It is amazing how many kits Dimensions has published over the years. There are sooooo many more that I don't even have and well, I am not going to get them all, of course. At the moment there are just three more that I would want. I am so happy that you enjoyed the kit parade! I hope your wish list got a bit longer... :)
I really enjoyed seeing part 1 of your kit parade. So many beautiful kits and lot so fun stitching ahead for you. The hedgehog kit is so adorable and I hope you find a fabric that you like to stitch it on. I am glad that you are going to have fun baking something for your husband. Just have fun and don’t worry about anything. If we never try to do something we don’t know if we can do it or not. Just trying is so wonderful no matter how things come out. We should be proud of ourselves for putting forth the effort. Jesus was the only perfect person, so we don’t have to try to be perfect. Thank you so much Pam! I was looking at the cookbook yesterday and found a bread loaf that I would love to try. it is mustard pretzel loaf. Sounds great, but it does include immersing the whole loaf in boiling water before baking it in the oven. Eeeeeek!!!!! It sounds very scary, but gosh, I am so tempted. LOL.
I am so glad you enjoyed seeing the kits. I most definitely have a LOT of stitching to do. I am trying really hard to not start any kits now, other than one per month which I am doing for the kitandcaboodlesal. Need to work on those wips.
Laura, you are such a delight to watch. The joy and love for your collection and your stitching, is delightful to see. I understand your struggle with anxiety, I have been fighting it for years. One step at a time is the only way to get through it. I lost my father in 2000, I still can't talk about him without the tears flowing. It just shows the love you had for each other, never worry about showing your emotions..

Anxiety really is so difficult to deal with, especially as through the years it takes away any self confidence you may have had and therefore the anxiety gets even worse. +big sigh+ anyway, I am so glad to hear you enjoyed the kit parade. They are just so easy... no need to find the right fabric and buy threads etc. And there are indeed such a huge variety of them, too.

Well you win for having the most kits and some really cute ones. It is obvious your father meant a lot to you and that kit will bring happy memories at some point. I lost my dad in 2014 and a day never goes by that I don't think about him but now it's mostly happy memories. I love the idea of you doing the cookbook reviews and cooking something from them. When I downsized and moved across country I got rid of all of my cookbooks and I really miss them. You seem very happy doing flosstube and it's so nice catching up on all of your videos. LOL. It is crazy how many kits I have at the moment. And especially considering that I started all my kits just a couple of years ago! I have no idea how I have managed to gather so many of them again. But kits are so lovely though. ❤
So many wonderful kits! Many I haven't seen before. Just love Prickly Pot and how special that it has a connection with your dad. I purchased her Mother's and Babies book recently and love her designs/art.

God bless you, Laura! I know just how you were feeling when you told us of your father. My father died in February, 2021. He was 90 (almost 91) and had a good, full life. Nevertheless, we are never ready to let them go. I was also a distance away; not in separate countries, but in different states. I’ll never stop missing him or my sainted mother. They were such good parents. NOW … on another subject: Don’t stress if you’re not able to reply to every comment. It’s enough to know that you’re kindhearted enough to want to do that. Once again, I have truly enjoyed watching and look forward to next time! ❤

Laura, condolences on the loss of your father. Seems no matter how old our parents are when they go, it is never long. I've lost both parents and still mourn and miss them regularly, so I feel your pain and am sorry you're going through it. Since that pattern reminds you of your dad, it needs to be on just the right fabric. Perhaps if you contact one of the cross stitch stores in Australia, they can help you with fabric choice. And as to your kits, wow! So many beautiful patterns there. Why is it that seeing kits, with the fabric and all the threads, is just so good for the soul. Take care, Arleen

I think what I need to do first is to have a look at the threads and see if they match the colours on the cover or whether they look different too and go from there. I will have a bit better idea of what colour the fabric needs to be. ❤

