This song is produced by their member, Woozi, who produced almost all of Seventeen’s songs along with their long-time collaborator, Bumzu. They also handle or at least have a high say in what they do, either as a group or as individuals. Hoshi, for example works with a lot of choreographers and are one of the group’s main choreographers during debut. He even choreographed for other groups too pre debut. What you said at the end is not that far from the truth actually. Seventeen was one of the groups who really pioneered the fresh concept for boy groups back in 2015. Most of kpop at the time were more divided into sexy/dark, quirky and cute. With cute being done more by girl groups. And boy groups debuting with “darker” or at least non-cute concepts being the trend. Even when boy groups do cute concepts, it would only be for a b-side or one title track. But seventeen you could say really changed the game when they debuted. Since most of their members at the time were 20 and under, they decided to debut with a song Woozi made called Adore U, which instead of cute, was more of a fresh concept, and really a breath of fresh air for the whole industry. It kind of opened up a new way for companies to market their younger boy groups without going too much into cute territory which might not be everyone’s cup of tea. And since then, seventeen has earned the name of “fresh-teen”. From there, they have continuously evolved by making music in other genres while also maintaining their signature fresh sound, sometimes going into musical territory, jazz, funk, house, ballads, EDM etc. Seventeen also consists of three units (Vocal Unit, Hip-Hop Unit and Performance Unit) and in almost all albums, these units would also have their own songs too. Vocal Unit’s sound is probably the closest to Seventeen’s group sound, but a bit more ballad-y and more power vocals. While Hip-Hop Unit (and specifically the member Vernon) has a sound which would be sonically closer to HOT. It’s not as hard-hitting but has some autotunes, and many sound effects. Examples include Back It Up and Gam3 Bo1. While Performance Unit has more of a house/trap/club vibe with songs like Moonwalker and Shhh. However I would still recommend checking out some of their other songs like Fear, Left & Right, Call Call Call, Fallin’ Flower and Home;Run. If you liked HOT, then you would probably like their new album, Face The Sun. It’s their first album after contract renewals last year and all 13 members re-signed their contracts for 5 more years. Which is a big thing in kpop since most groups get plagued by the “7-year curse” whereby groups would disband after 7 years of working. It’s also extra important because they did not have any member changes, as in no one left the group or no one new was added in. These 13 members who signed the contract again were the same 13 members who signed their first contract as seventeen 7 years ago. And what’s more they have 3 foreign members, and they signed too! It’s kind of a notorious fact that in many groups the ones who left are those from foreign countries. Because they sometimes want to focus and pursue a career in their home country, or reunite with family etc so it was just extra touching for us Carats (SVT’s fandom name) when we knew about the contract renewal thing. And they signed it a year early too! Which almost never happens. Anyways, Face The Sun is their first album after these contact renewals thing. And the members have said that they now want to show a new side of seventeen which is how Hot came about.
SEVENTEEN produce their own songs (music, lyrics and all!) and this song/album is actually a new style the group tried, but all other previous songs of theirs are definitely as catchy! Most of their songs are super upbeat. Thanks for this reaction video! You should check out other songs from the album. I personally love Don Quixote and Shadow! Also another song of theirs from another album you'd love if you liked this is "Rock with You"
Self producing, writing, composing and choreographing idols. This is their 7th year anniversary since debut and they decided to go with a more mature hard hitting sexy vibe and sound for this title track as they begin their contract renewal. Most Kpop groups do not surpass the 7 year mark in their contracts anymore. That tells you how good they are and how popular they are in terms of the Kpop industry.
Not all of their songs are as "aggressive" as Hot but Seventeen's production quality has always been top notch both for their title tracks and their bsides. I hope you'll check out more of their stuff (I'd recommend Fear, Home and Very Nice to see all the variety they can offer), they've been self-compocing, writing and producing since debut and the talent is off the charts. Also their vocals have always been top notch.
SEVENTEEN is a self-producing idol group. They basically do things their way and you can see that in all their music. And SEVENTEEN is versatile that they can do ALL GENRE and slay them all. Ballad, rock, jazz, hip hop, name them all and they'll slay it. I suggest you start watching their debut songs and all their mvs. You will have a taste of all genres from SEVENTEEN alone, that's how great they are
2:51 That's DK, he's one of their two main vocalists. At 5:10 that's Hoshi, in his solo song "Spider" he also sings in his high pitched voice. I'll recommend to react to "Clap" and "Change Up"
The guy with neon yellow hair is their music producer, Woozi. They’re self-producing from their songs to the choreo, and the new album tracks are all fire. Check out March and Don Quixote next
Seventeen just released a video on Dingo called Killing Voice where they sang short snippets of various of their songs. I think it would be a great starter course to get to know their discography :)
If u think Hot is a masterpiece, u should listen to the full album! It’ll defo make u wanna listen to their whole discography bcoz of how diverse they are in producing music and writing lyrics!!😭 ohh, they also choreograph their own dances along with a dance team since their early debut days…ngl, a lot of ppl do tend to sleep on them but producers love their songs all the time!
