A lot of you are asking for a pen backstab/attune with motherwell's coin and rogue/attune sword test without coin. I'll do a second round of testing with those options as well as the Sword of the Champion + Motherwell coin once I get them all, so feel free to subscribe if you want to see that in the future!
I did a little testing with the sword of the champions with the mother wells coin and it seems to fall short somewhere compared to shadows edge and a keen jag shield
@@dkcon8985 That's what I'm expecting to be the overall out so far as well, since pen backstab is mostly for heavy armor targets. But pen backstab+attune might have a slightly better chance to keep up
@@dkcon8985 Is that because Penetrating Backstab doesn't stack with the Rogue on Mother Wells since they are both DmgCon perks? In that case you'd want a shield with Vicious
Could also run Heart of Anhurawak to get 5% thrust damage, Keen Awareness and increased bleed duration which should extend the bleed from KJ, past the CD. Also, the 200, and 250 Dex nodes, give you 10% more backstab damage, and 10% crit damage vs stunned/slowed/rooted enemies. (assuming you don't need that sweet sweet grit)
I'm running SnS/GA. With the recent change to execute I've found this the highest overall burst combo, and the heal from the perk is worth a potion or more. For PvP, that means I can use shadows edge because any small loss compared to Scorpio is negated by execute and is a better sword for light attacks. And this build is more to hunt dex users so it needs a lot of gap closers, ability to spam damage and burst
Very nice and informative video, great job. One combo you could try for the insane heavy attack: shield rush into shield bash into heavy backstab (for 30%emp), enemy dodoges away you leaping strike after into fully charged heavy attack. Leap strike into heavy will hit very often as the timing fits good when the enemy dodoges away right after stsgger from leap strike ends.
Thanks for this video. I got the scorpio sword on my second kill and have been using it ever since. Pairing it with a keen, vicious, keenly jagged shield and it’s been amazing so far.
I think you left out the most important information. You can do way more damage with a reverse stab and leaping strike after a shield bash then you can with just a heavy attack. So this combo is only good for those who don’t use reverse stab.
completely different question: For PVE, what 6 perks would u choose for the most damage against an enemy? Is rogue, enchanted, keenly jagged, bane, thwarting strikes and attunement? or which 6 perks would u choose?
You can run double bane if you get one of the round shields from mutations, a lot of them have different types of bane locked. Those round shields usually also have another locked perk for an ability, so you only have one slot that can random roll. In that slot, your best bets are probably vicious, keenly jagged or keenly empowered. On the sword, you then want to get bane+rogue or bane+thwarting, depending on what you value more. If you're rolling for legendaries, the best 3rd perk would probably be attunement. But at that point it's a huge gamble. I'd probably skip the attunement and pray for a keenly empowered/keenly jagged roll instead. That way, you at least take vicious out of the roll pool for the sword.
Rogue/Bane (Sword) + Enchanted or Vicious/Bane (Shield). The round shields with Bane perks come from Mutated dungeons: - "Mossborne Buckler" with Fixed AngryEarthBane from Gen - "Bone Wrought Buckler" with Fixed AncientBane from Laz - "Befouled Buckler" with Fixed CorruptBane from Temp

Yes, you can. (for half the perks you mentioned) Penetrating Backstabs deals around the same damage as Rogue (slightly more to heavy/medium, less to light), + Attunement that does the reverse (slightly more to light armor, less to medium/heavy), so in a sense, youre double dipping Rogue and using perks vs all builds. By far the best combo, as long as you can hit the back.
Ya, bane stacks on both. I tested it with the corrupted bane shield out of Dynasty and a bane sword. The only Bane shield in the game. You can't make one.
@@GlenironPa It's not the only one, tempest can drop a corrupted bane one as well at M10! A lot of the other mutated dungeons also drop other bane shields!
Shield should have shield rush, enchanted, and rogue. The sword should go with enchanted or thwarting strikes if 300 strength(they both stack with the enchanted on the shield), attunement and leaping strikes. This so you have max damage all the time not just when you crit. All IMO.