First and foremost... feel hugged tight! I'm so very sorry for your loss and you don't need to apologize for any tears or feelings, dear! It just shows how much you love him and that's wonderful, even with sad feelings because of the loss. (hug)
I'ld love to become your penpal, if you like to :) I wrote a lot in the past, but like you I had a time where I couldn't keep up with it, because of my mental health. It all was just too much. But I'ld love to get back into it, because it brought me so much joy.
At the moment I'm trying to get into canning and I really do feel your anxiety, 'cause I'm the same. I'm frightened of failing or that it won't taste good. But I keep remembering me of something I heared while watching someone to help me becoming more confident in myself. She said (and I heared it a lot more times after I heared it from her)... successful people are successful, because they fail. They fail often and continuously, just rearranging things and trying over and over again until it works. And then they become successful. So, failing is they way to success.
And after I heared that I thought about it for a long time, and even I'm still scared those words help me setting it all up and wanting to try... I just need to take that last step and do it (do have everything). And also I will start with something very, very easy, so messing up won't be very possible XD (will start with easy jam and will try to can some soup afterwards). And hopefully that will help me to really get started, but I love watching others do it! (I really want to do all the things, prepare and think about, but never start, because of the anxiety of failing... a neverending story unless I'll change it... but like I'm sure you know.... easier said then done... but we can do it! We can!!! )
If you try a recipe from that book... maybe you could send me a screenshot of it via IG and we could do it together? I don't have that book, unfortunately, but would love to do it together with you, 'cause it would encourage me to do so, because of you and maybe also you because of me :)
And last, but not least... so many awesome kits!!!! I need to have a look for the Merejka one with the robins! So beautiful!!!
Don't understand why they didn't put the right flosses or fabric in some of the pieces... so missleading for anyone who wants they endresult like it is on the packaging.

OH yes, I absolutely hate it when a cover picture on anything stitchy looks so different from how the end result does. Grr... makes me grumpy!!! It happens too often.

Maggie the Messmaker is my oldest wip since 1990s I think. I’m about 25% complete. Learn to make jam. If you make a mess, so what. Clean it up. Your kit choices look like so much fun.

I cannot wait to see some of these kits stitched, especially the one in memory of your father. I would RIT dye the fabric you like the most with maybe a blue dye.

@@istitchbirds it is easier than making jam. Wet your Aida (white is best). Boil water with half cup of salt. Transfer hot water into another pot or bowl. Add a 1-3 drops of dye. Stir. Place wet Aida in bowl. Stir, keeping fabric covered in hot solution. After 30 seconds, check fabric for color. Add a drop or two at most. The longer you soak, the deeper the color. Run fabric under warm water from faucet until color is not running off it. Then run it under cold water for a few seconds. Then dry it by hanging it (if you use a dryer, the color could lighten up).

I enjoyed seeing all your kits. My favourite is 18 ct Aida using 1 strand of thread but I don't stitch large pieces like you do.
I saw the first Robin of the year in our back yard on Easter Monday. Here on the Canadian prairies they are one of the first signs of spring along with the geese migration north.

But you stitch on 18ct???? Eeeek! Noooo!!!! lol I think I tried once with one strand on it, but I wasn't so happy with the coverage. But then again, 2 strands feels like too much. Even worse when a Dimensions kit wants you to use 3-5 strands on it! That is not happiness at all. LOL.
Ooh, you have robins there! I sure do hope that I will get to see one someday. I miss seeing the birds showing the summer getting closer in Finland. When the swallowtail would arrive, it was summer! Here we seem to have the same birds all year round. Well, i must say I never complain about seeing cockatoos. They are just so amazing.

@@istitchbirds Maggie is still unopened. I typically don't have a lot of projects going at one time, since I typically choose the larger designs. Plus, I'm slow! I actually enjoy the process of stitching, so I don't mind fewer finishes.

Can't wait for you to start the chicken one from Thea Governour. I am stitching it as well on and off. So big. I order the one with the linen fabric so a little different. Was worried about the 1 over 1 as well but enjoying it. Though I coffee tea dyed the fabric to hoping to shrink it also a tiny bit.

I am tempted to start it every time I look at it. But it is indeed pretty darn big, which is scary! eek! Maybe I need to work hard on the wips for now and finish a few and then I can bring that one out. It will be nice!
I am now having kit envy once again! I have quite a few Dimensions kits already but I may have to look for a few others now! I also have been a letter writer for decades. Actually writing letters has gone out of style. Most of my pen pals are now via email. Fun but not the same. If you ever decide to get back to letter writing and want a cross stitch obsessed pen friend let me know!!😊

Nice to see your kits Laura. I agree about fractional stitches on aida - they're a pain! I have a DMC kit (Waratah Bouquet) which I started on the kit aida but ended up restarting on evenweave and its much more enjoyable to stitch and looks a lot better too.
Ooh, that waratah bouquet kit is such a pretty one! Gorgeous colours. oh boy, I can just imagine all the fractional stitches. I did the DMC cooktown orchid one and fractionals were never ending. Eek!

