Rangers fan here. I'm glad at times like these both our fanbases come together and the majority of us have some form of mutual respect for each other. Death has no colour
Rangers fan here .. they don’t make them like him anymore . Great player great role model and a gentleman . Times like this u respect and forget the rivalry.
Great to see legends breaking rival barriers. Times like this when u realise through all the bad blood and rivalry, football is just a game and every one is human first. RIP BILLY💚🍀💚🍀
Classy comment Aaron. Most trueblue Rangers fans have expressed similar feelings in the last two days. Best wishes to you and yours from a Celtic fan in Ireland.
You're a class act yourself Dougie and I think so are most trueblue Rangers' fans at the times it *really* counts, like now. Guys like McNeill, Baxter or Greig are giants of football and a credit to Scottish football no matter what colours they wore. Respect to you and yours, from a Celtic fan in Ireland.
@@patrickbut-not-a-saint9418 thanks m8. Guy's like big Billy,Davy Cooper,Tommy Burns,Sandy Jardine all had 1 thing in common they played for the club they loved and conducted themselves the right way TRUE REAL LEGENDS.
I remember the game when John Grieg tackled Bobby Lennox and Bobby ended up with a broken ankle next day on the back page of the paper was a photo of John sitting at his hospital bed he must have visited him straight after the game☺️touch of class I thought 🍀🍀🍀
And apparently Lennox was asked after the game when he knew his leg was broken, his answer was 'when I saw Greig coming towards me'. I think John appreciated that joke!
From a lifelong Celtic fan, how great to see the sheer class of John G and the respectful comments of Rangers fans. Agree with the view that very few of today’s players, sadly, deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Billy McN and John G. They were gentlemen and hard players on the pitch - they knew how to win and how to lose gracefully. With a little luck some of the current generation of players might read these comments and truly understand them. They reflect well on the true supporters of two great clubs.
I would like to thank John greig and everyone else of a rangers persuasion who expressed their condolences on the death of billy McNeill. That speaks volumes as to how much big billy was respected even by Celtic's greatest rivals.
Echoing many of the sentiments expressed here but here's my 2p worth. It's touching to see a true Rangers legend honouring one of ours. Respect to all those Gers who have done likewise. It kind of makes all the hatred on both sides seem so very useless, does it not? Respect to John Greig. HH 🍀
How can anyone dislike this, this is where the real fans put the rivalry away, R.i.p Billy Mcneil , up in the sky with Tommy Burns now, from a Rangers Fan.
as a celtic supporter ive always had a lot of respect for john greig, always gave 100% as player and manager, and was a real gent off the pitch, some of todays players could learn a thing or two about manners and deportment from people like billy and john.
@@williamdownie6282 Oi! What have I done? I don't need to let go of anything as I have never harboured hatred. I feel love for all things and do not get why my comment led you to state that I have to change something. Explain yourself Sir.

Just wish both clubs had men like greig and mcneill today, proper footballers, huge rivals on the pitch, big friends off the pitch, thats how it should be.....how it should always be...does it really take the passing of a great player, never mind if its rangers or celtic, to make us all think this way...my best mates a die hard celtic fan and id be just the same if it was him....from a gers fan.....RIP Mr Mcneill
Great to see this from Greig. Good buddies off the field. Jim Baxter was the same, he would go out drinking with Jinky and the rest of the Lisbon Lions. RIP Billy, you will be sorely missed! 🍀🍀🍀
Lovely tribute from another legend who captained and played in the blue of Rangers. No script or reading off a piece of paper...that speech comes from the heart. These 2 guys respected each other immensely!

I remember as a child running from the jungle over to the tunnel for Billy' s autograph, and then a year or so later outside Ibrox on a non match day, I ran over to John Greg getting into a car to tell him I was a Celtic fan.
Real Celtic and Rangers men both of them. Played for the clubs not the money. Brendan Rodgers could not coach these guys. Not enough money. Hail hail and aye ready. RESPECT ✊
Rangers fans Giving respect to a Celtic Player unusual ! But when coming from John Greig You cant argue with that A.special moment Going to be remembered for A long time I hope
A fitting tribute to a Scottish football legend. That was always something that came across whenever Billy McNeill was interviewed, such a kind and caring gentleman.👏😊 Lovely to see John Greig laying a wreath on behalf of Rangers. There's far more that unites than divides us.
I watched this legend of a man play against my club (Gers) and never once was dirty in a tackle. Very sad to see a Lisbon lion leave us! 💙💚🍀☘🍀☘🍀☘ Condolences to his wife and family and everyone connected to Celtic F.c.💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💚
