Good old V8 Detroit Diesel. Looks to be an 8V71 with a turbo. Would only be about 325-350 hp. Possibly used for a pusher engine. This particular engine would be used mostly in heavy equipment or semis. But was used in many other applications as well
So, everyone is talking about how that little Detroit isn't a locomotive engine, but nobody is going to mention the complete absence of wrenches or sockets, or the fact that absolutely nothing on that engine requires welding, much less in the location he's welding it?
Missed opportunity, Sheldon discovered an old Super Sentai season, ToQGer, and either debate how it is silly and awesome or how weird it is to his eyes.
Yea thats a Detroit 6v92, 2 stroke diesel engine typically found in most semi trucks from the mid 70s through the late 90s. That is not and I repeat NOT! a train engine.
Welding cast iron with MIG? 😂😂 That’s a TIG job. Nothing to pre-heat and post-heat, guaranteed to crack as soon as it cools. Come on Hollywood at least talk to a welder once in a while. 😂
Good ol' green leaker, screaming jimmy. It's a Two Cycle Detroit Diesel engine. Most commonly used in trucks and buses from the 70's to 90's They called it the screaming jimmy because it was a 2 stroke engine produced by GM. Compared to a Cummins or Cat engine at the time the Detroit sounded like it was running twice as fast.
Lol, I know it's a TV show, but dude, train engines are WAY bigger. Diesel-Electro drivetrain, basically the diesel engine turns a generator which powers electric motors that turn the wheels. Usually giant V12's or V16's.
Really? A train engine? We’re talking a lump of metal of at least 5 tons here. If the characters are so picky with what colors the cartoon figures wear, why the lack of correct details now? As a professional driver I feal violated, I need to go hide in my safe space! Maybe find a support group.
Aloha they have a Detroit Diesel looks like a 6 cylinder and they're calling it a train engine be honest with you bro if he was standing next to it it'd be the same height
Who does the reserch. Thats a 8v71 turbo diesel engine out of a truck. Would weigh 1100 kg's Two men couldn't carry it up stairs.Maybe he used a crane to bring it through the roof.
1:04 If you became an actual Train Engineer, at Least HOWARD MAKES Contributions to science. You'd just basically be working on a big hunk of Metal moving people from one place to another. Yet Howard has developed and utilised a functional robotic arm, worked on the Mars rover and the Space Station itself.
Why would they think that would work? At least use real math symbols, so he thinks you tried. If you literally just put scribbles, he is going to know.
Charlie Brown's face killed me everytime 😂😂😂😂
Also Sheldon saying “nice try blockheads”
,. Bbb
Loved it when he said "Nice try blockheads." 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
I think they be forgetting Sheldon is from TEXAS 🤣🤣🤣
sheldon got me there. . . the drawing😅😅😅
Lol😂😂😂
This isn't what the government meant when they said "Work from home"

More likely a 6v53. Most definitely a V6, too small to be a 71 or 92.
@@460EFI valve covers aren’t right for a 53
Most definitely a V6, it has 3 exhaust ports on each side.
6V53. Judging by the long aux dipstick and no computer I'd guess it's a rear mount from an old bus where they were mounted diagonally.
Im just gonna pretend I understand everything being said in this topic
I like how he draw Charlie Browns head and saying *blockheads*
That's an old Detroit diesel out of a truck lol
Lol I want to know how get got an 8v71T into his living room
mdh recoil because it’s a set not an actual apt building. Chuck Lorre has like 4 rented sets for all of his shows
Nice try blockheads 😂😂😂
Now we see all the train diesel engine "experts" come out.
So, everyone is talking about how that little Detroit isn't a locomotive engine, but nobody is going to mention the complete absence of wrenches or sockets, or the fact that absolutely nothing on that engine requires welding, much less in the location he's welding it?
was he tryna to weld the turbo on?
@@Trainmasterstudios no, it has a pedestal it sits on, from the factory.
@@460EFI I can see that, just wondering what he's welding. Never seen someone do that. Maybe if the block cracks
@@Trainmasterstudios that's the point of my comment. There's nothing there to weld. 😂
@@460EFI that poor detroit......i should rescue it and put it in a trawler

Understatement of the scene!
Leonard and Howard shouldn't be looking at the welding. It will damage their eyes.
Judging the way they were positioned the two were behind Sheldon while he was welding so they didn't actually see the light.
@@vladtheimpaler9577 They were to the side, not behind.
Savage sheldon
This one is a bit farfetched, carring the engine up a residential building ! that too by 2 men😂
Nice try, blockheads. 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Those two men must have been Goku and Vegeta because that engine weighs 2000 pounds.
So Sheldon is both obsessed with Trains, but openly insults the method of their operation.
Locomotive engine is longer than my Lincoln town car
Two guys carried this engine with the pallet into the apartment? Did he mean two forklifts?
Well maybe he recruited help from the local Gym.😆💪 Those fellows are always looking for ways to make a buck so they can support their supplements.😆

Calm down, all your welds look like ray charles did em
Yeah. Let's weld on carpet. Fire hazard much? LOL
Looks like a 6V71 Detroit diesel. With that dipstick tube it probably came out of a cabover semi. Definitely not a train engine
Nice try block heads XD
*There is no way that is a locomotive engine, at best truck engine*
Old trains use to use those engines
It IS a locomotive engine.

That's actually a Diesel engine isn't it

Where do you suppose that welder was plugged in?
The engine looks very fucked up
Where’d he find it? The L.A. Scrapyard?
How did he get an 8v71T up the steps 🤣 it weighs 2,500 pounds
6v92 actually. Note the single turbo mounted on the top. Good guess though. Not many would've even known what it was close too
@@spookytrashpanda7659 pretty sure it's a 6v53T. Smaller, lighter, cheaper.
How did he get it in the apartment? Would of loved to see that.

Small train.
Does anyone else live in that building?

6v92* turbo diesel the 71 series Detroit motors didn't have a turbo
@spookytrashpanda7659 they definitely did put turbos on the 71 series engines. You could get any of them in a T or TA configuration.
Tell me you know nothing about welding or engineering without telling me...
And now Howard and Leonard are blind
are you a little too small to be a train engine??😁
Why so much nauseating, canned laughter?

Maybe they just took a small part of the engine
