I love this gun for bots. Prior to this I never used anything but the Punisher on bots. That gun is way under rated and highly effective. The Plas Scorcher comes with the downside of no close up shooting, but its more or less a Punisher with explosive rounds. All hail the "shotgun that works like a sniper rifle". I actually do use the sights on this gun for long shots and its quite effective at taking out bot sentries etc. When the bots get to close I have been fending them off with melee attacks and then making space. If anyone has pointers I am keen to hear them.
It's a great weapon overall but still unfortunately sits behind he Breaker in terms of utility and sheer dps. I still use it because of how tired I am of the breaker, but the Scorcher is far more situational. It really does need like 3-5 more shots per mag and less self-damage at point blank range. Most of my deaths on bug missions aren't from bugs, but from a hunter jumping at me from off screen, right in front of my rifle, thus killing me instantly from the splash damage with virtually no time to react.
I recommend trying the slugger. it can one shot all dev bot types and honestly feels like a pump action dmr. plus being tube fed you never have to worry about wasting a mag.
Question, does this same philosophy apply to the dominator? I haven't been able to find personal success with it, and was wondering what your thoughts were Also the mentioning of being able to knock out heavy devastators and scout walkers made my room white, definitely going to try this gun out
Dominator ironic as it sound..it doesnt really count as explosive weapon compare to plas-1. it doesn't explode to create AOE. it in the explosive weaponry but doesnt deal explosive damage. treat Dominator like a heavy DMR (aka Bolter from 40k)
Give the Arc-Thrower a try. I slagged it off early on and didn't come back to it until I got bored with meta builds and it's actually a powerhouse at clearing trash while still being potent against medium threats. Scout Walkers usually go down in 1-2 hits while still arcing and killing nearby enemies.
Dominator not only staggers enemies, but it can also 1-tap cyborgs in head - if you factor that in, it now has fantastic ammo economy at cyborg missions (anything from regular goon to rocket devastator dies in 1 shot if you manage to hit head (explosive damage here gives you full damage to head instead of 10-20% Slugger does on headshot)) I would say that this is extremely high skill gun - you need to know it's sway while turning, how to aim with laser pointer, factor in bullet drop... and then you get a gun that let's you easily kill brood commanders, devastators and stalkers/hunters if you're brave enough.
The issue with the Dominator is that it is a really heavy weapon, turning and aiming is a chore, the projectile fall off is big and it doesn't do as much damage as it should, the Scorcher is better in all fronts.

Thirdly, they cancelled 4 games that we know about and underestimated this one so it still wasn't great but of course it can be corrected. Fourth, fifth and sixth any cancellation of Factions 2 is a failure in my eyes.
@@DrPooplove If it was a bad strategy, why would Hiroki Titoki say "our mid to long term plans surrounding Live Service remain unchanged"? Sounds like PlayStation and Arrowhead Studios still think it's a good strategy. You should reassess your take here.
@@DrPooplove It's always interesting to see single player game cancellations and how people don't claim SP games is a failed strategy. We must see the hypocrisy.
Honestly, no. It feels like a side grade to the explosive crossbow to me. Less ammo efficent, smaller splash, less damage, two handed instead of one so you can't use it while carrying objectives and the price of the crossbow is like 300 medals, compared to the staggering 1275 for the scorcher.
You don't need dps against bots, you need a weapon that can score solid killing hits with a few shots because exposing yourself on bots is pretty much a death sentence, scorcher can take down annoying enemies like heavy devastators variants in one or two shot's easily.
Haven’t unlocked the scorcher yet but I am a devout user of the arc thrower and feel that the scorcher’s downsides are fixed with the arc thrower. Low ammo? Arc has infinite Enemy to close? Pistol sure, but just full charge a arc and melee to kill the enemy (a tech I made) Arc thrower cannot snipe something? Scorcher has it. Need a way to pop bile bug bodies? Scorcher excels at it
Arc Thrower is a bit too low on the damage side, mostly due to how long it charges between shots. And its range is really lacking. It's like a shotgun that reloads after every shot, but why use it when you have Breaker and Slugger? In Helldivers 1 arc thrower only started to become a good weapon after you upgraded its charge time and range, and still lagged behind more traditional arms. In Helldivers 2 "just melee it while it's charging" doesn't work that well, especially when you are attacked by a hundred bugs or half a hundred bots (which is normal for tier 8+ difficulties). It could be ok for lower tiers, like 1-5, but over that you need something that packs a punch as your primary. If you want unlimited ammo, just use Scythe. It's pretty good vs bots due to its pinpoint accuracy and no recoil, and if you don't shoot the whole clip, it just cools down. It's ok against bugs, but they are too mobile for accurate shooting, especially when you go solo, so Breaker is still king vs bugs.
