Great trip down memory lane. I'm from Aussie, I loved the Honda 600 mentioned and Thorley headers were good.

Cars still look gorgeous as I'm looking at them at 62 years old is when I was a kid in the 60s and 70s looking at them. 😁👍👍

The 1960's were the golden era of NHRA & AHRA Drag Racing. The shear amount of different approaches to building these SP/Gassers really showed the individual owners/builders style and mechanical talents. This is a really fun look back at racing's "yesteryear!"
Edit: I as well as you mentioned,, wanted a set of Hooker Headers for my lifted/off road Chevy Blazer but wound up installing Doug's Headers instead because the price was right. They turned out to be just right for my application. And, they really sounded cool.

Incredible! at 0:25, The High Heeled Sneaker has a shot. Ironic is that the car is from Wenatchee Wa. I'm in Wa State. Never seen it or that picture before. Amazing. A buddy has a 240Z with a 14:1 SBC1 283 and a 4 speed. He is doing the Gasser theme with a straight axle up front and big leafs in the back.

GOOD STUFF! (I've got a SBC MGB street car, see avatar) Baxter & Bronson Corvette was a SF Bay area car, seems like I saw it doin' wheelies/runnin' low 10s @ Fremont most of the 70s (BBC powered)

Around 1980 there was a touring show on the west coast with quite a few shoe-box chevys. With them was an RX3 powered by a wankel.

I got to see a Lot of these cars run as my Dad took me All Over the Midwest to Drag Strips . Back then , in the '60s , '70s and later. These cars depicted in this video Ruled on drag strips from West Coast to The Atlantic Shores. If it didn't click in Qualifying, they just stepped it up a " little more". I've said Publicly for more than 20 years , NHRA ruined drag racing and What it became Famous for. Real Hot Rods still exist and the People that build Them and Engineer Them , still exist. Yet , some of our efforts are Damn Near Illegal Anywhere.

A buddy of mine put a 454 in a Chevy Vega, it blew up soon after because too much power in a car that was a match box car.

I knew a guy in high school who had a Vega, it had a 327 with a tunnel ram and 4 speed transmission. The body was getting so twisted he sold it. I love the little cars with the big engines though!

I enjoyed other photos that show well know drag machines behind the unknown (to me) hot sports cars !
