I’ve had a terrible time sleeping for the past five months since being on keto. Last night, I drank raw, A2A2 Kiefer when I had my first wide awake 2 am wake up. one half a cup and I’m not kidding…..I slept like a baby last night. I am used to waking up at least twice during the night sometimes three times. This morning I woke up at 9 am. Totally rested and shocked me! I will be going to bed earlier tonight with my Kiefer and see how that goes! Thanks dr berg! And thanks to my daughter who milks the A2A2 sweet cow named “Hannah”❤.

I've been making and drinking Kefir everyday for years. I never heard of it helping your sleep. I usually have it as a dessert. Sometimes with strawberries, blueberries and raspberries blended in with a immersion hand blender with a tiny bit of Swerve added. I've never fermented it with a lid but used a paper towel held in place with a rubber band. I use a lid when it is in the refrigerator being stored until I make the next batch or to keep the previous batch fresh. I tried using raw milk and it gave me the most explosive diarrhea I've ever had and I've prepped for three colonoscopies in my life. Since then I don't experiment with any other type of milk than the highest quality pasteurized, homogenized (but not ultra) whole milk I can find.

I watch your channel often. Thanks for your information. Suggestion: All these strange remedies do very little for me. If you can not buy it at a Dollar general, iga, or Aldi’s the average person has no access to it. Many communities have little access. Everyday American substances that you can buy and use, would be very useful.
Thanks for the presentation and analysis. I train muay thai and run hills 90 degrees. I sleep when my head hits the pillow. With my prostate, I consume keifer very sparingly
Great information, thank you. I've just started making kefir and I'm loving it with my bircher muesli in the mornings. I sleep well now that I'm through menopause but have passed the sleep information onto a friend who doesn't. I love your videos. Thank you for all you do.
If you can't get raw milk in the US, I would encourage you to try Kalona brand whole milk. Kalona also has Kefir, a plain one with no sugar. Kalona milk is vat pasteurized, which is slowly raising the temperature of the milk just until it hits the temperature that is considered "pasteurized", and then the heat is dropped. This is very unlike most US products which are ultra pasteurized or flash pasteurized...which kills all the good stuff in milk. Kalona also does not homogenize their milk, because that is also a destructive process. I get my Kalona milk at Natural Grocers. No, I don't work for Kalona, and I'm not paid or compensated in any way to recommend them. I started looking into a lot of stuff about milk when my kids were little. I personally couldn't drink milk without spitting it back up, even as an adult. Once I tried Kalona milk, it was like night and day. I truly believe it's because all the good stuff that your body needs in order to digest the milk, is IN the milk...but the big farming commercial fastest and cheapest method actually processes out all of that stuff. Yes, it does cost a little more, but Kalona milk is the next best thing to raw milk in my book, and it's worth every penny.
One of those outstanding foods! It's origin is in Russia, in fact in many rural parts of the nation mothers still use Kefir to help wean babies. Its actually pronounced keff-eer. With particular emphasis on the i sounding like long e's, and finishes with a hard R.
Anybody got the same - about an hour after eating a normal meal - and only in rare occasions - my stomach or heart area have a spasm for one second. Fitbit doesnt recognize anything and it just feels like a spasm and no other feelings.
I didn't know about the benefits of kifer, but tried it because I loved buttermilk and sour cream....... Later I found out it was healthy and common in eastern Europe and Asia and buy goat milk kifer whenever I can find it.
People in north Europe have been eating milk mainly from cows. Cattle is since thousands of years a fundamental part of our food and culture. We are determed to continue with this and fight for it what ever morans try to push on us. Thanks Dr Berg for information on important food.
I have access to A2 raw and grass fed cow milk.. the farmer is making his own kefir from this milk. This is insane, the taste is so good, im craving it often. Sometimes i add raw cream from the same milk and add organic blueberries. Its great! Very beneficial
Dr. Berg. My partner and I tried K for a half hour before bed last night and could not sleep at all. We were totally revved up. It was just pure organic cow milk kefir with nothing added. Oh my goodness. We just watched the video all the way to the end and noted he was saying that, if you have been intermittent fasting, you should probably not do this right before bed. That, it’s very important. We have indeed bead fasting for 16 to 18 hours per day and finishing our last meal by seven. We took this at about 830 or nine. Ha ha.
Remember it is homemade milk kefir that is the best. Store bought kefir can't hold a candle to this stuff. I slowly worked my way up to drinking one to two quarts of homemade milk kefir and I have learned to make many varieties.
Hi Dr Berg, I am really shocked that you say the microbes in yoghurt do not survive the stomach acid ( 1:32 ) as I've been eating Greek yoghurt for years and was always congratulating myself that I am getting some friendly bacteria into my gut. And now you're saying they're all dead? Could you please do a 'deep dive' (video) into what does or doesn't survive the stomach acid and the reasons why? For example, why would the bacteria in Kefir survive when those in yoghurt do not?
Dr. Berg, question. I’ve seen videos of a guy that does a lot of experiments under a microscope and applies certain spices that have antioxidants to bacteria he gets from, say, pond water, etc..and I’ve seen them die out instantly. But I’ve also seen the cultures from Kefir he mixed with other bacteria and the Kefir bacteria killed them off…but would other antioxidants that we eat also kill off the good bacteria we feed our gut? Is there a study on that?
I tried to make it, but it was an epic fail. I had help from one of my dogs who is very tall and pulled the jar off the far back corner of my large countertop. He got it on the floor, took the top off and emptied it out so he could enjoy it.
Kefir spikes my BG. However, I have vastly improved my sleep by increasing my fat intake to more than 80% and reducing my protein intake to less than 20%. It seems that my body can't process too much protein, and the excess protein was kicking me out of ketosis + causing major sleep problems.

