Rob it wouldn’t do much, the acceleration would overpower any of the ‘small braking’ the handbrake would do when increasing in increments. Even then the brakes would typically overheat due to the speed the car is travelling and the small pressure applied which would deem them useless...

FYI: when you have to use the e brake in an emergency use it like a regular brake by pulling and holding the brake release lever so that the lock mechanism is not engaged giving you the ability to apply or release pressure as needed. Apply consistent increasing pressure to the e brake pedal as needed and as safely as you can. This is just general advice. Situation dictates. Don't wait until you have an emergency to figure out how the e brake works. Many people don't use the brake properly or at all because they think the e brake is all or nothing. Find some where safe and practice, it may save your life.

@@Shiftry87 the emergency brake is literally just a mechanical means to apply your rear brakes (drums or disc) without the use of the hydraulic system. It wouldnt burn up any faster than hitting the brake pedal. At most he would have experienced "brake fade" if he didnt lock up the wheels.

A hard pull in any speed will definatly lock up the wheels but u would also lose total control of the rear end of the car. If u pull it slowly the e-brake wouldent have enough grip on the brakes to do mutch use in those speeds, especially if it hade to fight with the engine aswell with the throttle stuck adding forward power. For the most cases it was designed to keep the car still while parked hence the more common name parking brake.

GM: Hold the brakes until the car stops.
German cars: Step on the brakes, the engine will idle automatically. Pull over as normal.
@@michaelbujaki2462 Just turning of the ignition is the most simple and I see no reason for not doing that immediately on any car that has that option (unless that car has a turbo that as it is bad for the turbo but it is still better then crashing at high speed). You can also put it in neutral (even if some claim that was not possible on their car).
Many people think that is dangerous to turn off the ignition because you loose servo assisted steering and breaks but that only makes it a little harder to steer and break (they think with engine of you have no steering and no breaks and end up doing 200km/h down the road while calling 911 for help...)

jmarks881 it could have not been an e brake and a normal handbrake in which case would’ve locked up the rear wheel and caused him to uncontrollably skid across the road.. also you should never ever try and switch off the car with a key during this as it will cause the steering wheel to lock meaning you won’t be able to use the steering wheel... yet again causing the driver to have no control over the cars steering
Rob it wouldn’t do much, the acceleration would overpower any of the ‘small braking’ the handbrake would do when increasing in increments. Even then the brakes would typically overheat due to the speed the car is travelling and the small pressure applied which would deem them useless...
Wait for a straight section of road. Turn the ignition off to kill the engine. Turn the key back to the on position but don't restart the engine (so your steering column isn't locked). Brake to a stop. It's really not a difficult thing to solve

My brother took me out to practice this like yesterday! It could save your life one day I think it's very essential to learn ngl

@@tylerchaney1533 Burn up may have been the wrong word to use. What i meant was that the e-brake was not designed to be used to brake the car slowly.

Scotty kilmer: don't buy GM products or this could happen to you too 😂
Funny enough, the gas accelerator being stuck was actually a problem on many Toyotas about ten years ago. 89 people died from this problem.
If he pulled the emergency brake he would've flipped.
Especially in a SUV.
Diecast GuyKid flipped is a bit of an understatement
She meant pull it slowly
@@eman6343 What🤨
@@eman6343 Lol. Pull it slowly?
Doesn't make a difference.
He could of pulled it hard as he could... But going 100mph it wouldn't slow down a bit

Bing is better boomer
Pro tip if you’re ever speeding and you’re about to get pulled over just nail it as fast as you can and call the police and say your gas pedal is stuck.
Speeding ticket is still cheaper than 4 flat tires.
@@barbd8670 not if it going 80+ it's not
That's a misdemeanor
@@siamovi2423 Guess it depends where you live. Not in California, for me it's a 230$ fine and 1 DMV point. It's only a misdemeanor if you're under the influence, no license or a more serious driving offense.
Happened to me once, damn electric throttle body, all I did was turn off car and coast to a stop.
This is exactly what I assumed he would do. Confused why a gas powered SUV wouldn't do that.
Exactly my thinking. Although, I've only owned cars from the 90's/anything with an actual key. Not sure if something with a 'push to start' would have a 'shut off lockout' while going that fast to prevent engine damage.
Yeah you maybe, right. That's something to think about.
In most cars you can probably hold down the button for a certain amount of time for an emergency engine stop.
Doesnt that lock the steering wheel?
Lmao she could have killed the guy if he had listened to her when she said “have you tried the emergency brake” 😂
He would have flipped over like 20 times 😳
Not if you pull it little by little
I’m still curious if he tried to turn the car off ? Lol
Abyssal the car would still just accelerate again
@@seztogaming4186 not if you just... Keep the brake (pressed down or pulled up) until they turn the car off.
Ant R if he did the steering wheel would lock and he would have no control over the car.
0:35 damn he was going so fast he caused a glitched in the matrix
Øne-Hit Disaster lol
that dispatcher would litteraly kill the guy if he did what she asked
