Thank you so much for watching Lynn, and I am really glad you enjoyed the video. I am looking forward to sewing with her - I hope she enjoys it as much as I do!
I enjoy the mid-week catch up too, Amelia. So thanks for that. Wednesday is a sewing day for me so looking at someone else's patterns, fabrics and makes is very relevant! 😊
Thank you so much Jeni! I loved that she knew exactly what she wanted to make for her dress - and that she had the confidence that we could make it together. I couldn't help but say yes!
That sweetie dress will be so cute. It was a lovely surprise this morning to see your video pop up. You have great plans. Looking forward to seeing the results of your lovely work. I've got an Arlo track top to cut out, I'm making a quilt for my daughter's friend and some bathroom curtains for us, also lots of hand sewing projects for the evening. Busy, busy. Looking forward to Saturdays video. Thank you 😊
I am so glad you enjoyed the little mid week catch up video! I think the Arlo jacket looks so lovely, I hope you enjoy making yours. Hand sewing in the evening is so lovely too - such a nice way to end the day!
Thank you Loriann! It was a fun outfit to put together! I am so looking forward to sewing the sweetie dress with my daughter and making some special memories together.
Loved your catch up video. It’s so sweet your daughter asking you to make her a dress and she’ll help. I remember when my daughter was that age. I loved sewing for her. Can’t wait to see how the Burda skirt turns out. I love sewing that brand of pattern. Always a perfect fit. Looking forward to more of these videos when you have the time! 👗🧵🪡🥰
Thank you for watching Sharon. I am so looking forward to sewing with my daughter. We are hoping to start this weekend! I have shared my Burda skirts in today's video, so I hope you enjoy watching that.
What a lovely surprise! Amelia in the middle of the week. I am sewing on a jacket for myself, just taking my time. It has a collar and collar stand, which has come together nicely. Working on the cuffs and sleeves today. Thanks for sharing!☺️
I am so glad you enjoyed the video. I hope you are enjoying sewing your jacket - such a lovely project for this time of year. Thank you so much for watching.
Thanks Amelia, I do enjoy a mid week catch up ! A pattern review is always welcome as far as I'm concerned so I look forward to knowing if the Burda skirt works for you. I am currently making a short kimono style jacket, all going well so far 👍
Hi Amelia! I’m usually a “silent watcher” but I am sooo excited because today I finished my first successful skirt toile and I am thrilled to make the real deal! You’re such an encouragement as I start my handmade wardrobe journey 💛💛 I am also working on a quilt for my grandfather that I think will make him very happy☺️ thanks!
It is so exciting when a make is successful! I hope you really enjoy making the skirt now. A quilt for your grandfather sounds like such a special make. I hope you are enjoying working on it.
Lovely video, love hearing what you’ll be up to this week with your sewing. Your daughters sweetie dress is such a lovely idea and I hope you both love making it. I’m madly sewing up snoods, hairbands and reusable face cloths for a market on Saturday 🧵🪡
Thank you so much for watching and I am so glad you enjoyed it. It sounds like you have had a busy Wednesday - I hope the market goes really well on Saturday! ❤
I enjoy this style of video too - I like to pop on while I'm having my lunch break and shorter videos are ideal for that. Looking forward to seeing how your colour block sweat goes!
Loved this. I am currently finishing off a knitting project for my grand daughter. It is the knitting for Olive lace leggings. I am just sewing over the waistband before inserting the i cord, and perhaps some elastic too. It has been a fun make and didn’t take too long. I recommend it and I am going to make another pair for another grand daughter. Sewing wise I will soon be making up some bridle and twig sweatshirts. I have 6 grand children now and they keep me busy and inspired. Enjoy having your helper xx
Thank you for watching Jenni. I am glad you enjoyed it! I hope you enjoy making the sweatshirts for your grandchildren. I am sure they will enjoy wearing them!
Love all your plans Amelia & the midweek chat is fun. Really inspired by your colour blocking plans for the Mile end sweatshirt & the sweetie dress will be adorable. Hope we get some footage of the helping hands ❤ I have just finished the Mitchell Trousers & starting on Burnside Bibs, both for my up coming trip to NZ. Long awaited journey to see my siblings & extended family😊
Thank you Cath, I am so glad you enjoyed the video! I am so looking forward to the colour blocked sweater and my daughter's dress. I hope you enjoyed sewing up your Mitchell trousers - they are next on my list and I am feeling a little daunted by them! I hope you have a wonderful trip home to NZ. It is a special place.
Anxious as always to see your makes. As for me, Currently, both serger and sewing machine are in the shop. I am doing some hemming on 10 drapery panels for a neighbor. She has brought over her sewing machine, so I don't have to wait for mine to get done at my sewing guy's repair shop. It's very nice not to have to wait the 2 weeks without a machine, as my sewing guy said it would take to get my machines back to me. Happy sewing!
Thank you for watching - I am looking forward to sharing my makes soon! You are very kind to hem the drapery for your neighbour. I hope you get your own machines back soon.
Thank you Amelia. Looking forward to the Burda skirt pattern review as I have this pattern but I’ve put off making it due to the consensus that it is oversized! P.s. I’ve made the view of the Mile End sweater (size 8) that you’re intending to make and the length was just right on me- but I’m only 5 ft, so you may want to check!
