The quickest way to prove that Jesus meant water baptism with this verse is looking at the context. Immediately after the conversation Nicodemus what did Jesus do? He began to baptize people!
”After this Jesus and his disciples went into the Judean countryside, and he remained there with them and was baptizing.“ - John‬ ‭3‬:‭22‬ ‭

To go back to the Greek the word again as Jesus used it means above it comes from the word in the Greek "anothen". Jesus is telling Nicodemus you have to be born from above unlike the fallen angels who left there place of habitation to come into the daughters of Adam (Jude 6). They wanted to thwart God's plan on our Savior being born that's what happened in Genesis 6 when the sons of God took wives of them in Genesis 6:2 and giants were born. You have to be of water and Spirit which is born of woman and accept Christ in your life. Seems as though people mistake this alot and even Jesus taught of this in Matthew 24:38 it will be like this in the last days when Satan returns claiming to be God like in 2 Thessalonians 2 his fallen angels are coming with him and will be doing the same thing that's why Apostle Paul taught when ought to have their head covered because of the angels(1 Corinthians 11:10). Lastly 1 Corinthians 10:11 everything happened as an ensample so take heed lest we be deceived

Most scholars agree that John 3:5 means water baptism and subsequent holy spirit infilling. It does NOT mean the natural birth which you allude to. Negative, the fact that Nicodemis asked that same question and Jesus said it was a spirit filled birth and not natural. Itis obvious you haven't been born again; like Titus 3:5 also points out is water and regeneration. In your case you can follow Acts 2:38 and receive the truth or continue in your line of unbelief (Mark 16:16-17). Though the evil angels wish to pollute mankind they cannot, as God is greater than them. Romans 8:28-37. Now is the time for salvation, but unbelief and Satan will be against you read Matthew 13 and James 4:17. Your choice but don't attack me like a wild beast for revealing the truth (Jo. 14:6). I have no obligation other than what I already said to advise you. @@FREEGAME38

IF the name of Jesus wasn't orally invoked then what cause would the council of sadducees have to threaten the physical safety of the Apostles, saying "And they called them, and commanded them not to SPEAK at ALL... nor teach in the name of Jesus?" Acts 4:18 Kinda hard to be then be punished. Whenever the vocal cords produced a sound that pronounced the name of Jesus, everything whipped into frenzy.

We all have a God-shaped void, that we try to fill with counterfeits that only Jesus Christ can fill.. he wants a relationship and fellowship with us. He loves us and wants to spend eternity in heaven with us. We need to be sorry to God for what the Bible says is sin. Only once we realize we're lost can we be saved by trusting and the life, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He shed his blood for us taking our sins upon him, and he gives us his righteousness when we put our trust in his finished work on the cross, asking him to forgive us and save our souls from hell.

During water baptism forgiveness becomes a spiritual reality in the believers life. This occurs because of the shed blood of Christ the Holy Spirit curcumcises our conscience and removes the guilt resulting from our wilful sins. This is what remission of sin and a vital part of the new birth process.
It bascically cleanses the " temple" of a believers body in preparation for the Holy Spirit to take up permanent residence in it.

Most Apostolics can’t appreciate this absolute, because it was normative amongst the sub-culture they were physically born into.
I was born into a Oneness culture. However, baptism in Jesus’ name nor infilling of the Holy Ghost was considered the New Birth experience, although, both were considered necessary as part of salvation.
The New Birth was interpreted as a perfected state, incapable of committing sin. Matthew 5:48, 1 John 3:9 and 1 John 5:18 were cherry picked to support this false narrative.
This teaching led to hopelessness and disbelief. Salvation became an impossibility, due to constant warfare with the flesh, and unable to become born of God.
Thankfully my Lord and my God opened my understanding, and I’m saved, because I was born again!
    I love TRUTH!

