and neutralize his power advantages. If he can't beat players like Gaston and Baez who have very little firepower on a surface that favors power, what makes you think he could ever compete with any of the top 10 players?
@@Zenigundam I agree his tennis iq is very low, he is good at punching the ball and that's all, doesn't seem collected at all
The only thing preventig Dennis Shapovalov from becoming an effin legend is a leveled head and mustache.
Shapo has a big game but these slow hard courts are his kryptonite
I can’t comprehend how Shapo has every shot going for him yet just can’t win matches
You may have all the best shots and weapons in your arsenal but little do they help if you choose nine times of ten a wrong one to a given situation. To put it poignantly.
Highlight don't do Shapovalov enough injustice
@@jackquinn9535actually they don’t work if you do the right shot 9 times outta 10 either, you have to be even better than that usually to win the match.
you do realize you're watching "high"lights right?
He seems to lack in power, endurance, focus and should at some point get rid of that backward hat...
Sucks to see Murray struggling for wins. He needs to develop a real weapon ASAP because he's lost his biggest weapon, his movement. Still pulling for him though!
I enjoy rooting against Andy. He’s a pretty good villain in my eyes… I do hope to see him become a bit more competitive. Or humble, but that won’t happen.
He isn't winning any tournament, the sad thing is, this isn't even a Grand Slam, if you can't win small tournaments, bo5 becomes impossible, he's only deluding himself if he thinks he can win, but maybe he just enjoys playing, without caring for being beaten badly each time!
@@blakebarone1809 more competitive yes, more humble ? Wtf are you saying XD
@@pauljohnson6019 I don't think he's aiming at aiming at a major right now.
Murray will retire this season. He shouldn't return anyway.
what are you doing shapo seriously, it was a free match up for you
Ôoooh, he's not there anymore since a long time. Never come back. Done.
Nonetheless, I see it as a step forward for Denis, compared to the other week. Just needs to get like a 1% decrease in unforced errors and the match swings the other way.
Excellent match from Hugo, he hit some pretty awesome shots there.
Happy with the Korda win over angry Grenier
@1:00 Old man Murray with his trademark desperation grunting and THREE racquet taps to get to that dropper 🥲
You gotta love Gaston, he is proving that you can go far in tennis even with a well below 6 feet height.
12:10 What was that from Grenier? Why didn't he shake hands?
What people underestimate is the importance of legs strength and footwork in D. Shapovalov's style of play, be it for its super athletic serve or its jumping forehand (about 80% of his shots). He currently cannot sustain his beautiful and flashy for more than one set (cf. match against Bublik). At almost 25 (and only a poor ATP 250 title in 2019), he's still young but the two coming years will be decisive : either he finds a way towards the top with his new coach Javier Piles and reintegrates at least the top 30 or he stagnates somewhere the top 50 or the top 100.
Andy is cool because he tries his best even if he loses.
It seems possible he'd have been even better than he was if he could have improved his mental presence on court. I like him so much in off-court interviews, but the " mopey Murray" persona on court is tough to watch.
Incroyable Shapovalov. Joueur très spectaculaire
0:20 that ball looked in from here
Shapovalov plays with so much anxiety...
Gaston is becoming 1 of my favorites He,s so quick !
Is it neccesary to make the court THAT slow?
JUST HIT HARDER !!!!
It does seem extremely slow
@@EtSlagFisse Yeah, and the result is clear: an increasing number of players with serious injuries, often career-threatening. Slow hard courts and those heavy, slow balls should be made illegal. Not only they're dull to watch, but they're destroying players' health.
@@J.-M.honest question: how do they cause injuries?
@@MrPiotrVBy requiring more effort and stressing the body more. Players have to hit harder, with more power and spin to "hit through" the court and the slow, big, heavy balls (you can see and hear that even players who didn't grunt in the past start grunting and screaming more and more loudly every year), which destroys their wrists, elbows, shoulders and hips, they have to run, jump and slide much more because rallies on a slow court are extremely gruelling, which destroys their knees, backs, the matches can be longer, and so on. Traditionally, for 100 years, a slow court in tennis meant clay. But everyone says clay is more gentle on the body, you can slide more gracefully etc. But "a slow hard court" is the worst of both worlds. Players have to work extra hard, and the hard surface damages their joints more than clay. That's why slow hard courts should be banned. The number of injured players is alarming. "A slow hard court" used to be an oxymoron for 100 years, it's only a recent invention, and an extremely dumb one that everyone hates (people who keep repeating that they're using them because viewers like it are liars). It also eradicates variety from the tour, which is a massive, constantly discussed problem, too. Hard courts were never meant to be slow. They're OK for recreational players, but not for pros.
