ABOUT ME:
My name is David, and I play the mandolin. I've played with multiple award-winning bluegrass bands across the world including Missy Raines, Mile Twelve, Cup O’Joe, and The Foreign Landers, and I curate the weekly mandolin video series #mandolinmondays hosted by the Mandolin Cafe. But most of all, I love sharing my love of the mandolin with others. I run an online mandolin learning community on Patreon, and I also make videos to share my thoughts, ideas, and general mandolin enthusiasm with other mando aficionados. This was super helpful, I love the way that you start with a pretty basic version of the melody and build up. If you have the basic melody down, the double stop version is a piece of cake - and once you have those both down it makes it significantly easier to break down the licks version and get that up to speed! Thanks man
I love how you give a brief history of most the songs you teach! I love learning more about the songs I play.
So glad! Making these videos has been a good excuse for me to do the same! Thanks for watching!
The way you demonstrated the stuff is a perfect one. Thanks.
Really good teaching. Makes it simple and elegant at the same time
Wonderful lesson. You are a superb instructor, and I always gain so much from your videos. You describe clearly what you are doing, put your ideas in a broader context when appropriate, provide notation that matches exactly what you are playing (which is often not the case elsewhere) and convey everything in a relaxed, easygoing manner. Thank you so much for the care and effort you put into these videos.
Wow! Thanks for this awesome comment, Andy! So glad you’re liking these videos!!
Great player and Great Teacher! Just subscribed...love the way you break it down in small parts and play each one slowly. Thanks!
My pleasure! Thanks for watching!

You are my online Guru🤗🙏
Man, I love your videos. Great instruction, that is presented in a really friendly, intimate setting. Kind of like an American Paul Davids. That's a compliment btw. Im also in SC! Florence tbe. Anyway, keep chuckin' n cluckin' bro! God bless.
I appreciate that! Thanks!
A great lesson. Thank you David. ;-)
My pleasure John! Thanks for checking it out!
Love it.
Awesome! So glad!
...what you in (C) ?....isn't it normally done in (A)or (Bb) ?....at least that where , or even plain old (G) >
Yeah! As with most bluegrass vocal songs, this one gets played in a lot of keys. But check out some of those source recordings in the description here. There are a lot of folks who do this in C--including Bill Monroe himself!