@@GlenironPa The shield you're describing doesn't exist unless you have a bugged shield. The only round shield with Rogue that's available is Motherwell Wisher's Coin. Enchanted + Rogue are also both classified as DmgCon and can't be rolled on the same piece anyways.

If you're entirely only after the backstab damage, sure. But 50 dex still affects your weapon scaling directly aside of the passive. Since I'm running it with GS, both of my weapons benefit from dex. I personally run 150 dex anyways because I want the dodge passive.
how not swap sheld ruysh to revurst backstab. to lower cd. if it just 1000dmg point to the over all dmg. whit wombo combo. our defensiv stans four more deffens and clens in pvp.
@@f1atline724 I had a scared feeling that be the case. Is it from the mobs or just the elite chests. NWDB shows just the elite chests. Sadly it doesn't specifically say where. I saw on NWDB some people got it from castrum aswell
U would get the most damage by crafting a sword with Attunement + penetrating backstab + keenly emp, and then combined with rogue on the mother wells shield, as u can no longer stack double rogue but u can stack these
I need to do more testing but I'm fairly certain pen backstab against light armor users isn't that impactful because it only affects armor. In either case, since you're assuming backstabs only, it would very likely be beat by a attune+rogue+keenly emp/emp leap sword + vic+keenly jagged/emp shield anyways.
leaping strike isn't a real "combo" you can roll after the leaping strike an always avoid the bash/rush. So any of the "combos" you tested where you open with leaping strike were skewed towards Scorpio since you got the 33% leaping strike bonus. That is not a realistic situation in pvp. The only real "combo" left on SnS is Shield Rush (only take first perk) -> Shield Bash -> feral rush or for full sword combo: Shield bash -> Reverse Stab -> Leaping Strike -> left attack spam/ Heavy attack. If you decide to retest the combo damage you should always open with shield bash or shield rush, as they are the only abilities that have real combos. edit- Just saw the disclaimer on the leaping strike -> shield bash combo. I just am confused how this doesn't invalidate all the results if your testing combo damage. Also you are overvaluing keenly jagged. If your considering just combo damage keenly jagged total should only count for max 3 ticks.
Commented the same thing just a bit ago. Empowering Leaping Strike is essentially a useless perk and should never be prioritized in any real pvp situation. As to your other comment about true combos, currently the highest damage output "true combo" is rush->bash->wrecking ball -> shockwave -> armor breaker. I personally replace armor breaker with path for more utility/range so I instead replace it with a fully charged heavy attack (if in heavy armor), an uncharged heavy (in medium), or a light attack (in light) - If the opponent is running a lot of freedom, you will need to scale down the heavy attacks to uncharged/light. I also replace wrecking ball with clearout as it still chains to shockwave the same but isn't affected by freedom.
Why would that invalidate all results? You make it sound like the enemy being able to dodge somehow makes it impossible to hit them with followup? If you hit a target with Leaping Strike and the roll instantly after (now slowed and dodge penalty'd while you are neither, mind you), you can absolutely catch up to them and follow up with Shield Bash/Rush. The combo you're suggesting seems a lot more hypothetical to me, since it requires you to already be in melee range without having used Leaping Strike. Also not sure how you're getting your math for Keenly Jagged, but it doesn't add up. If somebody dodges, Keenly Jagged doesn't just disappear from them.
@@DukeSloth because its no an actual combo if they can roll from it. Also if they get hit by leaping strike and roll away even if you land the shield bash 2 rolls later the slow will have worn off on them and your heavy attack will not be boosted by 33% like I said scorpio is being massively overrepresented in your results. Even in your clips in the video you don't land leaping strike into shield bash in your real arenas.
Why is it relevant if it is an "actual combo"? If it can be done to damage an enemy in PvP, there's no issue here. I literally land the Leaping Strike - Shield Bash combo right at the start of the video at 0:10, where the enemy specifically dodges my Shield Rush. And with Crippling on your Ring, it's definitely *decently* reliable. Arena is also hardly representative of the reliability of the combo since people use way more gear with Freedom than in any other mode. There are plenty of players with 50% Freedom, hardly allowing you to get a heavy attack in after Shield Bash. No hypothetical one-shot combo will ever work against those builds. The same isn't true for OPR or wars.
