- The final two tracks from the pictured album; unfortunately the quality's suffered a bit, I assume from UA-cam's compression due to file size, but it's not too bad. Enjoy
A case can be made for this being a perfect album. A REALLY strong one. It's almost like "See what I can do without Genesis."
his second album isn't very far off of this
Here comes the flood is simply one of the best, the man's a genius.

What a dramatic and orchestral symphony in Down the Dolce Vita and calming down slowly connected into Here comes the flood. This transition is a kind of heartbeat to me, then Peter begins to sing like a prophet talking to, and suddenly rises up...fantastic drama again! Great epic poetry music.
Here Comes The Flood is one of the most beautiful songs ever.
"don´t be afraid to cry of what you see, the actors ´ gone there´s only you and me,
and if we´ll break before the dawn, they´ll use up what we used, to be" ---
that´s just so great, so .....i lack words of how i love that
MoveOverCasanova one of my favorite lines too. Up there with 'hovering like a fly, waiting for the windshield on the freeway'...
I was a young lad when I bought Peter’s first solo album. Now, +40 years later and with my candle burning low, I am sure I enjoy it more than what I did back then. ❤️ from Stavanger 🇳🇴
I fell in love with his voice when I saw him perform "The Flood" on Kate Bush's tv show circa 78 or 79. Whatever, I was transfixed to his fingers on an old fender rhodes piano. It was like an un-plugged event - except with the electric piano available - voice and piano only. I saw him perform the song live on his 1986 "So" tour which confirmed my reverence for the man. He is a musical genious!
Peter being Genesis ln the fist tune and shinning as himself in the second tune
Growth of an artist....amazing ! When the sour turns to sweet !
"Hey Mac, see you down the Dolce Vita! great!!!
See ya there
produced by Bob Ezrin ... who also produced Pink Floyd´s THE WALL & Lou Reed´s BERLIN all three outstanding recordings ... best decade ever 1970 ....
Got to add "Welcome To My Nightmare" to Ezrin's top production efforts of 1970's.
Epic recording again from Gabriel. Timeless ! MikeyG.
masterpiece.
Love the orchestra in this.
Me too! It reminds me of the orchestral parts at Mike Batt.
Sam Holden it's the LSO
Me too. I was unhappy to see he started to do it without. Its so great with the orchestral sound
Brilliant album with outstanding playing and arrangements.
Back in the day, peyote helped me really listen to here comes the flood. Magic,
apocaliptic, beautiful
I love this album! It rocks! But I did miss peter in genesis.. :(
Just brilliant!! A fabulous song, from an equally fabulous debut, solo album, too! :o) :o)
incredible good and original music
Great album following the path of "The lamb lies down on Broadway"
... HCTHFlood .... is such a flawless closing to the best debut album ever ....
I loved this album..Used to ride around on my forklift with a hoodie to hide the earphones...There are so many brilliant songs on this release
Fantastisk musik 👍
These two songs belong together back to back as they transition one into another on the album. Thanks for the upload.
i adore peter gabriel.
hes amzing, hes like the muzic god!
i listen to him every day in the car with my mom xD
This is such a badass song, Peter Gabriel is awesome!! :D
Beautiful.
The 2 songs together, as it should be, connected by the eerie instrumental.
No coincidence that Down... tells a story of sailors losing their battle against the sea, and Here Comes the Flood is the very sea taking over the land.
Dark and majestic ending for an album.
hey everyone lets go down the dolce vita.
have this cd when it came out in 77 and became a fan of peter gabriel.
chud1able.
CDs weren't around till 1985 though?
@@firstnamelastname-hc1oj More like 1983. I do have a pressing of Security from around that time. But yeah, your point still stands that CDs were not around in '77
I always thought if you connected the intro and outro to Down the Dolce Vita, and ran the outro another 30 seconds or so, you would have perfect intro music for a sports team...
lord here comes the flood...we said goodbye to flesh and blood
The best version and probably the only time this wasn’t played using a solo piano
Very nice
Montefoscoli Forever Wonderful from Pisa...
My two favourite tracks. I used to mentally combine them … :-)
One of the great start of a rock song..
Nice song.
Hey maybe I know you. A friend of mine from Texas bought this in San Diego back in 1977 when I was in the Navy. He was from San Antonio. Could be it's a small world after all. LOL!!
Just one of those odd coincidences that make one think. Strange too how well we got along since I'm from Oklahoma.
Humdrum and Here Comes the Flood our marvelous to me
OMG! Two of my favourite tracks stuck together! I always felt that was a 64 chevy pictured on the front cover of his debut solo LP... you too?
Turns out to be a 74 Lancia Flavia which I've never heard of till now.
Man this Mo Joe Radio Back Trax Is The Bomb!!
Hey, Mac, see you down the Dolce Vita! Best Album after Lamb Lies Down.
The original Eye of the Tiger.
Haha I was thinking the exact same thing. I thought maybe Peter ripped off that song but no - this was 5 years BEFORE eye of the tiger!!! They ripped him off!
