The dark skin version is the non filtered version. It's very sad to see those people get so conditioned that if you're light skin, then you're beautiful. Being asian myself, at a very young age, I get comments that I would be beautiful if my skin was lighter or if my nose was pionty (has that western nose bridge). I would hear how my other asian peeps get comments about their eye shape (being monolids, not as wide or big). When I was younger, I thought, "Geez...thank God, my eyes are double lids, and big" (because I already got told about my flaws)...this was taught my surroundings from adults and not even from my own parents. Sometimes, my mum would give into that "beauty" standard, but my dad always made me feel comfortable and beautiful in my own skin. I am a proud brown skin and flat nosed woman.

ngl when i was watching them with the impression that the dark skinned tone was a filter, i preferred the "filtered" (the unfiltered, originally) better. in terms of attractiveness/good looking *on those specific individuals*. This thing was going on on instagram as well and i was genuinely just confused 😂😂😂

They all looked better with their natural dark skin and features. Looking like a Ken doll isn’t attractive. It’s so much more beautiful to have features that are unique to you than to look like you’ve been stamped out of plastic and then blurred to holy hell.
Ken dolls are also black, belike barbie or Ken does not necessarily mean looking white.
Schools need to be teaching kids from the first year to the last year how to love themselves just the way they are, to see their own unique beauty, be proud of their race & racial features. Teach & show them them that the majority of people they look up to on tv, the media & online don't actually look like that, they are edited. The standards of beauty are disgusting, it discriminates the majority of people from the very narrow almost impossible standards, there are to many people hating themselves because of it, especially young people. The fashion & beauty industries needs a huge standards makeover.

Something that might play into the pale thing, without being racist in thought: There exists cultural background around the world in that being paler was a sign for wealth. Not because they thought they looked like a "better race", but it shows that in that society you can afford to not work hard outside and thus do not get darker in the sunlight (an example is ancient egypt culture or some Asian backgrounds). That was also the case in some European cultures. Having skin, visibly darkened by the sun meant, yiu are of lower class because you have to work outside.
It is still wrong to look down to people because of financial status or their kind if work, but the origin is not racism but classicism.
In todays European culture it is tge opposite. Having skin, that git darkened by sun means, you have time to go outside and nit sit in a bureau without sunlight all day. So being tanned is a desired look in normally pale western societies.

This is just sad. Lighter/darker all skin colors have beauty. The only thing the filter does to make any skin toner “better” is smoothing out the skin tone for acne, scars, and wrinkles.

Damn, well I'm from Latam, hispanic, and this is a huge issue here and it's pretty common among all the latam countries. Pretty and white privilige are such a normal thing despite people of all skintones living here, we praise light skin and straight hair so much that has come to the point that it's the only pretty thing and that evolves to people being racism to themselves and doing everything so they won't get darker. It's actually very sad, I live this every day with my mom treating and talking bad about herself and other black people uugh
In Korea, it’s common for people with tan skin to get foundation that’s not even their skin color and is much much more lighter almost like paper light. They cover their face neck and even arms and hands with it because Very light skin is popular in Korea and even china because it’s known for the Korean beauty standard. They put the very light foundation on, and they sometimes put red tint on their noses, and lips and under the eyes because they think that having big eyes and a small nose and V shape facial structure is called "Cute" such as "Kawaii" (a Japanese word that means 'Cute'.)

Colorism and racism is sad, disappointing and from an unemotional standpoint kind of silly. When we look at nature and the variety of plants, animals and flowers we can see there is beauty in so many forms and colors- why then, is that beauty not seen or acknowledged in the diversity of humanity? Even when there are so many examples of non white beauty that exist like:
Tyra Banks, Naomi Campbell, Zhang Xiyi, Eva Mendes, Eva Longoria, Alexa Demi, Hyolyn etc. I really hope our world soon let’s go if this belief/obsession that the only beauty that exists is in white skin and features cause it is so limiting and damaging to the many people who are not white. I want people of every race to be able to see, love and embrace the beauty of their own people, culture and features and not feel like they have to break themselves to look like another race to be loved or accepted. A big dream, I know, but I hope we all get there one day soon.
