Does the WS-4000 also have a non user serviceable battery like the Tempest? That alone was a hard pass for me on the Tempest. I’ll stay with my replaceable batteries on my WS-5000 thank you.
@@theweatherstationexperts so the WS-4000 uses replaceable AA batteries? That’s good to know and is a critical failing of the Tempest. How about the Ecowitt?
To be honest, I got limited rain during the test, so unfortunately I can't help out there.. just not enough data to make a recommendation (thanks Mother Nature)
Buy a manual gauge. They are calibrated to the nearest hundredth of an inch. Only the load cell weather station gauges are accurate and those stations can exceed $30,000 depending on the equipment included, snow depth measurements, etc.
Yep, they can all connect to a local Home Assistant instance though, which will record data from all sensors and you keep it and access it local. Plus you can build automations with Home Assistant like if 34deg or below, turn on pipe heater, etc.
I'll stick with my Tempest which has been spot on with all weather stats and that includes the haptic sensor.
I don't blame you
I know a guy that measures his wheelbarrow and believes it is accurate. You have to check accuracy with a manual gauge, period!

No, this is just like the WS-5000!

Are there any suggested rain gauge calibrations (rain "gain" settings) to start with?

AWN+ for $50/yr WTF to log data which will be miniscule sized files? RIP-OFF!