Yes, my husband is learning Japanese pretty much for fun. He has been to Japan once and would love to go again and hopefully be able to read the signs and speak at least a bit this time. We both like languages!
Talking about my father got me feeling so sad for a couple of days, but thankfully this morning I woke up feeling so much better again. Yippee! ❤

I have those same kind of dreams almost every night. I write about them each morning and that is how I describe mine. Not exactly bad dreams, but anxiety producing dreams. Strangely I do sleep well though getting about 8 hours each night.
Oh no!!! I am so sick of these dreams... they are just always so strange and so full of anxiety. I wish I was getting 8 hours each night. Well, my sleep rhythm has been weird for several years now. At some point I was worrying so much that it felt to me safer to be up in the middle of the night when the rest of the world was sleeping (ok, at least the rest of Australia. LOL) and that's when I would do things. Now I do want to sleep during the night, but I am struggling to get into that normal rhythm. Also, when I am anxious I want to escape to sleep sometimes... so the cats and I nap a lot. :)

I already found some nice recipes in the cookbook. A couple of pretty easy ones, so I am sure I will manage to make at least one of those. So keen to get my baking mojo back.
@@istitchbirds About the dandelions kit: Yeah, I had told you in that comment that I kept having to pause your WIP parade to go add things to shopping carts. And when you got to the Durene Jones Plant a Garden project, my willpower finally collapsed and I just instantly went and bought it (along with another of her patterns because I can never get away from her Etsy shop with just one pattern). And you have to take the blame/credit for both of them because I wouldn't have been there if not for you! LOL Anyway, I told you that I knew it wasn't going to be long until I had to blame you for that Riolis kit too--I just knew I couldn't allow it to sit in my 123Stitch cart for long.
The reason I said next year for the Merejka kit is because I knew you were trying to hold off on starting a lot more this year and I didn't want you to feel pressured if you weren't ready. Plus there's the fact that you mentioned that Thea Gouverneur Robin kit might be your kitandcaboodalsal start next month. And well, the second you showed that one, off in search I went...and yes, it has been ordered. And I was thinking I might start that one with you next month if you don't mind. :) You really are going to land me in the poor farm! 😂

I also have anxiety dreams. It took me several years, but I've managed to learn, how at some point I steer the dream to fix or mitigate the issue causing me the anxiety. Doesn't work every night, but I have more mornings with that icky feeling from anxiety dreams.
Thank you so much for telling me about this! I do think that I need to face my anxieties more in life and that will hopefully help in dreams as well... but it would be interesting to do that actually in my dreams, too!

Oh bless your heart, when you spoke about your dad - I felt that, deep in my soul. I lost my dad too and it is really hard to adjust to a world where they don’t exist anymore. Much love to you dear heart. Never be ashamed to cry, it shows how deeply you loved him. How is your husband getting on with learning Japanese? Is he hoping to travel there? That is indeed a great way to look at it!!! I have already picked a few recipes from the book. Fortunately couple of them are fairly easy, so I imagine I will manage to get at least one done. I am so tempted by a pretzel loaf though, but it means putting the whole loaf in boiling water and flipping it around, too, before baking in the oven. I can already see boiling water splashing all over me! Eek!

Just got done watching Lost In Stitches episode #6 and you've been shouted out all good things to say by Lisa. I've gotten away from kits a long time ago just bought 2 last August and I'm still struggling through the 1st one but I do work at least an hour each day on it it as I'd like to get it done

Who is your kit by? Is it a Dimensions kit? They can definitely be quite overwhelming as there is always a lot of detail. I have to stitch them a bit at a time. I am actually planning to grab one of my Dimensions kits to work on today as they need a lot of love.

Hello!!! Oh dear... when I was watching the video back a little bit, I realised that I did indeed call the tree waffle... LOL. It is actually called wattle! +giggling+ I wonder if I was a bit hungry when filming... Anyway, I don't know if that kit is still available. I bought mine from a de-stash group and that is the only time I have seen it. It is so pretty! Yellow really is a wonderful colour.

Ah, RTO kits... I think they are just all around great kits. Most of all, the designs are just so lovely! They have a huge variety and they are so different from other kit makers. I love the fun animals especially, but they have such pretty nature ones, too. The fabrics are great (I think there was one kit where I wasn't happy with the fabric, but otherwise they have been good) and so are the threads. I also like it that the kits are not crazy difficult, like Dimensions ones. They do have some blends and backstitching, but very enjoyable.
Ugh, UA-cam has lost your comment here, but at least I got it in an email, so I will reply to it here anyway. No, no, no, don't let backstitching put you off kits! It is the best part! LOL. It is such a treat to get to do it and see how it brings the project to life. It is always so exciting! Just need to take your time with it. and yes, mybobbin has way too many amazing super cute patterns. I don't dare to go there to look very often as I get tempted by everything and I already have so many projects to finish... AND to start! LOL.