@@DukeSloth we might just play the game with a different outlook. I am generally trying to maximise my killing potential of the hardest opponents/skilled players I am going to face. People who are we can say better than average will never get hit by leaping strike in shield bash/rush so for me that combo is not reliable and I won't ever attempt it even against someone whom I don't know their skill level since that will put me at at a disadvantage. So that is why I think it in some way invalidates the results since practically speaking its not optimal to play the combo in that way since it is avoidable leaves you with wasted cooldowns and in animation locks that your opponent can now exploit. That is just my 2 cents anyway. I know how much work went into this though as I have tested alot of this myself ~1000 hours on SnS/X builds. Sorry if I came off as abrasive.
Against even a mediocre player in PvP, Empowered Leaping Strike is completely useless. Leap is primarily used as a gap close which 90% of the time triggers your opponent to dodge immediately after the hit (or counter if rapier or defensive gs build) this will completely negate the damage increase which is only 3 seconds in the first place. The perk used to be good when the debuff was 8 seconds, but even with the increase slow duration perk it's nowhere near good enough to sacrifice another perk (or two) for. Theory crafting is great but in a real world situation these builds will severely underperform.
The highest practical damage sword will be Attunement/Thwarting Strikes/Keenly Jagged paired with a round shield with Keen/Enchanted/Keenly Empowered (and a 4th perk if you're lucky enough to get a lego) or coin if you prefer. If not running 300 STR then swap Thwarting for a 2nd copy of Enchanted (they stack).
While I don't fully agree with your assessment, I don't disagree with it either. Emp Leaping Strike should last longer. But people dodging right after getting hit will also not get very far, you can literally track them with light attacks due to the slow and dodge penalty. In the context of the weapons we're looking at, Scorpio is still ok-ish without Emp Leaping Strike. But the whole idea of this build is to have the maximum burst possible, not the highest sustained DPS. The "highest practical damage" your describing is massively more hypothetical than anything I've tested here since it requires you to get a god roll sword which most people can't afford. But even then, your suggestions is likely not the best option. In any practical situation, Vicious outperforms Enchanted since it applies to all your abilities. And since you can push past resilient, you're also generally better off going Rogue instead of Enchanted if you're not running 300 STR. Even if Enchanted actually double stacks, I definitely wouldn't recommend running that at all.
Maybe, S&S is the best dps in PvP, but not in PvE, Greatsword has the best dmg in PvE, in fact, with Leeching's build you can make Genesis 5 DPS Greatsword without a healer... there must be a reason.
Greatsword is highest damage output in both PvP and PvE. Sword is still second but it's not really close. The only drawback to GS is that a lot of the damage it puts out is very predictable (multi hits, etc) and to do that damage you take a lot more.
Watching this gameplay makes me really miss new world. The most fun and immersive combat system I've played on an mmo but God was it an awful game and only 5% of players had the nuts to flag on a PvP game.
The game has seen a lot of improvements! Unfortunately, the low number of players playing flagging hasn't changed. PvP is almost exclusively instanced now.
In reality scorpio is bad, in real fight with decent players you will never be able to make your combos too predictable they can easily dodge, if you miss leaping or shield bash or any hit after leaping strike then the whole thing is waste when you can just take a longsword and make huge damage in one skill. I was excited when i got scorpio but realized quickly that it's not that good and there is much better stuff to do with other weapon than doing this 1% success chance combo.

Penetrating Backstabs deals around the same damage as Rogue (slightly more to heavy/medium, less to light), + Attunement that does the reverse (slightly more to light armor, less to medium/heavy), so in a sense, youre double dipping Rogue and using perks vs all builds.
By far the best combo, as long as you can hit the back.
You can't craft pen backstab and enchanted/thwarting together unless it's bugged. They're all dmgcon perks.