  • @Brock2048
    @Brock2048 Місяць тому

Hello, Brock here. Yes, I changed my user name since the comment that was read in this video.
First, I just want to say you gained my respect for taking the time to do this.
Second, you seemed to have made some assumptions about me, which is understandable. I grew up in the UPCI. I was baptized in Jesus name and spoke in tongues A LOT. I graduated from a UPCI Bible College, had a local license and even had a district position. So I am not new to Oneness Pentecostalism by any stretch.
Third, I would probably have to make a video myself to address everything you say, but I do still believe you have not made a good argument. I think you have made a convincing argument to those not familiar with the whole of the New Testament and how to identify a false gospel. You could teach almost anything in convincing fashion by pulling bits and parts from all over Scripture. Mormons, JWs and even flat earthers do this same thing to make their teachings convincing.
I think a fair and reliable benchmark for identifying a false gospel is if you can find your gospel within Galatians. Why is Galatians significant? It is in Galatians where every group will pull on Paul’s emphasis that there is only one Gospel and preaching any other gospel results in condemnation. Every false group will use Galatians 1:6-9 and will follow that up by teaching their gospel from other portions of Scripture as if Paul was talking about their gospel. But Paul was talking about a very specific gospel, and one that he goes on to explain in Galatians. So if you can’t find your Gospel in Galatians, your Gospel is the false one. And if you read Galatians, you will find modern day protestants get the idea of salvation being by grace through faith apart from works, not from Luther but from Paul.
I only recall hearing you use one verse in Galatians in this whole video, and that was just a quick reference to baptism in 3:27. This water and spirit paradigm you speak of is not taught in Galatians. In fact it is not blatantly and clearly taught anywhere in Scripture. According to this teaching, Acts is supposed to be the fulfillment of being born of the water and Spirit from John 3:5, but we don’t find any reference to being born again anywhere in Acts. And if water baptism in Jesus name and speaking in tongues was the model for every true conversion, why do we only have 3 clear examples (Samaritans in Acts 8, Cornelius in Acts 10 and Johns disciples in Acts 19). There is many many more conversions that take place in Acts that do not follow this model. In addition, in Acts 15, we have the Jewish church leaders determining what the Gentiles need to do to enter the kingdom. Peter describes how the Gentiles in Acts 10 were brought into the church in Acts 15:7-11 and describes this idea of being saved by grace apart from works that you called devilish. Again, we don’t get our salvation plan of faith apart from works from Luther but from Peter.
Finally, touché on James 2:7. That is one verse I did not consider before my previous comment. In looking at many commentaries and different translations on this verse, I will admit this is definitely referring to an invoking of the name of Jesus that was most likely done at baptism. It appears to be in doubt whether it was the baptizee or the baptizer that was invoking the name, but let’s just say it was the baptizer that was invoking the name of Jesus. This would mean we have one example in Scripture of Jesus’ name being invoked at the baptism of these people by the baptizer. Does this mean we can then conclude that this invocation is in reference to a sort of magic spell, incantation or computer password where the guy baptizing you has to say the correct words over you while you are being baptized or you are expelled from God’s kingdom? I’d say to reach that conclusion from James 2:7 is a huge stretch. And it is an even bigger stretch to make this conclusion with any other verse you provided to support your Jesus name baptism doctrine, since no other verse says “they said these words over this person while he was being baptized.”
I 100% believe in baptism in Jesus name. I just think turning Jesus name into a magic spell is where we have greatly missed the point.
Despite my continued disagreement with the points made in this video, I greatly appreciate you taking the time. I certainly admire the effort, and I pray that you also become acquainted with the wonderful gospel of salvation in Christ’s cross.

Just to add one more thing, I said in my original comment that I believe “born of water” is a reference to water being used an as analogy of the cleansing transformative power of the Spirit as it is used in John 4:14 and 7:37. This lines up with Jesus expecting Nicodemus to understand based on him being a master of Israel since the Old Testament also uses water in this way often, one prime example is Ezekiel 36:25-27. I agree with you that being born of water referring to natural birth is not a viable interpretation. And I still think saying it is water baptism is eisegesis, placing the Oneness Pentecostal understanding on to the text.
Just thought I’d add that because I believe you only referenced natural birth as the only other interpretation people hold to. If I missed you addressing my understanding of this passage, then I apologize.

We need the righteousness of Jesus Christ applied to our account so we can get to God, have a relationship with Him and go to heaven. The only way to get Jesus Christ's righteousness applied to our account is put our trust in his finished work on the cross. He shed his blood to cover our sin.. he took God's wrath.. he took our hell, and in turn he gives you his righteousness. What a loving God! Why would you take a chance on holding onto your own righteousness which is as filthy rags according to the Bible. You see friend, we are all sinners in need of a Saviour!
