The most beautiful & kind people in the world. I dated an Ethiopian man years ago & he introduced me to some of the most genuine people this world has to offer. I see them as my brothers & sisters now, just as I do with every culture. Ethiopia holds a dear place in my heart.
I love this ceremony! I'm not Ethiopian but my three siblings are adopted from Ethiopia so I have fond memories of this from my travels there. Im thinking of learning myself to sort of share this piece of heritage with my sibs!
Thanks for this video, please continue more cultural snippets like this - it was fascinating! My (white) boyfriend has been roasting green coffee beans in a pan on our BBQ in the backyard this summer exactly the way the woman flipped them around the pan in the video. Very cool.
My Ethiopian and Eritrean friends are amazing and I love it when I can be a part of that ceremony! There is no money involved, though! It's a celebration at some time during the day, to invite the community over to your house and talk to everyone around!! I love it!! ❤️❤️☕️☕️☕️
I was just in Ethiopia this summer & OMG the smell is amazing >.< I can't ever drink it straight black though - way too bitter for me (some milk & sugar? Hell yes)
yeah I add sugar, but if there are dates being served I can probably deal without sugar ; som e of them put salt which brings out the flavor more or butter that I think is clarified
Where are all my Eritreans at? 🇪🇷🇪🇷🇪🇷 also boon usually takes hours because my family is Eritrean and they always watch Ethiopian and Eritrean dramas which makes it last forever
Kay Duff there's typically a little thing at the end stuffed in that's basically like a ball of wire/ hair that filters out the coffee. At least when my mom, and the people I know do it, there is.
Ethiopian food is so good, there's a few restaurants here and they serve this coffee. I just bought half a pound of Ethiopian Yigrachaffe coffee from a high end grocery store and they came as whole beans but they have a self serve grinder there. It is so delicious and from what I have read about this particular bean is that Yigrachaffe is the best. But I do have a question, could green coffee beans be cooked on a gas range stove? I would love to be able to do that and get a mortar and pestle to grind them. I am not sure if a jeneba can be used on the stovetop. Currently I brew my coffee on the stove as I don't have a coffee maker.
I'm somali and I went to one of my eritrean friends house and I tried their coffee and at that moment I found true inner piece. it is the most heavenly thing on this god forsaken planet.
When I first experienced this ceremony my friend had a container with incense and went around to all us guests with the incense smoke . Before we drank the coffee.
Oh, shalom, Ethiopian people, eshhhhh, lord 🙏 God bless you and thans you 💖 so much for your film about coffee ceremony in Ethiopia. It's very interesting and important for me video film. Bye, have a nice day 💓 and good time to life.

I'm not Ethiopian, but I LOVE learning about other cultures. It would be amazing to be able to experience this and have coffee made this way.
Ethiopian attendance section, like to affirm that even on UA-cam you are in full ethiopian cultural ambassador mode
Worlds majority of people's ancestors are from Ethiopia.

Sudanese people do this exact same thing. It is cool to see other cultures similar to yours
Wareef Atrab true
This video is four minutes and thirty-seven seconds long; and only one minute of it is the actual coffee preparation. Good job
Bun or Bon is also the Arabic word for coffee beans! how cool
Amharic, Arabic, Tigrigna, and Hebrew are the most prominent semitic languages at this moment. So it's not surprising
yes I learned in arabic lass that bun is coffee beans - semitic languages are all linked.
yaaaaaaaaay... im Ethiopian ☕☕❤

HELL YES. IM ETHIOPIAN AND I FEEL VERY PROUD!❤️ YES YES YES. Tbh when anything is habesha I love it 100x more
Is it weird that I can't remember the last time I had a cup of coffee?
CalvinHuynhFitness Yeah if the last time you had coffee was like 5 minutes ago.
I can't stand coffee but imma learn this from my mom to keep my culture going
How interesting! When the coffee is poured are there grinds in it? Or are the coffee beans ground into a powder?
Kay Duff there's typically a little thing at the end stuffed in that's basically like a ball of wire/ hair that filters out the coffee. At least when my mom, and the people I know do it, there is.

I feel like this may have been obvious to the trained eye...
Would've been even nicer if we got an idea of how many spoons of coffee per coffeepot?
So cool!!! That thick coffee looks delicious too.
It's crazy because even her mother can pass as Habesha eventhough she is Pakistani. I'm glad she learned how to do coffee ceremony.
