The breathing grew louder, like the person was coming closer to the phone. I noticed it sounded labored and harsh, the person on the line inhaled sharply and wheezed, loudly this time and whispered two words that sent shivers down my spine; ''JOE MAMA''

Bruh, that’s a perfect way to end a short story. It gives a sense of relief but ends with an answer that contains elements of horror and mystery, it leaves such a good ending as it makes you question who or what is in there.
