I can imagine Lady Bridgerton singing this (obvs) but with Lady Danbury doing the harmonising bit at the end. She is the parent figure for Simon and it ties in with the theme of his need for perfection
I believe the concept of it, which Emily and Abigail said in a live was that the other mothers of the Ton would join in. Because whilst it’s based on the Bridgerton’s all the mothers feel a sense of failure and a sense of need to balance the scales.
The way I saw it was that Lady Bridgerton sings “making sure they learn” so Daphne is prepared for marriage and knows to marry for love. Lady Featherington sings “making sure they’re perfect” because she’s trying hard to get her daughters married despite them not being the most desirable in the room. She tries even harder after her husband gambles away all the money. Lady Danbury sings “making sure their worth is something that they know” to Simon since he has always felt worthless as a kid for not pleasing his father. Therefore, she would want him to realize he is worthy of love and a family and has turned out to be a great man.
@@cindyxoxo3738 Oh that's such a good way of looking at it! Of course with just Abigail singing it, it can be hard to hear potentially different characters singing the lines (still beautiful though), but I love this idea!
I could imagine lady bridgerton starting this song, mrs Danbury joining and then all the mamas singing together because they are all so stressed and afraid for their girls during the debutante season
"Making sure their worth is something that they know." This line hits me so deeply! It sounds like something Lady Danbury would make sure to always remind Simon, seeing as he grew up without a mother and his father made him feel like nothing
This should be a song for Violet, Lady Featherington and Lady Danbury✨ Making sure they learn: Lady Danbury Making sure they’re perfect: Lady Featherington Making sure they’re worth is always something that they know: Violet It’s just perfect🤍
Ok here me out, so from the start up to "edmund are you there i was unaware etc ..." Violet Bridgeton sings with Daphnie Bridgeton infront of her looking upset but she is frozen in time, then whilst Violet is humming just before the Edmund part lady Danbury and lady featherington walk on either side of her with Simon and Penelopie infront of them in the same sort of way daphnie is and featherington joins in first with the first "balancing the scales, I did the best I could but still I have failed etc.." then on the 2nd "balancing the scales want them to see the world bit ill always care etc..." thats when lady Danbury joins in and they all harmonise whilst the other mothers walk on to the stage for the last and softest "balancing the scales all my job entails all the way to the end" Sorry its long but I couldn't stop thinking about it! 😭
Ahaha they’re from the Barlow and bear website, all I did was made the lyrics video and then played the song on the website and played the video in time with the song and did a screen recording x
How did you get this?!?!?! I am in tears but I feel like I should find where this was originally posted cause I am SHOOOOOOOOOK. Seriously though, this song makes me cry 😭 It’s so good!
@2.01 - should the lyrics say "their" worth? As it is now, "Making sure *they are worth* is always something that they know" ... Thanks for posting this. 😊

Oh I was more thinking the second voice was like the ghost of Edmond but this makes more sense 🤣
