  • The Grower’s Choice ROI-E720 is a big beautiful grow light. It is an array fixture with 8 LED bars. It offers the best coverage in a 5’ x 5’ grow space of any fixture that I have tested. It has superior efficiency, excellent distribution, and top-quality components. The ROI-E720 is among the very best fixtures on the market for 5’ x 5’ coverage, and it comes in at an incredible price.
    Looking to buy the ROI E720? We set up a deal with Grower's Choice partner, TSL Horti Tech. This may be the best deal anywhere for the ROI series fixtures! Shop the TSL Horti Tech Online Store and use 10% Discount Code: CCFC
    This video is more than just a PAR test and review! I do an unboxing, show the set-up process and run two PAR tests at different hanging heights. The ROI E720 gives us a great chance to explore the grow light physics of changing hanging height. I show how it affects distribution, Usable PPF, PPFD and Photosynthetic efficiency. I think all growers may find it enlightening.

    Id really like this guy to do a segment on how these lights lose intensity over time. Its gotten alot better but still an issue not many people talk about. I'd like to see a few videos on having these lights on for a few weeks or months and then do a par test and efficiency rating. Bc thats when you see the difference between brands like mars hydro and spectrum king led.

      @@kingallsup4 lmfao do I grow? Coming from a guy with no grow videos? That's rich. And you obviously don't know anything about led lights. They all loose Intensity over time. That's why spectrum king gives a warranty backed by a 3rd party that their lights won't loose more than 15 or 20% Intensity over a 4 year period. It's all about the design of the light and the parts used. Before you get on here trying to call out ppl attempting to sound like you know what your talking about do some research first. I own 2 roi720s a roi680 and master controller and 4 nextlight mega pros, spectrum king sk402 and sk602 ect. I'm well versed in this field and have actual hands on experience with them. Bottom line your wrong and obviously don't grow.

    I have been running the Mars fc6500 in a 5x5 , went from a double ended CMH 1000 watt , this Mars light is wicked in every way and runs at 22c .....ya I said 22c , I had to put the driver back on the light instead of outside the tent or it would run too cool ! My plants look unbelievable under the bright white light and you can see every little detail , it's more than enough for 5x5 I looked at the Grower's choice and other's but all things considered ($) went with the Mars but I'm in Canada and even this budget light was $ 1400 all in but it's worth it , I'm going to get the fc4500 too , if you got the cash buy the best .... whatever that is , but im 67 years old and started in 1975 , with a 400 watt warehouse light so all these new options are awesome , can't go wrong ! Unfortunately whatever you buy will be old news in a month ........just pick the best you can afford !

    A friend of mine made me noticed that black floor of your test box it's very reflective, isn't it better if you use somthig like a black cloth or something that absorbs more light since that the plant isn't that reflective and when you grow to maximize the surface area you use it all and so the ground is covered.

    • @DrMJCoco
      @DrMJCoco  3 роки тому

      This is a good thing to look out for, but I assure you the mat is less reflective than it may look. The glare you see in the video is exaggerated. There is almost no measurable PAR light reflected off the black of the mat. I am more concerned about the white lines actually, but the impact is really very tiny, well within the MOE. I will eventually get a new test surface and will be able to compare.

    How much you think per month per light the higher wattage is why I doubted my self in buying them

    • @victorsupreme214
      @victorsupreme214 3 роки тому +2

      Electricity is charged by the Kilowatt-Hour, or kW-h. A Kilowatt is 1000 Watts. These lights are about 750W draw at maximum, so find out the kW-h rate from your electricity provider and multiply it by .75 (e.g. If you ran it dimmed and drawing only 500W, you would multiply this cost by .5 instead)
      This will give you your hourly cost to run. Then multiply that hourly cost by the number of hours you will run it in a month for your total monthly cost.
      So if your electricity cost say 20c per kW-h and you ran this light at max 750W it would be 20c x .75 = 15c per hour.
      With a 4-week (28 day) Veg at 18 hours per day that would be 28 x 18 = 504 hours. Then 15c (cost per hour) x 504 (total hours run) = 7560 cents, or $75.60 for your 4 week veg.
      With a 8-week (56 day) Flower at 12 hours per day that would be 56 x 12 = 672hours. Then 15c (cost per hour) x 672 (total hours run) = 10,080 cents, or $100.80 for your 8 week flower cycle, or $50.40 per 4 weeks.
      Or basically 1176 (total hours run) x .75 (750W draw) = *882* kW-h used for a 4 week veg and 8 week flower. Multiply 882 by your kW-h rate and you have your cost to run.
      Note electricity is not charged by the actual hour, but by the number of Watts used. There will usually be different kW-h rates at different times of the day, or depending on total usage over a billing cycle.

      Geekbeast has the advantage of what I like to think of as the next wave new model standard once pricey brands learn it. They spread the bars in a way so instead of being evenly spaced, there is a gap in the very middle, and the outer bars are pushed further out AND the outer bars have MORE diodes, therefore NO HOT SPOT in the centre AND the edges are very bright with no drop off!!!

If your 1 hour past watering the plant will die, that's how fast u would fry the plant and roots if your late on watering. Under 1000 ppfd if u miss watering by a hour u see major dropping on the plant. U miss by a hour at 1800ppfd your plant will die. You need automation everything. It is a result of the design. The light is well spread out and it is more efficient to run closer to the canopy. Some fixtures have hanging heights of only 6" for the same reason.

    • @DrMJCoco
      @DrMJCoco  3 роки тому

      Sure - you can find fixtures with hanging heights from 6" to over 3'. The higher it is hung the more you depend on the reflectivity of the walls and the greater the bonus from running in arrays. In a small space (single fixture) there is a huge benefit to having a lower hanging height. Hanging height alone does not tell you much about the efficiency or the quality of the fixture though. However, it is typical for Bar Arrays, like the E720 to have better distribution and hence a lower hanging height than a QB style fixture. Grower Love