I use the Arc Thrower like a Primary. Same as those who use the Stalwart or MG-43. Breaker is still king but it lacks range. And the Arc Thrower has it (plus chaining to enemies and allies alike) I have a few videos of me performing the “full charge melee” tech that I mentioned in my own streams and videos if you are interested. Melee itself is joked but I have come to use it drastically on many bugs that get within the arc throwers minimum range as not just a small one health point bugs are an option, but the knockback, stun, and from what I theorize my meleeing increasing the distance from the muzzle of the arc thrower to said bug being melee’d, thus allowing you to still zap the bug in your minimum range. Might be a placebo effect but it works enough for me. To address the low fire rate you can “half charge” the arc thrower to increase the fire rate nearly 100%. (First shot is a full charge up and the remaining shots are charged to 50% and then released early for the same effect…again…If you click on my profile you will find examples of this amazing fire rate boost) I use the ideal that the Arc Thrower is like the Flame thrower: where both weapons initially need to “warm up” before reaching its deadly potential.
@@WeeWeeJumbo usually yes, but still comes in handy when everything is out/on cooldown. Being able to kill chargers and hulks in niche situations is quite useful. A small added bonus
I really love the Scorcher. I don't use it against the bugs, because if the reasons you mentioned. A shotgun is mandatory against the vermin. I use it only against the Automatons and currently, I am the only one in our squad who has it. While the others are running shotguns and assault rifles, I have the Scorcher as a battle rifle to assist with medium-sized targets. The only thing I dint lime about it (apart from the low ammo count) is the lack of a magnified optic. It would do soooo well with a scope.
do you mean the 50% chance of not dying to fatal damage? Yes I am sure it works but only 50% of the time. If you mean the "Fortified" Armor Passive, yes you will barely survive if you have that on.
its worst gun for clearing swarm, but its the best for everything else. ps, one weakness is that it can actually kill the user if you shot at an enemies that is right next to you...explosion damage
For me is the breaker incendiary, sickle and now i got some nice time with the Eruptor against bugs, the incendiary is nice because when a huge horde comes in your direction you can just spray and pray and delete the horde in front of you, the Eruptor splash damage can net me up to 40-50 kills when breaches are involved, you can easily kill yourself with it though so caution is advised.
0:20 wtf this gun can shoot tank turret to do damage? i know it's explosive damage but it have enough radius to affect weak point??? 2:00 yea on bug side even though it's still good againt elite but there are so many small thing running around. and if sh// hit the fan you have a high chance to kill yourself. 3:20 but it still better than most primary gun. especially the point that it can explode bile titan sack. if it don't have a sack it turn from S rank bug to B at most because it can't use bile attack if their sack explode. and their melee attack help us instead. 5:10 dev team should make hold V into using stim when full hp.

@@Greenstrtjs87I still don't like bots because it is basically hide or die to rockets/heavy devastators but it is basically down to what is written on the tips, it is the 3 c's, cover courage and more cover against them.
My jaw was dropped throughout this video..
Pooplove said all of PlayStations Live Service games would fail. Now he's making Helldivers 2 content.
No I didn’t
@@DrPooplove Yes you did. You thought their Live Service strategy was a failure.
@@bigbox1431 First of all I made Helldivers content back in September and have been hype for this game for a while. Secondly I didn't say all would fail, I thought the strategy was bad which it was (see point 3).
Less ammo efficent, smaller splash, less damage, two handed instead of one so you can't use it while carrying objectives and the price of the crossbow is like 300 medals, compared to the staggering 1275 for the scorcher.
ngl, the name Dr. Pooplove threw me off hard
taking out the biletitan sack from over 500 meter en more this is a amazing weapon 😂
Literally just unlocked this🤟
I get what your saying but the DPS tests have been done it still lacks but still a good choice
You don't need dps against bots, you need a weapon that can score solid killing hits with a few shots because exposing yourself on bots is pretty much a death sentence, scorcher can take down annoying enemies like heavy devastators variants in one or two shot's easily.
this seems like its meant to run alongside flamethrower
I think the JAR Dominator is perhaps a better alternative vs the bugs
@@DrPooplove could be, it just seems like it fills the gaps left by a flamethrower main.

