Thank you for the refresher! I'm making a Churn Dash quilt (in pastels) for a friend far away. I went to my local quilt shop & told them what I was going to do. I picked out a beautiful flower fabric, and then they helped me pick colors from it for the quilt. It's almost a quilt "top", and absolutely gorgeous! My quilt shop always helps me, and another person's eyes may see something that I don't!!
Love that idea. Make a sample block before commiting to yards and yards of fabric. I’ve been quilting for many years and no one has ever suggested that. Game changer!
How about a show on picking the backing...If the top is busy does the back have to be plain? And picking the quilt design for the top after its completed. Is there such a thing as the design clashing with the pieced quilt top?

Thank you. For me, choosing fabric is the hardest part of quilting. I never thought to make a sample square to determine whether the fabrics work together.
Should I wash my quilt fabric before I quilt it? What about fabric shrinkage? What fabric is best? I am wanting to start quilting but I don't know much about it.
Patricia Grams Me too Patricia! But then I thought, "It's going to keep someone warm and that's it's real purpose." My oldest reminded me that I spent years telling my children, "If you do your best, what more could anyone ask?" So I'm going to go for it.
Paloma Stern You are so welcome. I love it too. While viewing a tutorial it dawned on me where to look. They also have a magazine Quilty with the quilt in it. I am assuming the pattern is included in it. Not positive though.
It's nice that your camera man likes your profile but I'd rather see and listen to you face to face without so much camera action. Great tips just annoying and distracting keeping up with the camera. Thanks!
Choosing fabric has not been my favorite part of sewing. I am excited about selecting fabric for my next quilt. Thank you. ❤️😊

got it -- scale, contrast, color matching (your choice).
This was easy for me as i find material i like then figure out what kind of quilt i can make i have never yet used a pattern

I'd rather make a few test blocks than make a full quilt that I'm not happy with.
