@@GlenAndMadoEspecially at ocean beaches, always swim between the [yellow and red] flags as that denotes a patrolled area that is deemed safe for swimming at that point in time. It’s a little different for strong swimmers who have grown up in the surf, but for those such as yourselves it’s always the best place to swim. If you want to better understand the conditions and any potential hazards you are fearful about, go and have a chat to the lifeguards on duty and hopefully they can allay your fears.
By far your biggest danger is a rip current. There’s a great little video called something like “How to spot a rip” or “Can you spot a rip” which is well worth a look.
      Enjoy those gorgeous beaches 🏖️

Enjoy living the life we Aussies sadly sometimes take too much for granted.
Some tips from a local Sydneysider:
    1. Blue Mountains is a must. Followed by the Southern Highlands around Kangaroo Valley, the Snowy Mountains, and the Brindabellas.
    2. Best beaches on the East Coast NSW.:
    a) Jervis Bay
    b) Port Macquarie
    c) Yamba/Iluka
    d) Foster & Tuncurry
    e) Anywhere south of Batemens Bay.
    f) Kiama
    g) Byron and surrounds.
    3. If you want mind-blowing coastal scenery then K'gari (formerly Fraser Island), the Whitsundays, Ningaloo Reef, the Great Ocean Road, Kangaroo Island, all of Tasmania, Mallacoota, and the Coorong.
The Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast for different reasons...
    Enjoy your explorations!
Remember that you're only a few hours flight from Vanuatu, Fiji, and Rarotonga (Aitutaki)!

You should have seen Avoca McMasters and Copacabana Beaches 50 years ago just a few old homes, an old bakery you could smell for miles, and a narrow windy road to Erina or Terrigal we used to catch huge crabs in the lake as kids and go over to the Kincumber wharf for some fishing. We used to stay at 10 Avoca drive in the '60s and 70's for Christmas and New Year opposite the Caravan Tent Park next to the old cinema . The little shop was at the park behind the Surf Club and sold local Carnival and Lakeland Ice cream . Go for a wal around the rocks behind the rock pool and cross the gap ,it has carved out hand and foot grips there made about 60 years ago.

The family used to go to Avoca every summer 1979 thru the '80's. We stayed at the apartments that now have a wire fence round them, and we'd always stay in the top left one.
The Cinema was open and we'd see - I think it was "Fantasia" for the first time.
Brother and I would buy kites and have dogfights until there was no tail left. Also wed build a model plane of some sort to keep us out of mischief.
North Avoca rocks had run off place which we'd spend hours damming off with rocks.
    Enjoy your travels!

The golden beach sand on the east coast always amazes me especially Newcastle beaches, no glare ! I live on the West coast and all our beaches are snow white sand which can be hard on your eyes at certain times of the day. European beaches are really different with I think the Amalphi coast being a bit on the extreme end, just smooth pebbles of volcanic rock. My wife as with every beach in our travels still managed to shape a dolphin much to the interest of the locals. That was good 🇦🇺👍

I suggest checking out Pearl beach to Warrah lookout walk and Patonga creek especially on a kayak is great. Terrigal is a real tourist area, nice beach town. Umina Beach markets are good and Avoca markets. Kariong waterfall trough is beautiful destination once you are there but a very dangerous cliffside water feature. Somersby reptile park, Somersby falls (after rain) all nice. Ettalong Beach to Palm beach ferry, with a stop at the Newport arms, a look at Home and away beach and then a walk up to the lighthouse is a good day out.

Flies are super annoying and thick in the Australian warm months, dark coloured shirts attract flies, white /light coloured shirts not so much by a huge margin. Also cotton material or cotton/polyester blends are much better in hot temps as they are breathable and don't hold onto sweat. Have a good stay in Australia.

I recognise Sydney is situated in a stunningly pictuesque location, although I can't help but think how much nicer the area must have been before a dirty city was built on it.
Never the less, I suspect you are starting to realise how much better Australia is away from the huge cities

I just realised her name is Mado. I've seen a few of your videos and wondered why you were seemingly always saying 'Madam'. 😅

That's an INSANELY expensive market! $13 for a loaf of bread, and it's not even that big. 3 avo's for $10 AND they're in season?! They gotta be joking. Markets are not supposed to be that expensive. Crazy.
I highly recommend visiting the South Coast as well, particularly Ulladulla/Milton/Mollymook/Burill Lake area. 4 hours south of Syd. SO much to do, many cafes for your coffee and restaurants and bars, lovely shops for Mado to window shop. It's quite a health conscious area so you'll find lots of health food shops/cafes but best of all the most spectacular beaches. Rennies Beach in Ulladulla (a tourist, surfing, fishing town) was voted cleanest beach in Australia twice. The whitest, squeakiest sand. So many beautiful coves and headland walks. Then you've got the mountains and rainforest 20min inland. The best fish n chips in Burrill Lake! They catch the fish right there in the morning. It's really a stunning area with even better beaches than the North coast. Truly. Most of the time you will have a whole beach to yourself almost. You definitely will enjoy it.
