  • Skiing in variable light conditions to test out the new Ruroc RG1DX Nastek transition lenses in Wengen Switzerland January 2019.
    The light was constantly changing throughout the day and the lens just worked well in all of those conditions, if anyone is interested in me comparing these lenses to one of the other lenses from Ruroc just let me know in the comments below.

    Hello, you write that you have installed a shock wave in the helmet. I have two questions.
    1. How long does the battery last at normal volume?
    2. Does the person on the chairlift hear the music next door?

    Anything you want me to test/show on a future Ruroc helmet video?

    Thanks for your very informative videos. I 'm looking to purchase a Ruroc helmet for bike riding and was wondering if the transition lens would be a good addition. Would it work well if I'm riding at sunset and then continue in the dark? I'm assuming they would go from a dark lens (like sunglasses) while the sun is out, then go to clear when it becomes night. Thanks for any advice you can give.

      Yes it’ll go light again when the sun goes down but it does take around 10mins to go fully clear but it should lighten up enough for you to see as it gets darker. The only thing is that it is pretty dark at full tint so going into tunnels or sudden shade might be challenging

      @@GarethDix Thanks for the info. and quick reply. I watched your video on the lenses...Which lens would you suggest for an overall bike-riding lens fort mostly daytime riding that would work well both on sunny days and overcast days. Thanks again!

      The iridescent lenses are probably best for varying conditions and I’d probably get a green as these tend to let a little more light through and don’t get as dark as the transition lens. Some of this will depend on whether your eyes struggle more in bright light or low light though... I struggle in lowlight so tend to wear a lighter lens most of the time. My gf pretty much wears a chrome lens all the time which I can’t understand how she sees anything

    • @GarethDix
      @GarethDix  3 роки тому +1

      Nope... it’s pretty quick to change to dark... but takes around 10mins to change back to clear

    hey whats up dude i have been thinking about buying the lou board 3.0. i saw you made a video about it for some time ago and just wanted to ask if you still recomend the board and if you still use it. ps love your content keep that shit up boi

      I still love my LouBoard, I’ve pretty much used it to get to work every day that it isn’t raining.
      The board isn’t perfect... it suffers from battery sag if you’re going up steep hills, the braking isn’t the best and if you’re riding on uneven ground for a long time the carbon deck being so stiff really tires out your legs...
      ...but for me I don’t have a long commute and it’s still a lot of fun... what I will say though is that there are a lot of new boards on the market which are probably as good but a lot cheaper

      I meant to also say that I had planned on making a video on what it’s like a year later... just didn’t get around to it yet but... it’s on my list to do

    Hey Gareth - I just received a new Nastek transition lense for my Ruroc helmet but after unboxing and walking around the house with it, it has not transitioned at all. Looks like they may have sent me a regular clear lense by accident. Does the lense actually darken?

    • @GarethDix
      @GarethDix  4 роки тому

      Yes it just needs a lot of light, if you’re doing this indoors it’s not likely to change. Even when I used a small torch next to the lens it didn’t change, it needs quite a bit of light to change so it may be correct. The only thing with the transition (from memory) is that it doesn’t say anything on the lens so I’ve picked up my clear one by accident before

      Glen Jones It reacts to UV not actual light. It won’t change with a lamp.

    Hello, you write that you have installed a shockwave in the helmet. I have two questions.
    1. How long does the battery last at a high volume so you can not talk to each other?
    2. Does the person on the chairlift next door hear what music?

      Hi Robert, I haven’t done a specific test on the battery life but my trip for this video I forgot to charge it each night and it lasted the full 3 days. This was at low volume though and lots of start stopping.
      The Bluetooth connection drops in and out so is kind of annoying (I don’t have that issue on my V1 shockwave)
      I think if you had it on max volume and there was no wind noise the person next to you would hear it as it’s no like having headphones in your ears.
      I hope that helps?

      Robert Schnyder I typically have the volume on pretty low if I’m on a busy piste so I can hear what’s coming behind me but then turn it up on the lifts and it’s pretty loud. The volume is controlled by either your phone or the buttons in the ears of the helmet 😀
