Man, it's so sad that someone who wrote a song like this 8 years prior to his suicide, did not get/receive the correct help. His family is not to blame. If anything, they should be credited for giving him more years of life. His depression/anxiety AND substance abuse is what kept him from looking for, and absorbing the proper help...I've been there. It can be very difficult to look for help, when you have to get it from other people, and your disease keeps you from seeking it...it can very easily be a death trap. It's hard for people who haven't been there, but I'm telling you, it's all too common. What a shame. The STIGMA AROUND MENTAL HEALTH AND ADDICTION HAS GOT TO CHANGE if we want to make a difference. If we erase the stigma, we erase the TRAP, that people who suffer from both, feel they are in. We all must do better. Starting now. Or ASAP
I think for most people with mental health concerns, it's not the lack of seeking for help as much as it is seeking for help and being dismissed that digs people deeper into their hole. I agree that the stigma must change, especially from people who don't get it.
