agree. this version is awesome. but. do you trade that for continual underground status? Electric was more mainstream, leading into the breakthrough that was Sonic Temple. I'm glad they made some money along the way, albeit by selling out a bit. imo one of the most underrated groups on the early 80s. Them and the Smithereens lol
@ noodles37UK, This is technically the Manor sessions version. However this is not the same track from the manor sessions. This one is even better yet is my opinion. The ONLY other place Ive hear this exact track was from a movie called "Out of bounds". Good luck trying to get your hands on the soundtrack (which is an awesome soundtrack through and through)
Thank you for uploading this!! I heard this version on KROQ 106.7 way back in the 80's and luckily was recording on my cassette player so I had a crappy copy. I LOVE this version waay more than the Electric version though I get how the Electric version fits better on the album. This has a more Love-ish sound to it in my opinion. But ah...needs more cowbell!
@Nominay Had someone print me out the details of that Rare Cult USA box set. I pondered over it, utterly heartbroken and jealous of the Americans that had it in their possession lol!
Noodles37UK Aaaaaagghghhhhhhh...americans!!!! No really I am 51 yo American who is hearing this old, wonderful stuff for the first time...heard their later music, mostly. This is effing great...had no idea this bloody good...every aspect of this band.Cheers in 2018
I heard this when they were in denmark or finland...and then i bought the album back in the mid 80's i was disappointed not to hear this version of electric ocean but i liked the album alot..anyways.....I also thought maybe i had heard it wrong..I was like 17-18...."Fuck you Rubin!...lol..can't go back and change it! To much to say but thanks! Cheers!!!
LOL OMG after 20 years of trying to find it, I finally got the album that has this original version (which I like waaaaay better). Prior to that all I could find was the shitty ass live in finland video. Now, after getting the manor sessions this video gets posted. How ironic
@Noodles37UK Some 10 years ago I finally scored a great condition Out of Bounds 12" soundtrack ... however, just some years later this version became available on the Rare Cult Box Set. It's hard to find now, limited copies were made, but much easier than finding an Out of Bounds vinyl copy. A friend of mine I had a falling out with has my OOB... can't really bother getting back, otherwise I'd just send you the damn thing for free.
this is NOT The Version from Out Of BOUNDS however,it is the closest out here in You Tube Land.....The original version is more Love influenced and not so Electric influneced
The best version of this song
Not a chance!
I wish Electric would have all been done like this. An evolution of Love, not a stark departure.
Electric was and is epic, you clearly don’t get it…
@@SteveHay-hr6dsyou’re right. That must be it.

The cult. Hell yea. That’s 80s 👍
Excellent videos! SUBSCRIBED! Thank you!
The original version (not a demo) of Electric Ocean that appeared on the OUT OF BOUNDS soundtrack. Vanessa Cummings, you're wrong!

CHEERS!
LOL- Wild Flower shots!
The true demo version is on RARE CULT disc 2 and it's lumbering, slow, doesn't have any swing to it like this posted original version.
never sux! Awesome!
Where the bloody hell did you get this? Are the extra tracks ( the percussion eg ) provided by the Cult? Sounds like it's based on the Manors : )
Noodles37UK, its the same "version", however this particular recording was apparently only published in the "Out of bounds" soundtrack
It pre-dates the PEACE (Manor) sessions.
This is the version they recorded in Quebec. It was mooted to be the follow-up single to Revolution but was shelved.
what’s with the cowbell though….
How good is this?!
I prefer the multi-layered Peace version.
