🎉🎉🎉 The Scimitar is one of my favourite star ships! She was bred for war! I never understood why these movies got so much hate. My only grouse with this one was: it could've been a perfect opportunity with B4 to have a younger actor or blank slate as it were to play Data (or a version of him) in future installments rather than having to constantly explain Data's aging. "The Romulans fought with honour." Considering his history with them, that's a bold statement from Worf.
The Admiral Picard spoke with was Janeway, formerly Captain of the starship Voyager. Voyager was the 4th live action Star Trek series which ran concurrently with the third series Deep Space Nine. What happens in Voyager is critical to the Picard series ( particularly the 3 rd and final season). It's worth going down the rabbit hole with TNG/ DS9/Voyager/ Enterprise then Picard. It is an epic era for Star Trek. Many story lines interconnect across the series making it a rich and wonderful journey.
Shan, the only way to watch the crew have there own stories, you have to watch the show. There are reactors out there now that are doing that right now. An Ollie and a few others but the big one is The Target Audience. They did all of the original series, the animated series, 4 of the movies and now just starting on The Next Generation's season 1. In a couple of days, they will have episode 3 out on their channel. Very enjoyable to watch their reactions and hear them talk about what they saw. Highly recommended.
Couldn't agree more, I think Shan would love Deep Space Nine as much as Ollie does, and so far we're in the 'boringish' era. No offence to the show, just season 4 onwards is just PURE GOLD PRESSED LATINUM!!
The movie was cut down significantly during post production and I think this ultimately hurt it, as the scenes that were cut were mostly character-centric Scenes. The ending was also originally much more conclusive. The producer has confirmed that roughly 50 Minutes were trimmed from the movie, about 17 Minutes were included on the DVD Special Features, and I’m convinced that Nemesis would benefit greatly if these would be reintegrated to create an extended cut. I like the Movie as it is, but it would be much better if they released a longer cut.
@@OneColdMonkey The first two seasons of Picard are just, different than what people wanted I feel. The 1st season being the "worst" imo while the 2nd was more in line with Trek in general (time travel, a certain someone showing up, and someone else also showing up lol, etc.) so I feel it was better. But that 3rd season man. It's literally TNG S8, that's how good it is. You can easily slot that 3rd season into the TNG show proper and it fits like a nice tight glove. Plus, I think the emotional story telling and overall arc was pretty good overall.
@@LordLOC I couldn't even finish the first season of _Picard_ , it was so awful. Kurtzman and co. have NO IDEA what they're doing; if they're not outright ignoring continuity yet INSISTING it's all the same timeline ( _Discovery_ , _SNW_ ), they're butchering beloved characters ( _Picard_ , particularly Seven) or delivering animated parodies, all the while betraying Roddenberry's positive vision of the future (instead of Starfleet having a few bad eggs, the bad eggs had completely taken over to the point EVERYONE was a dick).
@@JLRules AFAIK Kurtzman is just the producer and showrunner, he doesn't write any episodes. (At least for Picard - Discovery he might have been more involved when the show first started) So, is it his fault - at all? Other than say, putting people in those positions to write and make the show happen? Same with Rick Berman after all, no? In any event, I didn't care for S1 of Picard much. It had it's moments but it was all over the place and we didn't get any payoff from the ending other than Picard you know, dying and being put in the golem body. Now S2, even though people said it was so drawn out and kind of boring - I enjoyed it much more than S1. To me (until S3) it felt way more Trek like, given the storylines. They sorta course corrected with Seven a bit, and the season capped off with a nice bow I thought.
Star Trek Picard picks up about 20 years later, with the failure of the Romulan rescue from a supernova, while Star Trek with Chris Pine has a different failure involving time travel back to when Captain Kirk was born..
To sort of answer your question, in the show Picard, season 3, is a continuation and proper send off the TNG crew according to most fans. Season 1 and 2 introduces some things that are in season 3 if you want to slog through those but again, in season 2 of Picard I suggest Encounter At Farpoint and any shows with the letter Q of the TNG series.
