sure, sure, very civilized! ... at the expense of billions of deaths of native Americans and others in the world.
Because it at least seemed totally off the cuff.
“What state were you in?”
“I was happy.”
😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wonderful!😊
To think on your feet like that and nail it. That’s a master at work🙌🏼
@@umranakhtar3809 Dave wasn't thinking, he was speechless at that point!
The Borat character is severely underrated. It’s one of the all time best comedy characters but is never seen or mentioned amongst the greatest. Perhaps because of the subject matter.
no Borats anymore. Since PC culture emerged... unfortunately
Did you just say "Borat is underrated "?
I must be having a stroke, because nobody could be stupid enough to say it.
He was the ONLY thing on TV and movies for years.
Are you a teenager?
@@derekgleeson1353 he's not on TikTok yet . Then he'll be rated.
Just a genius interview. The character was so original and no doubt it brought a lot of buzz for the movie.
how he can stay in character so long is beyond my believe as the punchlines pour down like rain 😂
“Well live and learn, for heaven’s sake.” Dave is subtly hilarious.
brilliant
Like sleeve of wizard 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣... The most important statement of any man who ever lived.
Discription is absolutely on point😂
its crazy how well sacha understands stagecraft - he is absolutely dominating letterman here -hyper aware and extremely witty. Kudos to letterman for just clamming up and letting him do his great routine.
Letterman seemed to be really uncomfortable. Good!
Hahaha yeah - Sacha is leagues beyond Letterman it's obvious Letterman is out of his element here@@sojourn6697
Sorry to break the illusion, bu all of these interviews are rehearsed before the show. It is a comedy routine. They both know the structure of the interview and all major jokes.
dominated? these interviews are always planned ahead of time, Dave has a list of questions he goes through.
@@NecumNaToBorat is rehearsed. Letterman doesn’t have to do anything but ask the right questions.
I was blown away when I saw Sacha in the movie, "The Trial of Chicago 7". He played a serious intense role portraying Abbie Hoffman. Shows what a multi talented genius this guy is. Great movie worth catching.
He’s still funniest guy except for Jim Carrey.
How does acting like an ignorant dumb foreigner equate to genius?
@@gabecollettJim carrey was never this funny
I think The Spy is the best thing he's ever done.
Agreed, Jim was just going for obnoxious shock value that hasn't aged well since. Sacha is a walking, talking social experiment of a genius@@venicec3310
Sacha is a hero....he makes me laugh every single time and he is just an incredible human being❤
I remember watching this when it aired (first time I learned of Borat). Epic interview.
Sacha Baron Cohen proves that he´s a genius. I have a feelling that at some moments of this meeting David Letterman feared that Borat could take over the whole show.
I have a “felling” you didn’t proofread your comment. 😂
@@fezzik7619 Come on, the man only got one word wrong

This guy is so smart and quick even letterman is unhinged!
Are you implying Letterman is smart?
What an amazing comedian! :)
Still the best.
Letterman: “What state were you in?”
Borat: “I was happy”
After he said "sleeve of wizard" he touched his sleeve !!!

2006 and this is still funny, brilliant
Dave was always on edge worrying what was coming next
Edge of forest?

Probably my favorite Borat "interview". EVER
Think Dave was a bit worried at first, but shasha showed him so much respect. By the end, I thought I could hear a sigh of relief 😂
"Hi-Five!" HAHAHAHAHA!
As a Kazakh living in the USA I'm disappointed that americans forgot our brilliant compatriot Borat! So shallow!
All Borat does is act stupid, hes pretty limited
You would of thought Dave would love this guy's humor
Amazing. They never allow comedy like this again. People don't want to admit he's just joking.
People had a much better sense of humor back then and didn’t get offended from every single thing. Before everything became politicized.
@@BAGAKOOS They literally made a sequel to Borat 2 years ago 😭
@@BAGAKOOS I guess that you and many others don’t yet know about all the comedians who were arrested and convicted and a couple were even imprisoned in “the good old days” for their jokes. George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Lenny Bruce, Mae West, and many others were arrested in the last century because so many audience members were offended.
In 1903 a newspaper editorial announced the death of comedy because audience members were so easily offended. At least no-one is being arrested for their jokes as happened to comedians in those “good old days”. Your statement is demonstrably wrong.
@@justinafrika7860 whats your problem?
@@BAGAKOOS Your problem is that your statement "better sense of humor back then and didn’t get offended" is factually entirely inaccurate. Comedians were being arrested and convicted “back then” because their jokes offended audience members.
How are you failing to understand basic verifiable facts?
That might be the funniest title for a movie I've watched. 🤣
Sacha Baron Cohen is a genius!! Always makes people smile.😊😊
He nailed this. His timing is immaculate
"What state were you in ... when you were learning to drive?"

The gall to just do a whole interview in character... niiiice!
It’s not like he’s the first or only to do this. Were you born yesterday?
@@fezzik7619 Where did I ever say or ask that. Where is your reading comprehension and manners?
@@MedalionDS9 You implied a certain exclusivity in your exclamatory sentence to say he had the gall to do the whole interview in character. Almost as though you were commending a unique bravery. I was reading between the lines. As for manners, they are right where they need to be.

@@JB-es3ff I’m a pseudo-intellectual? You can’t even get subject/verb agreement correct in your own language. Start there. That was a flaccid attempt to derogate me, and an unfounded one at that.
Great to finally see this in good quality as opposed to 240p from other uploaders.
4:34 was the closest he got to breaking character
Absolutely genius.
Watching Borat always makes me feel confused. He's hilarious, but I'm nervous for the people around him.
Sasha in a nutshell. His wife feels the same way LOL.
It's also nerve-wracking because he actually puts himself in physical danger to get the shot so he hires body guards to whisk him to safety when the crowd boils over. Very courageous and he has told interviewers about some narrow and authentic escapes.
Tasteless, crass, and hilarious.
"I was HAPPY" LMAO

Good catch.
He’s a British comedian, not an American. Doesn’t need cue cards,
Not seen that before
Looks like the cue cards are actually behind David, so Borat can see them as he's being interviewed.

Letterman is so good, we keep forgetting that no other interviewer can control like (he even made Sacha Baron Cohen laugh a little and break character 6:03 ). Only Carson and Letterman have that kind of charisma and control.
Break character? What are you on about? Nothing remotely there about this in any way whatsoever.

The funniest part of it is how clearly annoyed Letterman is with Borat and blindsided by him. He just can’t stand not being in charge of the interview and anyone daring to get more laughs than him
Or he’s in on it and that’s half of the joke lol, weirdo
Um, You mean the guy who repeatedly had Andy Kaufman and Howard Stern on his show? I think you are imagining things.
Dave knew what was up. Of course he did. listen to his interview with Howard Stern on his Joaquin Phoenix interview. He loves this kinda thing.
You really need to dial it back a bit. You're not as independently smart as you think you are.
A ridiculous comment, perhaps a troll. SBC was very funny, and Dave likes it when he doesn't have to carry the comedy during interviews.
Hilarious! But they cut out the movie clip!
Why was the original taken down?
Back when comedians could just be funny and not have to worry about offending anyone, BECAUSE HE’S A COMEDIAN, AND THAT’S WHAT COMEDIANS DO!
