Either someone overestimated the amount of fireworks that could be detonated in that truck, or, the truck itself failed to do its job. I would have to bet on the former but who knows.

I love that the cops responded by holding a press conference and said “That was a great demonstration we just did. Illegal fireworks are dangerous mkay, make sure you call us if you find some”. The first TV I remember my parents buying new was a 19" 1981 Sony Trinitron -- a few years newer than this TV, obviously.
I was born in 1970, and grew up with a '64 Zenith 25" in the basement and a '72 Zenith 19" in the den. Both of those TVs died before their time -- the basement TV got wet and caught fire, and the den TV fell off its TV-cart and got smashed.
But anyway, the '81 Trinitron that they bought to replace the Zenith in the den was the first TV we had with a remote control, and a digital channel-readout. We thought it was the best thing ever, at the time. :-) Had that thing for about 20 years.

I find people who fill those fields are a certain breed of human. Cops, firefighters... kind of "dog lover" people, people who, like dogs would rather jump into a lake because YOLO LIFE IS SHORT LIVE IT vs stopping and seeing the lake is covered with broken beer bottles at the bottom.
My point is... lots of responders are morons, it's just in their nature. The job draws them in because of how their brain is wired, and ironically those are the types of people who make rash idiotic judgements.
Well... until they lose an arm or something. My buddy from Highschool went on to be a soldier and later a prison guard. Nice guy, but he made the most idiotic decisions I've ever seen from somebody. A lot of his "cop buddies" were the same way, fueling each other's fires and acting like a bunch of kids with Jeeps trying to do donuts in an abandoned mine.

It is amazing what a failing capacitor will cause and a good one fixes. I did not know until a few years ago that failing capacitors, besides leaking AC back into the electronic circuit, they also create a short, and heat up and then leak or explode. If you are lucky and get them before they cause other damage it is a fairly simple fix, but some times the leaking AC knocks out other components in it's electric path and to find those damaged parts takes more time.

I hate those "matted" fake TV picture displays in films. They don't even get the borders right most of the time and, even worse, it's not uncommon to see a color/colour picture on a screen when many of us still remember these as monochrome sets. The Manchurian Candidate was a 1962 film. Also, it was not a Universal film. I don't remember seeing any other studio use TV sets/monitors working at 24fps other than Universal Studios. One of the first TV shows I remember doing/using this was Columbo (Universal/NBC). I don't recall who was in that episode but they did use a 3/4" player to playback something back on the TV. Most companies simple shot a non working TV and did an optical matte in the picture area to simular TV playback.

They hauled away the tons of manufactured fireworks but they decided it was safer to dispose of the homemade coke-can sized ones on-scene.
I feel like they were *seriously* mistaken on what was in those things. They probably assumed black powder or something. Surprise!

So those "24 Hz" TVs work by leaving the horizontal frequency the same and just having a higher amount of lines per frame I assume. Here in Europe there are actually multiple ways to do the opposite. Some VCRs allow you to play NTSC tapes by leaving the sync structure the same and just transcode the chroma. As the horizontal frequency of 625/50 and 525/60 are nearly identical, only the vertical needs to be modified. Of course with DVDs and DVB you need no transcoding any more as you can transfer RGB.
However in the 1980s there was an oddball variant 312/60 which was non-interlaced video at 60 Hz with 312 lines. This was meant for online services. You would have a special terminal board installed inside your TV-set and a modem would be connected to it.

05:49 29.97 frames per second. But every frame in an interlaced system is made of two fields (one field using the even lines and the other using the odd lines), but these fields are *not* part of the same image, they are located in different moments in time. Modern displays are progressive, and every frame in a progressive display is a full frame. So, 30 fps in an interlaced system would be equivalent to a 60 fps progressive system, but with every frame having half of the vertical resolution (connect a VCR to a tv, play any old tape you recorded from the tv, like a news report or a sports event and pause the tape. You'll notice that the video loses half of the resolution, because the VCR is playing only one of the fields and discarding the other) . Which is why many users want everything in 60 fps, because it looks smoother.

Or even watching a movie on any modern TV from a Blu-ray or streaming box of some sort will run at 24fps. Older/low-end TVs (still talking about digital ones, not the CRT ones that shango066 works on) will typically run those at 60fps interlaced with 3:2 pulldown (and the occasional dropped frame, depending on the two devices in question).

It appears my power transistor is shot and I am wondering if that is because something else on the board is driving it too hard. I'll be featuring it on my channel if I can get it working again.

Although films made for the cinema are shot at 24fps, a cinema projector does in fact show the same frame twice so the flicker is reduced. As the shutter rotates the light goes through each frame twice.
When films are shown on UK or any 50Hz TV the frame is 25 fps. To make this work correctly the film is in fact speeded up from 24fps to 25fps. Most people have no idea this is happening. It can be noticed on music however.
These days most TVs and optical media can run films at 24fps.

I have heard that some conversions double frames, like every 24th frame from Cinema to PAL and every 4th frame from Cinema to NTSC. This does through the speed off slightly, because doubling every fourth frame converts it to 30 frames a second, and being played back at 29.97 frames a second, adds about 3.6 seconds for every hour of footage.

So I've watched to 7:00 now seeing it a Sony with a series pass chopper p/s & the most common failure on those from high frequency was the 33uF caps on the output that's my guess as I 10's of thousands 33uF caps in Sony's back in the day...but will keep watching!