I'm wondering if rouge/penetrating backstab is worth testing and trying
Keenly perks stack?
still works in 2024?
Where i can farm scorpio sword ?
Are you sure that bane stacks on both weapons ? It seems op for pve, 30% bane + possibly 5 others damages perks+ leadership for the team, damn.
@@DukeSloth Ya your right again, looked them up. I have bad luck on loot drops for those bane shields. Only the one out of Dyna..
Shield should have shield rush, enchanted, and rogue. The sword should go with enchanted or thwarting strikes if 300 strength(they both stack with the enchanted on the shield), attunement and leaping strikes. This so you have max damage all the time not just when you crit. All IMO.
Enchanted on shield does not stack with enchanted on weapon. We tested it 2 weeks ago
@@johnweig4667 Dang then they did a silent nerf on it. When I tested it 2 months ago it worked. Gonna retest it again.
@@GlenironPa plz write. Perhaps I am wrong but afaik they did fixed it
@@GlenironPa The shield you're describing doesn't exist unless you have a bugged shield. The only round shield with Rogue that's available is Motherwell Wisher's Coin. Enchanted + Rogue are also both classified as DmgCon and can't be rolled on the same piece anyways.
@@johnweig4667 Ya you're right, they fixed it. Found my test numbers from August and enchanted stacked then. Not anymore. Thwarting strikes sword still stacks with the shield enchanted though.
And also since they have changed 50 int to now give 10% random crit damage and back stab it’s far more valuable then having 50 dex now
If you're entirely only after the backstab damage, sure. But 50 dex still affects your weapon scaling directly aside of the passive. Since I'm running it with GS, both of my weapons benefit from dex. I personally run 150 dex anyways because I want the dodge passive.
cant we use enchanted on shield and rogue on sword at the same time?
Yeah, that's an option. But I'd recommend vicious over enchanted if you're going for rogue anyways. You can outscale resilient quite hard with that.
Does ANYONE know if sword of the champion with motherwell coin does a lot of damage or just buy a rogue attunement sword?
how not swap sheld ruysh to revurst backstab. to lower cd. if it just 1000dmg point to the over all dmg. whit wombo combo. our defensiv stans four more deffens and clens in pvp.
While the damage and combo possibilities of S&S is fun, it is entirely unbalanced or in DukeSloth's words, "Crazy".
Killed scorpio now about 35 times (always a hussle to get a group for it together) and i got the musket 4 times and not the sword...
Ans and bb hits way harder. Potentially one shots
can i use life staf, im level 287 intelect
How do you farm for shadows edge ?
It dropped for me when I was doing acid pools
@@f1atline724 I had a scared feeling that be the case. Is it from the mobs or just the elite chests. NWDB shows just the elite chests. Sadly it doesn't specifically say where. I saw on NWDB some people got it from castrum aswell
U would get the most damage by crafting a sword with Attunement + penetrating backstab + keenly emp, and then combined with rogue on the mother wells shield, as u can no longer stack double rogue but u can stack these
Wait you can stack rogue?
@@ryanxbradshaw you can’t but you can stack penetrating backstab and rogue just as he said…
isnt it impossible to get penetrating backstab and attunement on an item as they both can only be crafted with a craft mod?
I need to do more testing but I'm fairly certain pen backstab against light armor users isn't that impactful because it only affects armor. In either case, since you're assuming backstabs only, it would very likely be beat by a attune+rogue+keenly emp/emp leap sword + vic+keenly jagged/emp shield anyways.
wait so rogue now not stack from perks and stat ? damn thats sucks
Yeah, they changed that a couple of times but atm it doesn't stack
leaping strike isn't a real "combo" you can roll after the leaping strike an always avoid the bash/rush.
Even if Enchanted actually double stacks, I definitely wouldn't recommend running that at all.
this video is scary man....
The only drawback to GS is that a lot of the damage it puts out is very predictable (multi hits, etc) and to do that damage you take a lot more.
stun like combos shouldn't exist. i want to build for sns, but i dont want to feel like a noob where 1 skill hits, thatsi t.