I remember a press conference from some years ago where Shapovalov said he sees him and FAA play against each other in slam finals. lmao
He isn't humble and mentally flexible. I think he will never make the final step.
It seems like Denis plays the game of how can I beat myself every match. Not a winning formula.
Murray is done; Shapo is fun. To each their own.
The court is slower than me
These courts are like melting asphalt and Achtung halt checkpoint in every joint.
@@jackquinn9535Maybe they're adding glue to the top paint layer. The balls may be enhanced with velcro hooks.
@@jackquinn9535 agreed they are hitting the tar out of the ball and it holds up on the bounce, rallies look like junior tennis
@@J.-M. 😂This. Disgrace!
Miss the first round of a tournament now and you'll miss Murray.
And Shapo.
Finally I've figured out who Shapo's always reminded me of, it's been bugging me forever. You might need to be old to know and some probably have to close their eyes to see it, but for me it's Gary Cole's old Jack Killian from the 80s Midnight Caller.
What was that at the net with Grenier and Korda at the end there? 12:13 Grenier seemed super salty.
same question, i really do wonder...
He were sick apparently so he pref check by far
Didn't shake hands with the umpire either so that was not about Korda
Not sure either, but maybe Grenier had Covid?
Ahhh yeah he might be sick, fair play there, because it seemed amicable so I wondered if it might be that
Gaston god mode wow
What is a current racquet of Shapo? But in real, not as per Yonex marketing. It seems like he swapped his racquet again. Frame is more shiny instead of matt.
This guy Murray is a future promise
I love David ♥️💛♥️
5:00 what even happened there?
Well done Hugo! 👏😍
Machac 7-5 6-4 Murray
Davidovich Fokina 4-6 6-4 6-4 Barrere
Gaston 7-5 1-6 6-3 Shapovalov
Korda 6-3 2-6 7-6 Grenier
Don't know why they are making these courts slow. It was faster in previous years. 🤔
Was there a problem between Korda and Grenier during the hand shake 🤔??
I think Murray's slump is more mental than physical. Somehow, he cannot finish points, makes wrong choices and as a result cant build up pressure. Hence, everyone against him seems like playing their best match. But its mostly Murray allowing them to play like that. I hope he can regroup and can make break into top 20-30 once again.
"Murray's plight continues." He's really out here trying to lose every match before retiring for good. 7-5 6-4
Is that Sebi Korda yelling “ALLEZ!” after that beautiful forehand winner at 9:38?!
A fan I think. They would boo him off the court if he tried it
why no proper handshake between korda and grenier?
Печально смотреть на поражения Энди 🥹
What's with Grenier? Why doesn't he shake hands?
Must be tough to have Federers flare and Bernard Tomics level of disappointment
Grenier played so well lol, if it was Shapo on the other side of the net, Grenier would win the match in straight sets
Shapo earned some cash
Ехидна
有沒有可能不是球場問題,是球特別慢🤔
Shapo has the mental level of an amateur player. Need to hold serve at 4-5 down. Great first return from Gaston, crazy approach shot to the forehand, double fault with an absolutely moronic second serve that was about 2 feet out. Lost the game, lost the match.
Murray doesn’t seem to have any kind of shot that looks powerful or punchy. He needs a more explosive shot from somewhere 🤷♂️
Did Shapo forget he was playing against a leftie? Why the hell did he keep hitting his approach shots to Gaston's forehand?
Ese shapovaloc es un fantasma jugador que prometía ser top ten y ya no le gana a nadie que lastima como desaparece alguien que tenia futuro
Can we just skip the Murray highlights? We know what’s going to happen: moan, moan, lob, moan, double racquet tap, moan moan, loss. At least Machac didn’t let him drag it out to 3 sets.
Brilliant! Best comment I´ve read in the last days. Perfectly summarized.
I mean, you can skip them if you want to
Murray is an institution, icon, legend, ambassador, sir, excuse, pardon and symbol of hope to drug addict teens of Glasgow.
Hahahaha
Where is Zhang
Where is peng shuai
It's crazy to think that Shapo is a former top 10 player yet he's playing this badly right now. What's changed?
Still getting back from injury, needs more matches to get conditioned to the pressure perhaps
When Shapo was in the TOP 10, he had a great coach - Michail Juzhny. Then they quarreled because the coach did not like Shapo's approach, who treated him as a sparring partner. Of course, Shapo later wanted Michail to train him, but they did not come to an agreement.
Woow never level Machah
Murray lost 5-6 matches in a row might be time to call it at wimby unfortunately. Hope he can stay tho
Andy's biggest problem is that he's lost a lot of power on his serve.
Ho 0:23 is out?
Also not going to talk about how far off hawkeye was 😅
Murray’s body is done at this level. It’s a pity.
