    Nice to see someone using light line. I’ve had so much enjoyment and pride using 6lb mono.
    However I must admit that these days I’m using braid and fluorocarbon but I keep it as light as possible. I like finesse fishing.

      Day5 Aquatics try using dickie spinners, if u don't have luck with the jigs def use white pearl needs with a gold spoon! try that out bud and if ur on a boat u want the West wind so u barely or never have to reel.. they will attack it like no ones buisness.. even if you're shore fishing. Good luck and tight lines bro

    can you do an episode on fish finder readings while your fishing for walley? I have a kayak with hummingbird 197c installed through the scupper and I don't know what walleye look like on it.
    never caught any yet but trying. I live close to Lake Erie in ohio so there's plenty up here but it would help to know what to look for. thanks even if ya don't.
    p.s. I'm from Florida originally so I'm learning northern fish strategies. you should go there for snook, boy those peel drag, and you would Ave a blast. you can fish them like bass but with bigger lures.

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  8 років тому

      +James O'Brien Great to hear from you James and fishing from a kayak is a lot of fun and Lake Erie in the Ohio area holds plenty of walleye - just be sure to watch the wind forecast as that lake can get nasty with heavy winds. Your finder will mark walleye with an arch shape and you will see them on the bottom or on lake erie, the also suspend, so you may see these suspended arch's. A good way is to put your finder on simulation mode and you will see how it marks fish....just make sure to remember to take it off simulation mode :) Good luck out there

    Is that Fin-s-Fish? lol. Also, how do to stop from getting any tangels with braided line. When I'm fishing, it's all going good but then when I go to cast I get a big ball of tangeled line. I've hear it's because I'm in casting against the wind but I'm not sure.

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  8 років тому

      +Jig Everything It was not a fin-s-fish, but very similar...here's a video on tips for casting into the wind and here's another one on the proper way to spool up your braid; ua-cam.com/video/pGxuM_eMwqw/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/CxZR0ZtvM58/v-deo.html

    • @Maintenance_Mark
      @Maintenance_Mark 6 років тому

      I use only braid because of rocks in my local river. Spider wire 20 lb test. Never have tangles or spool offs. Make sure you are spooling the reel right and make sure you don't put too much line on the reel because both cause your issue. There is no issue casting into the wind at all. I cast into massive lake Huron wind all spring

    Hi Gentleman,what type of softbaits work wi these flexible jigs when I try to thread them on with Berkley paddle tails they don't thread on as you show in your video's could you do a side video showing how to or what plastics work thanks for any help.

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  8 років тому

      Hi Dewman - nice to hear form you and we like to "thread" our plastic on the flexi jigs as the coil on there really holds plastic on tighter than the conventional jigs do. Just poke your plastic through as you normally would, then when you get to the coil, start to "thread" it on - you can use any plastic that you would use on any regular jig :)

    When you hook a decent walleye do you keep tension on the line not letting n e slack produce and baby it in or do you trust your hookset and just crank it to the shore ? I understand drag and all that just wondering on how aggressive you crank it to the boat ? Say 5 pounder or better ?

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  5 років тому

      it is best to alwyas have tension on your line - if you let it go slack, the fish may be able to shake it loose - even if it is a good hookset - sometimes, they shake so much that the hook hole gets larger and then the barb can come free :)

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  7 років тому

      Tough question Kenny, as there are many good baits to use.....if I was trolling, I would have to say the Viper Spoon is my favorite, but in not trolling, than you can't be a jig - either a regular jig or a bucktail jig - both work great :)

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  7 років тому

      Hi Kenneth - thanks for the great feedback - we are from Ontario and fishing the Niagara River which separates Ontario from New York - so there is access to the river from both NY or ON. The jig really is awesome and very new so many people do not know about it yet, but it is extremely effective on the hook set and will help you land more fish :)

    Hey Ivo, I always thought that a wire leader is needed whenever you target walleye or pike. Were you using one? If not, did you lose any fish by using a fluoro leader?

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  8 років тому

      +iPwnisher When fishing for pike, a steel wire leader will prevent being cut off - however, with walleye, although they have teeth, their teeth are not concentrated like a pike is. The walleye have many gaps between their teeth ad as a result, they will not cut you off. You will notice in this video and all my other walleye videos, I do not use any wire leader as it is not needed :) If you want to tie your own wire leaders for pike, here is an excellent & easy way to so so: ua-cam.com/video/uVUi-RuNvrU/v-deo.html

    • @iPwnisher