Thank you so much for letting me know about the length of the Mile End. I will be looking and measuring the pattern pieces carefully before I trace them out I think!
Hello Amelia. You have convinced me to join up the Closet Core subscription, I did see the jacket that is the first released pattern and liked it immediately. I am also a member of the Cashmerette Club, and I enjoy that, and have been making one of the t-shirts out of some viscose jersey, however, I put a hole in it with the seam ripper so I am going to have to order another meter of it. I will be making some 'Pleats to Meet You' pants from Pattern Emporium out of some double brush poly fabric. I look forward to seeing your vlog on Saturday
I hope you enjoy sewing up the patterns Allison! I think February's one looks really interesting. I hope you enjoy sewing up your Pattern Emporium pants. Their patterns look so great - I need to try one soon!
Lovely surprise to see you on a Wednesday , I’m currently working on a StyleArc Ariana dress ( I’ve stared holiday sewing very early) and a rucksack using a princess fabric for my friends daughter . Happy sewing x
Good to hear from you Amelia. I'm currently sticking together the pdf of the hug hoodie having never tried it before. I'm looking forward to giving it a go.
Great video as always. I’ve just made two ‘book bags’ (from Sew Hayley Jane tutorial) and bookmarks that go over the corner of the page - out of fabric of course and I used my cricut maker to cut a vinyl reading quote to go on the front. Then I bought a book to go in each as a present for close girlfriends! Diana
If I can get out today, we have some ice these past few days, I’d like to purchase what I need to finish a Burda blouse I made. Hopefully, I can then cut out my red coat. I might not wear it much this year, but I will enjoy it next winter. I’m wanting to teach myself some various hand tailoring work on the coat.
Nice to see your works in progress. I am adapting the Helens Closet hoodie adaption into a hoodie dress. I am currently finding the sewing of the kangaroo pocket very fiddly, lots of seam picking. I hope to have it finished this weekend.
I am glad you enjoyed seeing me sharing my projects. Adapting the Helen's Closet hoodie sounds so brilliant - I bet it will be so cosy and warm. Good luck with the pocket!
Lol. I'm completely opposite to you. I only like pockets on the outside of my skirts, dresses, and trousers because they lie flat. I get inseam pockets caught on anything they can possibly get caught on because they tend to slightly gape open since they are always on the widest part of my hip. I used to work in a school that was a very old building, and the handles, hinges, the little things that stick out to hold the door shut, and the things they slide into (sorry, can't remember what they are called) all stuck out a bit, as well as railings, window frames, and any number of other things that could pissibly stick out. And all would catch on my inseam pockets and rip them and the side seams. It was so bad that the children all got to know that I carried a sewing kit with me and could find me wherever I was to see if I would mend a rip of some sort. (As an aside, a grade 8 boy ripped his trousers from one ankle, up to the crotch, and down to the other ankle sliding in a ⚽ soccer move. Lol. I just gave him a new pair of trousers. It would have taken a couple of hours to sew that up by hand. ) But I always seemed to catch inseam pockets on everything, and blamed it on my height (5'10") and the curve of my hips. You are the only other person with that problem, and you are considerably shorter than me. No one else at school had that problem.
That is so funny about the pockets! I think our kitchen has quite low cabinets and our door handles in the rest of the house are quite low too. How lovely that the children in your school knew to come to you for help with repairs!
I want a sweeties dress that I can twirl in! But I'm making a Pattern Scout Birch vest out of tan needle cord at the moment. I suppose I can still twirl in that but it won't be as fun.
Hi like finding you did extra video I lost my mojo over Xmas so got pretty Fabricland a cream with cherries Keep up with the lovely videos As set time aside as love to see your makes Caroline Norfolk
It is great that your daughter is so interested in your sewing. My grown daughter had no interest at all. I made 9 garments in January, that's a first for me. I'm currently working on #10 - an English riding style jacket.
Wow! That is amazing to sew 9 garments in January! I love the sound of a riding jacket and I hope you are enjoying the making process. Thanks for watching!
Amelia: is the hug hoodie available sill? I thought you mentioned that it wasn’t. I wanted to make it. I was looking at the Mile end but I’m kind of shocked at the price of it. Do you think it’s worth the price? Is it comparable to the hug hoodie?
I am sorry, but the pattern is not available any more, which is such a shame! I am just sewing up the Mile End sweatshirt now and will review the pattern soon. I do often wait for sales before buying Closet Core patterns, but there are so many pattern variations, and I love sewing them, so it is worth it for me I think.
Lovely “catch up” vlog, Amelia. I do enjoy this style vlog. 😊Happy sewing with your daughter!
Thank you so much for watching Lynn, and I am really glad you enjoyed the video. I am looking forward to sewing with her - I hope she enjoys it as much as I do!

The periwinkle dress is beautiful
It is such a sweet pattern, isn't it!
I cut out a vest for my 2 year old granddaughter from a fine corduroy in a blue floral. Need lining for it however.
That sounds like a lovely sewing plan. I am sure your granddaughter will love it!

Love that your daughter requested a sweetie dress. 😂
It was so sweet, and she knew exactly what she wanted too! We looked through quite a few fabrics before she settled on this one.
Oh that sweetie dress is going to be so cute 🥰