When Shapo drops the first set, he hardly ever wins from there and that's why he wasn't performed well for a while now.
Why didnt grenier shake kordas hand?
Co-with the nineteen wind
the old Covid wave-off ....
Machac gave Murray every opportunity to win that game and he still threw it away. Why does Murray not retire?
Why does murray still bother playing ?
Barrere is stypical French. He had the debreak ball on his racket but has no mental strength at all.
Even second raters can beat Shapovalov. He's getting worse not better.
I hate to say this but Murray looks done to me. Severe lack of firepower from both the forehand and the backhand, poor serving, and slower reaction times. His only chance to tie a game against a player like Machak (ranked outside of the top 50) is to rely on unforced errors and a good deal of scrambling, but even that isn't enough to win a set. You can't just 'will' yourself into victory without at least a few weapons in your game.
What Is happening to Shapovalov??!!
easy bet againist Shapo no matter who he plays
"What a way to win...and take the biggest scalp in your career" 🙄 what an insult... Machac beat Tiafoe in the R2 of AO'24...
or maybe he didnt rememeber or know
murray's a shadow of what he was, but in terms of achievement, his 43 ATP titles including 14 masters and 3 slams will always eclipse MidFoe's career.
@@DanielBoonelight no one is disputing Murray's achievement but to state it's the biggest scalp of Machac's career? Then if Machac had a match with Rod Laver and won, then that would be an even bigger scalp? lol
@@spitlim i don't really care. it was just a different metric in that moment for that commentator than you woulda used. no reason to write up a damn scientific journal for youtube. ffs have a beer chad
are you *really*?? allowed to yell out "oh!" while running? isn't that like talking. Murray does it all the time. "Oh! Oh!" 🏃♂️
What is Sir Andy Murray trying to achieve?
Losing in the first rounds of unimportant tournaments against unimportant players running like an old, wounded dog.
It never felt like he was even in the match.
Shapovalov moving like andy these days, some terrible player on god
Repeated disappointment for Shapo
Gaston didn’t even win, Shapo lost
So, we say he became a loser. Sad but true.
Murray is a good player but he was never exeptional in my opinion!
No, he was not. Except in one category. He was exceptional even if he were not.
He has exceptional fans who, even now, keep talking about the so called big 4 Murray was supposedly part of. To put Murray at the same level as Djokovic, Nadal, and Federer is simply delusional.
@@Chinguenguenzano he wasn't at their level, but he was at a level between them and the rest of the tour for many years. He was damn consistent
@@Chinguenguenza nobody "puts him in the same category" don't be ridiculous. what is actually true is that for a time surrounding '16 when he was world number 1, he was a major contender to all three of them, and every tennis news outlet did use that term. it's in stone, on wiki, and easily referenced. so to say it 'never existed' is simply being unfactual. yes in retrospect he's way below the other three. but he's also waay above wawa and anyone else for those two decades in terms of achievements in tennis.
Does anyone else have to mute the appalling commentary? One Example: "and that's a roar of delight from Shapovalov" - AS IF WE DIDN'T HEAR IT FOR OURSELVES, IT NEEDS NO EXPLANATION. We also don't need to hear "WoW", after each point!
You are a professional commentator, not some excited spectator
I think if it's annoying you this much it's a problem with you, no disrespect
They should just leave out the commentary alltogether, it makes no sense when showing these highlights
nonsense
anything's better than monosyllabic dimwit boris becker trying to say anything that has a grain of insight whatsoever...
Shapovalov needs a good sport psychologist and a no nonsense Darren Cahill type of coach. So much talents wasted.
does Shapo have low tennis IQ or he just like to donate points?
or is it both?
Shapo needs a new brain because there isn't anything wrong with his game. Every shot in the book. Should be competing for slams. He might be the worst tennis strategist I've ever seen with this amount of talent. Floats a weak top spin ball and comes in after. Doesn't spot serve ever. Tries to kill every shot. Rolls around the forehand on a short ball to his backhand. I don't get it.
So long Andy. Enough.
Murray lost, for the second time, to a youtuber.
Time to stop, Murray.
Shapo and murray should retire
Shapovalov the most disappointing player. I would seriously consider changing the whole crew on board. Something is not right here, because he is fit. Knowing his roots parents from Soviet Russia he should be grinder, but something is not clicking.
What’s Murray still doing here?! Enjoy retirement man, chill…
Who are the most overrated players on tour NOW (not 10 years ago)?
A) Murray (by far?)
B) Korda
C) Anybody else?
Ben Shelton
Maybe Runescape until he can escape the prison of mediocrity again.
Murray is just old Korda injured himself what your point ?
Felix, hubie, Ons
@@wilgr2103 Huby was not and Felix was injured at their knee do you understand one time in your fucking life
