More than 30 years ago, Thai people preferred to use products imported from Japan or America. In fact, the products are produced in Thailand by Thai people but are exported to other countries and then imported to be sold in Thailand. The Carabao band therefore wrote this song to remind Thai people to turn to using domestic products that Thai people produce themselves.

And Thailand must face the clash of democratic and communist ideologies. All surrounding countries are gradually changing their government to communism. and began to spread into Thailand. There were protests and mobs happening all over the country. This causes the playing of music to relieve boredom among political protesters. This type of song therefore has content about the daily life of rural and urban people. Including politics. During the first period, the melodies of some Western songs were used to add Thai language content. And sometimes they use folk instruments. In those days this type of music was banned by the government. During the time of turmoil in the country Musicians and students with political views different from the government were therefore hunted down. During that time it was a military dictatorship. All politically active musicians and students had to flee into the forest to join the communist terrorist groups. The musicians in this video were all people who were in the jungle during that time and had to fight against government soldiers.
Oh i didnt know that. You had very troubled times like here in Turkey. I think those times, western countries tried same things to all countries for make them weak and easy to control.

We were forced to cut ties with China because Thailand was on the side of the Allies. and to avoid becoming a country that lost the war from allowing Japan to pass through Thailand to invade Burma and Malaysia in World War II. Thailand was then used as an unofficial base for operations in the Vietnam War during the 1960s. and entered a full-scale war in the late 60-70s. This period was a period when Japan was recovering its economy and there were many types of products sent to be sold in Thailand and many companies began to be opened in Thailand. coupled with the influence of America which had many military bases in Thailand throughout the Vietnam War. This is another cause of resentment between Thailand and neighboring countries.

*** I believe the story is that someone left the lid off a manhole cover and some people fell into the sewer.
**** Literally, they receive “face” which also can be translated “pride” [in a job well done] or “dignity”
