I have been consuming Kefir right after dinner every night for the past 2 1/2 weeks now, and I can confidently say that my sleep has most certainly improved quite a bit. As a matter a fact, as I'm typing this, I actually just woke up from a good night's sleep with zero interruptions at all, and I feel much more recharged than before. A HUGE thank you to Dr. Eric Berg for his knowledge and insightful videos! Kefir has become one of the best investments I have ever made in my entire life so far.

I started drinking Kefir in June 2022 after watching the first video. I noticed a difference in my digestion overnight.
In 1 month (with no other changes to diet) I lost 5 lbs.
After 3 months of drinking kefir, I started eating Sauerkraut and Kimchi.
After about 1 year I have gone from using 6 rolls of toilet paper per month to 4.
My weight has gone from 218 down to 205

I've been doing this for the year since the last video like this, and can attest with complete assurance that this works. Additional thoughts:
    1) add nutitrional yeast for a B-Vitamin double whammy. 🙂
    2) if you buy prepared kefir from the grocery store, get the UNSWEETENED variety; most are ruined by a bunch of added sugar (like most other modern foods.)
    3) once you've taken it, lights out and stay still in bed (use a sleeping mask if you have to sleep in a light environment.)

Last night, I drank raw, A2A2 Kiefer when I had my first wide awake 2 am wake up. one half a cup and I’m not kidding…..I slept like a baby last night. I am used to waking up at least twice during the night sometimes three times. This morning I woke up at 9 am. Totally rested and shocked me! I've been making and drinking Kefir everyday for years. I never heard of it helping your sleep. I usually have it as a dessert. Sometimes with strawberries, blueberries and raspberries blended in with a immersion hand blender with a tiny bit of Swerve added. I've never fermented it with a lid but used a paper towel held in place with a rubber band. I use a lid when it is in the refrigerator being stored until I make the next batch or to keep the previous batch fresh. I tried using raw milk and it gave me the most explosive diarrhea I've ever had and I've prepped for three colonoscopies in my life. Since then I don't experiment with any other type of milk than the highest quality pasteurized, homogenized (but not ultra) whole milk I can find.

But after seeing this video, the last 2 nights I have had it after dinner and I must say, I have been yawning at times when I would be bright eyed. I have gone to bed earlier than I have in ages; after 1 am and after 2am. Sounds late but believe me when I say that is an improvement. I'll keep at it and hopefully I'll see even more improvements. If you can't get raw milk in the US, I would encourage you to try Kalona brand whole milk. Kalona also has Kefir, a plain one with no sugar. Kalona milk is vat pasteurized, which is slowly raising the temperature of the milk just until it hits the temperature that is considered "pasteurized", and then the heat is dropped. This is very unlike most US products which are ultra pasteurized or flash pasteurized...which kills all the good stuff in milk. Kalona also does not homogenize their milk, because that is also a destructive process. I get my Kalona milk at Natural Grocers.
No, I don't work for Kalona, and I'm not paid or compensated in any way to recommend them. I started looking into a lot of stuff about milk when my kids were little. I personally couldn't drink milk without spitting it back up, even as an adult. Once I tried Kalona milk, it was like night and day. I truly believe it's because all the good stuff that your body needs in order to digest the milk, is IN the milk...but the big farming commercial fastest and cheapest method actually processes out all of that stuff. Yes, it does cost a little more, but Kalona milk is the next best thing to raw milk in my book, and it's worth every penny.

Dr. Berg. My partner and I tried K for a half hour before bed last night and could not sleep at all. We were totally revved up. It was just pure organic cow milk kefir with nothing added. Oh my goodness. We just watched the video all the way to the end and noted he was saying that, if you have been intermittent fasting, you should probably not do this right before bed. That, it’s very important. We have indeed bead fasting for 16 to 18 hours per day and finishing our last meal by seven. We took this at about 830 or nine. Ha ha.

Hi Dr Berg, I am really shocked that you say the microbes in yoghurt do not survive the stomach acid ( 1:32 ) as I've been eating Greek yoghurt for years and was always congratulating myself that I am getting some friendly bacteria into my gut. And now you're saying they're all dead? Could you please do a 'deep dive' (video) into what does or doesn't survive the stomach acid and the reasons why? For example, why would the bacteria in Kefir survive when those in yoghurt do not?

Dr. Berg, question. I’ve seen videos of a guy that does a lot of experiments under a microscope and applies certain spices that have antioxidants to bacteria he gets from, say, pond water, etc..and I’ve seen them die out instantly. But I’ve also seen the cultures from Kefir he mixed with other bacteria and the Kefir bacteria killed them off…but would other antioxidants that we eat also kill off the good bacteria we feed our gut? Is there a study on that?