This vid definitely made for a good start to my morning as well 😊
Dr. Berg, how about kefir coconut? Is it still the same benefit?
Im a dreadful sleeper - have been for many years despite trying many things. So I have some kefir grains and will give it a go!!!
I tried this and indeed it works wonders! Thank you, Dr Berg!
I drink Kiefer from time to time but in the morning. Now I'll have to try at night as I do have sleep issues
Take omega 3, magnesium threonate, zinc 30 mg, K2, l-carnitine, drink kefir, and a probiotic 50 billion. This makes me sleep good!
I watch your channel often. Thanks for your information.
Suggestion:
All these strange remedies do very little for me.
If you can not buy it at a Dollar general, iga, or Aldi’s the average person has no access to it. Many communities have little access.
Everyday American substances that you can buy and use, would be very useful.
Aldi carries kefir all the time ! Different flavors too.
Dr. Berg, hope you'll do a nutritional comparison between Icelandic Skyr and Kefir. Thanks for your Educational Health Videos.
Aldis sells it. That's where I get mine.
Just did this last night!!!! Bless you Dr. B!!!! Slept like a rock 😭🤍
You drink Hot kefir? Or cold kefir?
People in north Europe have been eating milk mainly from cows.
Cattle is since thousands of years a fundamental part of our food and culture.
We are determed to continue with this and fight for it what ever morans try to push on us.
Thanks Dr Berg for information on important food.
What if I avoid dairy because of prostate? What should I drink?
Is coconut kefir ok if you already suffer from candia overgrowth and bebesia?
I have been eating pineapple right before bed and as soon as my head hits the pillow I’m out. I dream alot more too. I’m going to try kefir too.
My sleep is perfect, thanks for everything Doc!
No problem. Stay safe and healthy!
I have access to A2 raw and grass fed cow milk.. the farmer is making his own kefir from this milk. This is insane, the taste is so good, im craving it often. Sometimes i add raw cream from the same milk and add organic blueberries. Its great!
Very beneficial
That's amazing. Happy for you. Have a nice day!
Love, love kefir. Started making my own about 2 years ago. Thanks for the information.
Wonderful!
Dr. Ha ha.
One day I drank kefir before sleep and I slept as a baby for something like 10 hours. It is effective!
Thanks Dr Berg!
Definitely!
How Many Hours Before Sleep Should I Consume Kefir?
Every weekend morning, i've been eating oats mixed with kefir & could not understand why i fell tired again after i just ate when i slept all night
Antioxidants are good supplements. They don't kill microorganisms.
Antibiotics taken for fever, infections etc do.
I tried to make it, but it was an epic fail. I had help from one of my dogs who is very tall and pulled the jar off the far back corner of my large countertop. He got it on the floor, took the top off and emptied it out so he could enjoy it.
If you are highly allergic to dairy, can you use?
Recently started drinking this, 34yr old nursed 5 babies, definitely need calcium!
God is good ✝️🥛 His creation is jaw dropping. 🙌
Also Melatonin a good one to take. I like how he gets straight to the point.
Thank you for your comment. Appreciate it!
Can kefir be used with berries to make a smoothie or will that negatively impact its benefits?
Where can I get Kefir?
Superb video brother!
Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.
Peace love and blessings!
Most welcome! Glad you enjoyed it!
I finally made my raw milk kefir, the raw milk taste good and hoping see the good result for the deep sleep .
Can I mix kefir milk with protein powder? Will the effects change?
Can you use kefir made from coconut water or milk?
Is kefir water as good as the milk kefir?
No
I limit dairy, so sauerkraut is my go to for pre-probiotics.
Kefir spikes my BG.
However, I have vastly improved my sleep by increasing my fat intake to more than 80% and reducing my protein intake to less than 20%. It seems that my body can't process too much protein, and the excess protein was kicking me out of ketosis + causing major sleep problems.
What are your main fat sources if you don’t mind me asking?
@@beautifullybroken2926 Pork fat, especially greaves (cracklings). Pork fat is exceptionally healthy. If I eat 200gr of pork greaves and 170gr of wild-caught mackerel, I will sleep like a charm. Also other animal fats - butter, tallow, sheep fat.
Thank you. I will try to up my fats, especially pork fat. I don’t think I am eating enough fat, only sleeping about 6-6.5 hours each night.
@@beautifullybroken2926 I used to be like that 😥
And many nights I could not sleep at all...
I've been drinking Kefir, I love the taste! I'll try it at night.
Good for you!
Hi Dr. Berg, so many thanks for your wonderful and insightful videos. Just wanted to ask if coconut water kefir also has the same benefits as milk kefir. I used to have milk kefir but felt uncomfortable after taking the same so I switched to coconut water kefir.
Why like the comment but not answer the question
Might be a video coming on the same ;)
I think that he liked your comment because he agreed that you made a great choice and all the thumbs up think so too. I didn't know that there was a coconut kefir... I'm going to check it out.
Maybe he doesn’t know some doctors R dumb and unlicensed.
@@munozkelly6278 of you don't trust him, don't see his posts. Noone forced you to do so. I have seen his info working..so I trust him. You have your own choice.
I avoid dairy ( recommendation of ND ) and wonder if coconut kefir works to improve sleep if taken at bedtime ?
I’m allergic to dairy. Would unsweetened dairy free keifer still be good?
will coconut kefir will work the same way ?
I was amazed when I tried it out right before sleep, sudden burst of relief and then I just fell asleep almost instantly, I dont remember the last time I slept so deeply, more importantly, I woke up rested
Thanks Dr. Berg on this video update!! Love Love Kefir!! 🩷
Awesome, glad you like this video!
Thank you Dr Berg! Your advices are helping me a lot! My health improved greatly after I applied them. You provide masses of helpful information and really save lifes! 💖🍀👍👍👍
