Lee Rocker of The Stray Cats joins New York Living to discuss the band reuniting for its 45th anniversary, touring since the ’80s, and the band's origins on Long Island.
I had the pleasure to meet Lee when he played on Broadway in The Million Dollar Quartet. A truly nice man with a talent & style like no other. That's how we breed them on the East Coast. Thank you for being you, Lee.
I just saw the Dever show, the Cats blew the doors off the venue. 45 years and they still bring it! The opening act the Midnight Cowgirls blew us away too, apparently they are somehow working together, and I say "do it", any chance to hang out with the Cats is a blessing... Thank you Lee, Brian and Jim, you guys are all beautiful people who make beautiful music. Thanks Stray Cats, your contributions to the world are magic, keep rockin', guys!
I've been a Stray Cats Fan from the very Beginning. This Band is still as good as ever. I also saw them live 4 Times, which I'm particularly proud of. I hope to see Lee Rocker and Stray Cats a 5th Time too
Everything old is new again.I loved The Stray Cats, because I still loved Rock A Billy music.I’m glad they are back again, and I hope to see them perform live.
These guys got me in to Rockabilly back in 1982, and I've been in to it hard core - nonstop ever since. That said, c'mon Lee - get rid of the Dick Broom (mustache) .
Same here, then I started buying Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent records. I saw them in 82 at a small venue before they went to bigger venues. I stood at the front of the stage on the dance floor where Setzer was to watch his guitar work. Next time I saw them they were at a bigger venue and Lee Rocker cut his right hand slapping the bass.
Clearly, you don’t know what you’re talking about: this doesn’t mean they’ve released 23 separate albums that have gone gold/platinum-gold and platinum albums are awarded in different countries/territories. And in fact, when albums go gold, you get an award and then another award when they then go platinum. So it’s very easily feasible that they have this many.
Why do these two ladies have a show. They have no idea who he is or what he does. They have a legend across from you and you start talking about what beaches THEY like. “Like this gentleman” if you forget his name LOOK AT THE BACK DROP
Yes, some better prepared interviewer would be appreciated, thank you. And btw, with prepared I mean not your closes, hair, makeup, attitude, or appearance, no it is your brain that must be prepared, sorry girls.
Saw the 82 Santa Cruz Catalyst show, we were 16, had the import albums but couldn't get in, so we climbed on the roof and watched the show through the roof atrium windows right down at the band!!! Setzer was like 22 at the time.
Lee Rocker is amzing! Player and singer. Love ya brother

Lee is a real gentleman and tolerating these 2 idiots with such class is evidence of that.
I hear ya - Jeez?
Lee is a genius! So underrated. But in the music scene - they all know and respect. So cool to see this interview!

Saw them here in San Diego on the 3rd. Great show, lots of fun! I wouldn't mind if they recorded some new material.
Hope they come to Europe soon again...we LOVE them ❤ 😺
I love his accent ❤
Man, these gals are so cringe....lol. Lee Rocker cool af as always, though
23 gold and platinum albums sold? Maybe 2 or 3.

I saw them on BBC TV in 1980 and thought they were great. Still playing their music today on guitar.
Upright bass is where it all started!

My now wife and I were there in San Bernardino way back in 1983. I thought they were the best band on Punk Rock Day.
