South Africa’s Rubicon Group Wants to Help Drive The Transition to The Green Economy. South Africa’s Rubicon Group enables transformative sustainable and industrial technologies across the energy and manufacturing sectors in Africa and other emerging markets. Via their sustainable technology division, Rubicon’s energy, electric mobility, building management and lighting solutions are enabling homes, businesses and factories to adopt sustainable, connected and automated solutions underpinned by renewable energy generation and storage. Rubicon has recently opened an office in my favourite city, Nairobi, Kenya.
Rubicon had the honour of bringing in the first ever Tesla vehicle to South Africa, a Model X P 100 D. We had the pleasure of getting a good look at Rubicon’s Model X recently at Brooklyn Mall in Pretoria, South Africa. Rubicon are using the Model X to raise awareness of electric vehicles. The Model X is also a star attraction at their product road shows and exhibitions in shopping malls as they promote stationary storage products such as the Powerwall. Programmes and Roadshows on EV education are critical in promoting awareness to catalyse
EV adoption. Studies show that people who had heard a lot about electric vehicles were the most likely to consider purchasing one. That’s is why here at Electric Drive Africa, we want to share as much information as possible as well as the developments in the electric vehicle space across Africa to help catalyse the transition to electric vehicles.

This is great news. South Africa and indeed Africa is behind the times when it comes to EV adoption. This in large has to do with African governments huge duties levied on EVs. Proud of Rubicon and the work they're doing.