Glad to see you back bro. I always worry when a UA-camr is gone for an extended period of time. Some of the ones I watch just seem to have up and disappeared
Data has extended family. In The Next Generation, we met his first brother Lore. We also met his creator (Lore and his creator were both played by Spiner as well.) We also meet a lady who was married to his creator when he was first made, and Data himself tries to create a Daughter. Data's brother Lore was mentioned in Generations, as he had stolen the emotion chip originally. The New series (3 10 episode seasons) Star Trek: Picard Focuses on Picard 20 + years after Nemesis. But touches on Data in the first Season, and The Third and Final Season becomes a full on Next Generation Reunion. Also, i n this movie, we saw Admiral Janeway. She sent the Enterprise to Romulus. She is the commanding officer for th Star Trek series Voyager, which wrapped up shortly before Nemesis in the timeline. She was then promoted to Admiral, hence her brief cameo here.
Oddly enough, Season 3 of Picard is pretty much a standalone season that acts as a final season (and reunion) of the Next Generation cast. It takes place a number of years after this movie and you could jump into from here and truly enjoy it!
Glad you're back. Missed your vids a lot. Hope everything's ok. Went through a lot of life turmoil recently as well. Look forward to more stuff from you.
I, no WE have missed you so much Shan. Thanks for returning safely, and hope all turns out well for you, love your reactions, the internet is a barren place without you and your content, much love and stay safe my friend
I saw Nemesis in the cinema when it was first released, and when the credits rolled, I was absolutely floored to see Dina Meyer portrayed Commander Donatra, I absolutely loved her in Starship Troopers, but I never recognized her under the Romulan makeup 🙈🙈🙈🙈 For me, Donatra was a real standout character; I'd join her for a bottle of Romulan Ale any day 😍😍😍😍 My favorite piece in the score, was 2:48 when the familiar theme disolved into something completely different, in conjunction with the flyby of Remus, showing the developments on the night-side and twilight zones of the planet, before diving down to the Romulan senate. And, as another surprize guest appearance, the Praetor was played by the awesome Alan Dale, from Australian TV's The Young Doctors and Neighbours 👍👍👍👍 First Contact is still my favorite of the TNG films, but Nemesis is still an honorable mention, and IMHuO, way better than Insurrection 🖖🖖🖖🖖
Welcome back. It's great to see you again. I hope all is well. I've noticed others mention it and I also recommend the Star Trek Picard series. Especially season 3. A proper conclusion to the TNG era. Again, great to see you.
Hey your back! I joined the channel while you were gone and I'm happy to see you back. I was young when this came out and I loved it at the time. Pretty campy now but I have a soft spot for it.
Hey Shan, it's great to see you back! We have all missed you. Now, I'm really looking forward to watching the Star Trek and other upcoming reactions from your channel.
My brother, you are completely fine. Take all the time you need. It is really great to see you again though. Your personality is infectious I've been waiting quite a while to see your reaction to this one. While it's not one of my favorites, it's definitely one I've seen about a million times.
This was a beautiful way to end it. For decades we watched Data try to become human. And in the end, his final acts, he learned what it was to be human. When he sacrificed himself for his friends. It’s perfect
This isn't the first time we have seen a brother of Data. In the series they discovered a character than came before Data named Lore who the maker decommissioned due to "failures." The series is very worth watching. Very glad you're back dude!
You did watch Baird‘s directorial debut, „Executive Decision“ some time ago. The Admiral Picard was speaking to (Janeway) was (as a Captain) the Main Character of _Star Trek Voyager,_ which had ended its seven Season-run in 2001. And the Dominion-War which was mentioned in this movie and _Insurrection_ played a huge part in _Star Trek: Deep Space Nine_ (1993-99) This was Goldsmiths' fifth score for this franchise and his penultimate completed Score before his death in 2004.
Glad to see you back! I noticed when you were gone! I can't say that for a lot of UA-cam channels I follow lol, but I missed your perspective. I'm glad things are getting into a better place for you.
Hope all is well and hope to see you back sooner than later, I really appreciate your point of view on each film the reviews at the end of each video is something that no one does better then you.
You could probably watch Picard for a continuation, as it's mostly it's own thing. That said, watch the Trek shows... seriously. Good stuff. Glad to have you back!
In the script there was a line for the ramming scene, "the enterprise lunges forward, like a cornered beast that sees it it finally is within reach of it's attacker's throat, and dosen't hesitate" The scene was done 100% with models, only cgi was the shuttle bay ships flying into the screen. The rest was the models upside or tilted to give the impression of no gravity. Awesome reaction and commentary btw!
