The way she moves her arms….it’s like they move from a gentle breeze, so fluid and gorgeous. Very very talented
There is a saying in ballet ”Arms like smoke feet like needles”.
I love how she almost seems to be trying to stop herself from smiling at times. It's obvious that there's real love for the craft in her.
Wow this is the best one I have seen on PDL. She dances like a proffesional, not a contestant.
True I got that impression too and she's also 18 so an adult. I'm sure she's been snapped up by a good company.
I think the grace and artistry of her arms and hands is what is so enchanting for me. They seem to be a secondary thought so often as they concentrate on feet. Just amazing.
She really seems to have a deep understanding of the music, the phrasing, speed, and little surprising turns. This is really unique for such a young age.
Oh my Lord. This gave me literal chills. She went into Paquita's signature pose at the beginning (arcing her back backwards; I could not find the right technical term) with so much refinement, beauty, and unparalleled flexibility. Her port de bras are beyond perfect; I was mesmerized. Her delicate and effortless grace is only matched by her magnificent control, the power she is able to temper so well, and her beautiful, nuanced transitions. Congratulations on winning, Amy.

One of the marks of a great dancer is to take an extraordinarily difficult piece of work, and make it look like the easiest thing in the world. What a gift she has.

Australia the 70's and did the whole dancing school thing for some 20 years ..the usual ..tap..ballet and jazz..and THIS was my dream ...I actually went to school with a girl who did attend this competition and was so in awe of her....I swear I lived in my Tutu! ...such wonderful memories made possible through dance.

Yes, both! Grace to make the choreography flow and provide the artistry with those more subtle arm gestures, and strength to execute that Pointe work (like the hops en Pointe) with a sense of ease, also to maintain extensions. I think this young lady has both qualities by the spadeful!

Maybe maturity or artistry? It doesn't have a lot of pyrotechnics like the variation from Grand Pas Classique so requires exquisite pointe work and shaping of the phrases. She deserved the win!

As I said in the video of Ronnfeldt's contemporary dance, her choice of tiara may have contributed to the mismatch in my mind. She isn't channeling Paquita, the bride; her performance is akin to a smug, arrogrant Queen Nisia from the now defunct King Candaules ballet. If any of you knew the story behind the ballet, one of the scenes involves Nisia being smited by Aphrodite for declaring her beauty to be greater than the goddess of love and beauty.
The takeaway from this is that competitors have to be very careful and deliberate about their choice of headwear so their costumes don't channel a vastly different character from the intended variations.
All that being said.... did you like her dancing?
Not sure what you're on about. That costume, including the tiara, is very reminiscent of the costume for this part of the ballet used by many prominent ballet companies internationally. A simple Google search confirms this. It's the wedding scene, tiaras are customary.

Love dancer but choreography does not go well with the music. It is a good job the judges could see past this!
