    I have listened to SO MANY videos about this subject, and this is the most informative one that I have listened to yet. Thank you so much for this! I am going back at least once more in case I missed something. After a forty-nine year marriage, my SIL was left in our care a couple of months ago. Doctor advised my husband she is moderate to severe at this time. It definitely is a new experience for us. Especially since we had no contact with her for years prior

    Losing my keys isn't a problem. Not knowing what the keys are used for is troubling.

    I just found Dr. Tam online. How can I get information on these virtual calls? Are these open to the public? Thanks in advance.

    I was comforted by your video on stages of grief. Hubby has been in care for 27 months. Does he experience grief? He cries that he misses me. He’s 87. I have anxiety attacks, and problems with digestion since his diagnosis 6 years before going into care.

      I'm sorry for you having to deal with this! I watched my dad die with this. It was a long horrible death. He was put in a nut house. They didn't have the understanding about altzheimers or dementia then. His head actually shrunk in size. Makes me cry to think of what he went through

      @@dianegriffiths8974 oh dear. That’s such a hard concept to understand and recall. I must admit that my husband no longer knows who I am, so that means his feelings of missing me are reduced. I am not a geriatrician but I’m sure in his later years your dear dad was in a different place that we cannot comprehend. I have a small chihuahua assistance dog, which visited my husband several times a week and they had a loverly time together, but now he has forgotten her. Strangely she no longer greets him. So I think he has changed more than I realise. I’m glad you wrote.

    How do you determine someone has mixed dementia?

    • @marionjohnson2375
      @marionjohnson2375 10 місяців тому

      I don’t know how that is determined. I was told my husband had gone from vascular dementia to mixed dementia, then mixed dementia incl Alzhimers. I do know with vascular dementia he had long stretches with no change, then a sudden step down in capacity. Later the decline was noticeable more frequently.

      I'm sorry for the slow reply. Dr. Cummings doesn't monitor this channel. If you would like to reach out directly to her, you may email her at DrTam@TamCummings.com. If you would like to speak to a Caregiver Specialist at the Caregiver SOS program you may reach out to caregiversos@wellmed.net or 1-866-390-6401. We would also recommend you speak to your provider and possibly a neurologist so that they can determine the type(s) of dementia that are present.
