- For a trek with such easy access, climbing right out of Manali, Beas Kund is a stunner!
We have spoken quite a bit about the grasslands on the Bhrigu Lake trek, especially around Rola Kholi. Considering Beas Kund is in the same region, these grasslands are similar to Rola Kholi and are perhaps better! They are much less crowded than the Bhrigu Lake trail and are more pristine. Being able to camp in these grasslands with the tinkling sound of a rivulet right outside your tent is a rare opportunity that not many treks present.
Not many people know this but Solang Valley and the trail further is the base of many big mountains. Many mountaineers off on their technical climbs to Friendship Peak, Ladakhi Peak, Hanuman Tibba, start their ascent from here. So on the Beas Kund trek, you’re standing at the base of these big mountains. On a clear day, the views are simply mind-blowing! You’ll be able to spot Mt Indrasen, Deo Tibba and more peaks from the Pir Panjal range.
There are very very few treks where you get up close with big mountains in such a short period of time. You almost always have to trek a few days into the mountains to get this close.

why is it that the website mentions "Note that, you won't be trekking to the banks of the lake but you can enjoy the views of it from the ridgeline" while the actual purpose is trek to feel the essence of this amzing lake..which raises my doubts of actually trying this trek in first place!!
Hi, there are two reasons for not going near to the kund on this trek. Firstly, from the pass the descend is very steep to the kund. Going there and coming back to the campsite on the same route can be very tiresome and time consuming.
Secondly, It is believed that Rishi Vyas, who wrote the Mahabharata took his daily bath in this lake. Therefore, there are a lot of religious sentiments attached to the lake with the locals. Hence, we do not want to hurt their sentiments in any way. Which is why as Indiahikes we have taken a call to not go near the kund.
However, many trekkers who do this trek on their own, do visit the kund. But we suggest you to exercise caution with the locals' sentiments.
