Around 7:10 when he's answering why nothing was done when they noticed he didn’t belong in the institution, he got choked up. So heartbreaking. He knew he didn’t belong there. He knew others realized he didn’t belong there. I’m so glad he was able to eventually get out of the system. How many others could this have happened to?
I stumbled on this episode today and it made me so angry, and so sad. This man was so clearly harmed by an unjust, racist bureaucracy. Honestly kind of weird for it to be a segment on "To Tell the Truth."
To add to my previous comment, look when he pauses at 7:13, he can't outwardly say why they continued to believe he belonged there even when they had evidence of his intelligence. This is one of the ways that racism happens.

I have binged I've Got A Secret for a few months. This is the first time I have seen Gary in colour.
A rare episode where I scored 100%!!!

It’s like a VCR.
Airdate?
Garry Moore hosted syndicated TTTT from September 1969 through mid 1976-77 season. Strictly a guess on my part, early 1970s