Have you looked at the Guns from Classic 2D helldivers for reference? The only good op guns left are Trident and the Justice, and maybe Paragon
I haven't played enough of the original, but it may be worth digging into to see what might be coming
“The scorcher sucks because I accidentally get killed by it all the time”
Massive skill issue
Who are you quoting?
Haven’t unlocked the scorcher yet but I am a devout user of the arc thrower and feel that the scorcher’s downsides are fixed with the arc thrower.
Low ammo? Arc has infinite
Enemy to close? Pistol sure, but just full charge a arc and melee to kill the enemy (a tech I made)
Arc thrower cannot snipe something?
And the Arc Thrower has it (plus chaining to enemies and allies alike)
I have a few videos of me performing the “full charge melee” tech that I mentioned in my own streams and videos if you are interested.
I really hope it’ll be a auto so it’ll be like Vex Mythoclast. I have the gun but the semi gets me
kills chargers alright if you are able to shoot them in the butt consistently
too ammo-costly in the best of cases
@@WeeWeeJumbo usually yes, but still comes in handy when everything is out/on cooldown. Being able to kill chargers and hulks in niche situations is quite useful. A small added bonus
nice video! thanks
thank you!
650 more medals to go!
riskrunner my beloved
Very useful!
2:53 Hey I SAW THAT!!!
I yeah like we haven't been try to get it for ever
I really love the Scorcher. I don't use it against the bugs, because if the reasons you mentioned. A shotgun is mandatory against the vermin.
I use it only against the Automatons and currently, I am the only one in our squad who has it. While the others are running shotguns and assault rifles, I have the Scorcher as a battle rifle to assist with medium-sized targets.
The only thing I dint lime about it (apart from the low ammo count) is the lack of a magnified optic. It would do soooo well with a scope.
Man i wish the gun was good
started playing 4 days ago and got it wasnt that bad
Will you still die with the 50% less damage armor?
do you mean the 50% chance of not dying to fatal damage? Yes I am sure it works but only 50% of the time. If you mean the "Fortified" Armor Passive, yes you will barely survive if you have that on.
its not an AT AT !! its more closer to an AT RT from the ones that the clones use in the clone wars
Is this gun good or did it get nerfed?
Still good, don't habe been nerf
if you ban someone, is that using the poopchute?
I think a TLDR is shit against bugs since when they are too close on you, you pretty much screwed. But seems goated against bots I want to try it out
its worst gun for clearing swarm, but its the best for everything else.
ps, one weakness is that it can actually kill the user if you shot at an enemies that is right next to you...explosion damage
So the scorcher is for bots , and the jar dom is for bugs in fine ?
For me is the breaker incendiary, sickle and now i got some nice time with the Eruptor against bugs, the incendiary is nice because when a huge horde comes in your direction you can just spray and pray and delete the horde in front of you, the Eruptor splash damage can net me up to 40-50 kills when breaches are involved, you can easily kill yourself with it though so caution is advised.
@@Tamachii12 doesnt really help me here friend
2:50 WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT
I love picking this up off teammates, 347 medals away from my own 😮
0:20 wtf this gun can shoot tank turret to do damage? i know it's explosive damage but it have enough radius to affect weak point???
2:00 yea on bug side even though it's still good againt elite but there are so many small thing running around. and if sh// hit the fan you have a high chance to kill yourself.
3:20 but it still better than most primary gun. especially the point that it can explode bile titan sack.
if it don't have a sack it turn from S rank bug to B at most because it can't use bile attack if their sack explode. and their melee attack help us instead.
5:10 dev team should make hold V into using stim when full hp.
2:07 erm actually they are more similar to AT-ST's
Perfect for bots, not so much for bugs... my to go against bots with a stun grenade, you can down even hulks with 4-5 shots in the back.
This gun is balls
Magazine. God dammit magazine. A clip is entirely different and the only clip fed gun in the game (surprising there even is one) is the autocannon. Poopertrooper
Ig a lot of games get this wrong huh? “Clip size increase” < “EXTENDED magazine”?
@@aurumone_exe oh yah a lot of people get it wrong. Just shows a lack of education is all. I'm just out here spreading knowledge.
Really needs 25 rounds instead of 15.
Idk, maybe Im doing smth wrong but this gun feels like shit when Im taking it to automatons, I can oneshot little bots but it completely sucks ass against devastators, sometimes even cant kill the with full mag while with sluggers it usually takes one headshot
Weird, it is usually 1-2 shots on all devastators variants, even hulks can be taken down with this weapon as long as you hit the backside.
EQUIP THIS NOW LOl, after 200 hours maybe
Its 200 damage now
