I remember this song being played on the radio when I was around 10 years old. President John F Kennedy was shot in 1963 and this Nation was needing a song. A song that would try to find meaning to all of the hearts in our Nation. Indeed, this song played the airwaves for quite some time. I haven't ever heard it sang better than Kelli. I am in a new season of my life, so it struck allot of chords in my heart. Sending a warm hug Kelli and thank you for your time you put into these songs that you sing in your unique and gifted voice. -Tim
I’ve been to a lot of folk festivals and coffee house open mics in my day and I always know when I hear the real deal. You’ve got that magic, intangible stuff that very few singer-songwriters have. You could probably sing the phone book and I’d be mesmerized. If you take requests, Patty Griffin’s “Not Alone.”
"Cover" almost seems like a silly simplification of what you do. This is like a rebirth of this song, so fitting for the story you have behind it. Ngl it's hitting especially hard for me with the current everything. It can be really hard to remember that life may be scary at times and hopelessly uncertain... but the page will turn. Ty Kelli
Oh my Kelli, it was such a blessing to hear you this morning, and to read your story behind this performance❣ What a light you are. Once again my memories flowed, from the folk movement through folk/rock, the anti war protests in the 60s and 70s before I had children of my own to raise. I bought the single and my first album of the Byrds at the age of 14. Your voice and arrangement resurrected more than memories, it resets the tone for this time, and all times. Blessings to you and your family.❤🙏

After reading your story of how you came to perform this song, there's really nothing I can think of to say. You said that it felt good, and right, and that's a wonderful thing when that happens. A beautiful rendition Kelli, I thought the Byrds version was great back in the day but this one supercedes it.....Fantastic!!
I don’t know about that, but it’s very nice of you to say 😊. Thank you, Davie. x

Beautiful.
As always, you make these songs ours through you. Your description passage helps to know how you are so thoughtful and creative. You are wise beyond your years and I hope so many more people can enjoy your music.

That was great. It is an appropriate funeral song although I had never thought of it that way. The best written songs I think leave the listener room to wonder.
I agree… I definitely have experienced this song, now, in a new light. The possibilities are endless. Thank you. x