I enjoyed tour reaction, you made me notice new things and I'm even more in awe about Woozi's production skills! I don't really know your tastes but, since Seventeen has an enormous variety of genres, I'm sure you'll find something you like among their large discography. Personally, I like very much "AjuNice" and "Pretty you" as examples of their oldest production, "Don't wanna cry", "Thanks" and "Home" experimenting new things, "Getting Closer'' and "Hit" for harder rithms, "Fear", an evolution in itself, "Home;run", Broadway-style, "Rock with you" (nothing to do with Michael Jackson). Then there's their Japanese production, my favorite being " Falling Flower", by the same director of "Hot" but a completely different vibe. I'll stop my babbling here and hope to see new Seventeen reaction on your channel soon. In the meantime, I subscribed, because I like your inputs. Love from an Italian Carat mom💙🇮🇹💎(🥕)🙋🏻♀️ P.s. Carat is Seventeen fandom name: they are the diamonds, born under heavy pressure and we are their Carats: the more we are, the more they shine.
Thank you for reacting to seventeen and really cool insights. Please do reacts to their new album Face the sun songs and their other release too. I think "Rock with you" is a good one to listen to next.
I would suggest listening to Seventeen dingo killing voice. It is an amazing way to get a taste of some of their songs and still not even scratch the surface of their music.
I'm not sure if anyone mentioned it but Woozi, one of the members and leader of the vocal unit, has a large role in composing and producing the music for this group. Last year he even won Best Producer(producer of the year) at the AAA. He's produced for other groups and artists. I am always interested in the opinions of other producers when it comes to Seventeen's music. There are also videos of him working with the guys in the studio etc. He has over 120 songs credited to him. I know Dino recently reached 25 songs. Vernon has the 2nd highest number of songs credited to him. The members all contribute to lyrics and sometimes on production. Many of us though have watched them from predebut when they were all making their own music to when they made the music for their variety show and then for another show they were in. Watching them in the creative process from then to now just confirms to me how real they are. I hope you will take time to enjoy them. I would say they do have more music similar but at the same time this song and this new album is meant to be a new journey for them. They just renewed their contract. They decided to continue living together in the dorms etc but they want to give their image a new direction and basically become the sun. 😎 As others mentioned watching the Dingo Killing Voice would be a good way to get a taste of their different styles. Also if you love Hot, you would probably enjoy the new album Face the Sun. Thank you for the reaction. 💕💎
Seventeen is an amazing group! They're primarily a self directed group from composing, producing, choreo, design and directing. I'd recommend checking out: Rock With You, HomeRun, Left & Right and Hit. In my opinion Hit has some of the hardest choreo I've ever seen a kpop band do. It's truly impressive. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of their songs.
Please do watch Home Run, which they performed during MAMA 2020 and The Late Late Show by James Corden Being all-rounders, the concept is theatrical, thus they are also being called the Theatrical K-Pop group. They also performed "Hit" on Ellen, "Left & Right" on the Kelly Clarkson Show.
Thanks for checking out Seventeen. Since, you seemed to have enjoyed it, I hope you would check out their past songs/albums too. I assure you, you'll enjoy listening to all their songs. I have been a fan from their debut in 2015 and have never been disappointed with what they've put out.
Seventeens discography is so varied so no 😅 all of their songs are like this. the song right before this was so sweet and cute. It's called darl+ING and it actually links to hot storyline-wise in a way
If you've been in the kpop scene since 2015 you'd know Seventeen has always been the underdog pitted against BTS and EXO. At one point the knetz dubbed it EBS and a lot of army will debate the order of that acronym. But yeah slip in to the diamond life. 💎
this is a new color for them but if you do like this kinda sound maybe you'd be interested to check their b-sides on this album cause most of them have the same thematic sound but also very different? not very good at explaining sorry 😬 or you can check dingo killing voice for a sneak peek of their discography (not in chronological order though): ua-cam.com/video/8ca0xEJH9wY/v-deo.html

The contract renewal is 7yrs not 5

If you've been in the kpop scene since 2015 you'd know Seventeen has always been the underdog pitted against BTS and EXO. At one point the knetz dubbed it EBS and a lot of army will debate the order of that acronym.
