Agreed ! Our city has tried red & yellow. Back to red for good now, I hope ! It's been a good 20 years in red, so I'm pretty sure we're staying red !! However, our bunker gear has gone from that beige colour to the black, like New York. Boots changed too, from traditional black with yellow toe to all black. Helmets changed from yellow to black around 15 years ago. It's always interesting to see other trucks, bunker gear, the various ways to dispatch, and the like. I think the biggest change that has resulted in a decrease in Firefighter safety has been how good out bunker gear has become ! I know that sounds dumb, but listen : if we could feel the heat, we'd know how far in we should go. Ever have your helmet visor melt ? I have. Too hot, but because our bunker gear is so good, we have no clue. Take this example.... We pull up to 3 vacant dwellings going throughout. The engine's light bar on the roof starts to melt, as does the side mirrors. I've never felt heat like that before ! I hope I never do again. There's one way to tell : pressure points get hot. Your elbows and knees, the parts that are as close to the exterior of your bunker gear. Pay attention. Peace.

@@leehart9055 Boston engine companies carry two 1 3/4" Crosslays and one 2 1/2" crosslay. The hosebed carrys 4" supply, and an 1 3/4" nuisance line. Additionally a few engine companies have a 2 1/2" horsehoe load off the rear. Downtown Companies have high pressure line for high rise fires. The setup in Boston is done how the captain wants it and not a standard setup so some companies may have horeshoe loads while others dont.

@@OwneyMadden430 Yes several cities around here do still carry horshoe loads. For @Lee Hart I updated my original comment with the correct info.
